Normal Family

by Lillian

"Daddy's gone away for a while,"
said the mother to her disheartened child.
"Don't be sad, show Mommy a smile."
A fatherless child, so meek and mild
Dear old Dad has gone away
Perhaps he has met his new wife
The child waits for his father's returning day
Daddy does not realize he causes so much strife
This poor child, so innocent and so small
Always and forever without a father
The child grows up lonely and sad
Missing the father who won't even bother
To make contact with his child, not even a phone call
What a wonderful, loving dad!

(That was a sonnet, by the way.)
