Chapter Three

"AJ?" Andrea whispered into the darkness.

"AJ..." She repeated straining her eyes to see.

"Boo!" He jumped from the tree.

"People are sleeping," she scolded.

"They are?"

"Yea..."

"Lighten up, c'mon get up here."

Andrea groaned and climbed up the tree, AJ assisted her. They sat together in silence listening to the quiet chirping of nearby crickets.

"Remember this treehouse?" AJ asked suddenly.

Andrea smiled, "We had a lot of good times here," she sighed, "till you left."

"Did I note a hint of something?"

"Of what?"

"Sadness, resentment?"

"No, it's just... I really missed you, AJ."

He looked down, ashamed, "I really should've kept in touch."

He touched the side of her cheek lightly.

She smiled shyly as his thumb caressed her cheek.

He leaned forward and kissed her lips. She never remembered it feeling this way, her emotions ran wild and she couldn't focus on anything between the taste of his tongue and the feeling of his hands caressing her neck.

He kissed her cheek and made his way to her earlobe. He nibbled while Andrea tried to avoid the sensations overflowing her sex-starved body.

"You like that baby?" He whispered.

Her voice caught in her thought but she managed to stutter a coarse, "Yes,"

AJ kissed his way down her neck to her collarbone, she threw her head back when she realized AJ had stopped.

"Wha - What's wrong?"

He looked down, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that."

Andrea was silent. AJ sat for a moment and climbed down the treehouse. Andrea watched as he walked into his house. She curled in a ball, confused. 'What did I do wrong?'

*The next day*

"Nothing, you did absolutely nothing wrong..." Miranda comforted her friend.

"I know you think I'm dumb." Andrea sighed.

"Not dumb Andi, inexperienced, there's nothing wrong with that,"

"I'm sick of being inexperienced," Andrea whinned.

"Nah, it's not all it's cracked up to be," Miranda told her wisely.

Andrea smiled, she started to lie her head down when the phone rang, "Get that." She said to Miranda.

"Yeah...uh huh, hang on."

'Nick' she mouthed to Andrea.

"Hey," She said taking the phone from Miranda.

"Are you still planning to go to that party tonight?"

Andrea sat for a moment, "I forgot about, it."

"Is that a no?"

"No."

"Is that a yes?"

"No," she laughed.

"Listen. AJ told me what happened."

Andrea grumbled, "He's sorry, emotions get out of hand really easily you know..."

"Thanks AJ."

"Sorry," Nick said.

"I guess I'll be there."

"Do you want to follow us there? Or what?"

"That's find, can I bring Miranda?"

"Of course."

"All right,"

"See you at eight?"

"Yeah, bye Nick."

~

Nick was pleased when he saw Andrea and Miranda walking down the driveway to Andrea’s car.

“Andrea!” He called from AJ’s front porch.

“Hey.” He looked her up and down, from her tan suede halter-top to her dark brown knee-length skirt.

“You look beautiful,” Nick told her honestly.

She blushed, “Thanks, you look really nice.” Andi’s attention was distracted when she saw AJ emerge from his house with his dark sunglasses over his eyes.

“Hey And!” He called as he made his way over.

Since he was acting so normal Andrea saw no reason to make a big deal out of the night before.

“Hey AJ,”

“Are you guys ready?”

“Sure…” Miranda said from the passenger side door.

“Let’s go,” Nick said walking back across the lawn toward AJ’s car.

“Follow us.” AJ winked at Andi and jogged back to his house.

*At the Party*

”You wouldn’t want to dance?” AJ asked Andi. She looked over at Nick for reassurance, he looked at her with a certain sadness but urged her to go.

“Sure.” Andi got up and was led by AJ to the center of the room where people were dancing. AJ held her body close to his own.

“I’m sorry about last night,” He said in her ear not interrupting their erotic dance.

Andi continued to grind against his body, “No big deal.”

“It’s a big deal.”

The two continued in silence as sweat beaded on their foreheads.

Nick watched from the side, disgusted.

“What’s wrong with you?” Miranda asked him.

“Well,” he sighed, “Nevermind.”

“It has to do with Andi, right?”

Nick nodded, “I know it’s dumb,”

"Nah, go ahead."

"I really like her, and I hate sitting by and watching her get hurt by him."

"She's not dumb," Miranda told him, "she's not going to set herself up."

Nick sighed, "You're probably right."

~On the dance floor~

"Do you think," AJ said heatedly, "that we could go back to my place and talk?"

Andrea bucked her hips against him and whispered gruffly, "talk?"

AJ swallowed and nodded. The song ended and they walked off the dancefloor breathless.

They walked back to the table where Nick was sitting alone looking sad.

"Do you want to talk?" Andi asked.

He looked up at her, got up and walked outside.

"I should go talk to him..." Andrea said concerned.

"What about going back to my place?" Andi took one look in his eyes and agreed to talk to Nick later.

"Miranda?"

"Yeah?"

"Would you mind taking Nick home?" Miranda looked from AJ to Andi disgusted,

"sure." She said grabbing Andi's keys and walking outside.

"What's with everyone?"

AJ shook his head, "I don't know." He placed his hand on her waist and led her to his car.
