Whereever Chango went in Africa, he was king. He was the Orisha that traveled all over western and central Africa and where ever he went he became King. His name changed in different area due to language, but he was the same Orisha. In Dahomey he was called Jevioso, in Koso, he was called Obbakoso, the king of Koso, in the Congo he was called Nsasi. He was king of Oyo, of Ebini, of Owo, of Ado and many other kingdoms in Yorubaland. Chango was such a good warrior that there is even a legend where he killed a dragon, single-handed in one-to-one combat! For this reason the people loved him for all his defects. And people still love in the present day. He is one of the most popular Orishas, partly due to his great power, but also due to his commanding presence and colorful life story.
