Imposters - Part 3

Neither Maeve nor Sinbad slept a wink the night before the big day. As they prepared, each in their own cabin, they were very happy but very nervous. Maeve had a bad feeling about today, but she didn't want to have to carry a weapon to her own wedding. Using her better judgment, she tied a small dagger to her leg, where no one could see it, but she could get it quickly. Finally they were both ready. Sinbad, Doubar, Rongar, and Firouz walked up to the priest, and waited for Maeve. Suddenly Chrystyn emerged from below deck. Maeve followed her about seven steps behind. Everything was going as planned by Sadelah and Rumina.

"If anyone should have an objection to this marraige, let them speak now or forever hold their peace." Maeve's breath became shorted, and she felt the cool metal on her leg. Suddenly, Rumina misted in. There was a large gasp from the crowd.

"I have an objection." Rumina's voice was loud and clear.

"Why do you object, child?" The priest looked confused.

"Rumina, leave. None of your kind are here." Maeve didn't let Rumina answer the priest, she knew what Rumina's answer would be.

"Yes they are." Rumina pointed to Sadelah (Chrystyn).

"I was expecting this." Maeve muttered, and drew her dagger.

Rumina had not expected Maeve to have a dagger. She coughed and then stepped back a little.

Maeve sent a fireball flying over Rumina's head. She had not hit her on purpose, that was a warning shot. She then aimed the dagger in between Rumina's eyes and threw. Rumina blocked it with her magic, and then it became a magic battle. Maeve conjured up the largest fireball she was possible of and instead of hitting Rumina, Maeve first threw it at Chrystyn, who was not expecting it to say the least. Chrystyn turned to her real form and crumpled on the deck, dead. Maeve could now concentrate on Rumina. Thinking of something she had just learned, she decided to use it. It would drain her of all her powers for at least three days, but it would be worth it to kill Rumina. Maeve concentrated on putting a force field around herself so nothing could harm her, and then threw a lethal fireball. It wasn't her ordinary fireball, it was one from Hell. Right before it hit Rumina, it opened a portal and sucked her in, killing her with flames.

Maeve collapsed. Dermott, who had been sitting on a little perch that Maeve made him, fell off and transformed back into a man. He, Sinbad, Doubar, Rongar, and Firouz ran to Maeve. Dermott picked her up and took her back to her cabin.

For the next three days, as Maeve expected, they tended to her every need, knowing she had drained her energy. Finally, most of Maeve's strength returned.

On the fourth day, Maeve was sitting up in bed, talking to Sinbad.

"I'm sorry we couldn't get married a few days ago." Maeve's eyes glistened with tears.

"It's not your fault. But you killed Rumina, and got Dermott back. And Dim-Dim is free. And we can get married." Sinbad caressed her face.

"Aye. Let's make it a private ceremony." Maeve laughed.

A Year Later

Maeve and Sinbad had married in a small private ceremony, and had spent the night in a lovely inn they had found at the port. Maeve was with child, and nine months later, a tiny redheaded baby came. She had a loud scream, fiery red hair, and deep eyes, just like Maeve. They named her Caila. Maeve had lost her stomach almost instantly after bearing Caila. They had set sail around the world, to see the things they might never see on the Nomad. In a yacht beside their's, Doubar, Rongar, Firouz, and Dermott sailed along. The friends couldn't bear to part, but knew that Maeve and Sinbad would want their nights alone. Maeve was the happiest she'd ever been. No more Rumina, Dermott was back, Dim-Dim was free, and she loved her friends, her husband, and her baby girl more than anything in the world.
