A Fine Feathered Friend - Part 1

"Do you think Dermott has it easy!?" Maeve questioned loudly.

"Yeah, he's a stupid bird, he's always been a stupid bird and he'll always BE a stupid bird!" Sinbad yelled back.

"Oh, yeah!?"

"Yeah!"

"Fine then!" Maeve's eyes flashed with anger and took on an unearthly glow as she pointed both her arms toward Sinbad and chanted,

"Hair to feathers, arms to wings,
Change now to a flying thing!"

A moment later Sinbad was shrinking and sprouting feathers. In another moment he found that he no longer had hands but wings in their place. He felt naked, and for good reason- his clothes had fallen off of him. His feet were now claws and the change was making it hard for him to stay balanced and upright, not to mention the fact that his eyes were playing tricks on him. Sinbad tried to voice his protests, but all he heard come from his 'mouth' was a loud "Squawk!"

Maeve's anger cooled and she couldn't help but laugh a little at seeing Sinbad's frustration. "Now you know how Dermott really feels."

Dermott flew back over to his mistress now that Sinbad was much less threatening. The hawk form of Sinbad glared at him as the other bird actually seemed to be laughing.

Doubar, who had not witnessed the recent odd events, came walking toward Maeve with question in his eyes. "Maeve, I thought I heard you and my little brother fighting, but where is he?"

Maeve couldn't help but laugh, even in her anger, and look over toward where the two birds were sizing each other up.

Only now did Doubar notice there were now two hawks instead of one. "So Dermott found a little friend?" he asked in a slightly amused tone.

Maeve laughed again and answered, "He's found no one he didn't already know."
