Jacqueline and AJ just stood there holding hands, and just looking into one another's eyes. Seconds later, they finally let go of each other's hands. A strand of Jacqueline's hair fell in front of her eyes. She lifted her arm to pull the strand away.
"Oh my God, your arm." AJ said.
"What?" Jacqueline asked, while examining her arm.
"You're bleeding." AJ said while turning Jacqueline's arm to show her the cut.
"Oh I must've did it when I fell against the side of the house."
"Why don't you come inside? I mean, my mom's a nurse and everything, and I'm pretty much a pro at that kind of stuff. I promise, I'm not a psycho murderer or anything."
Jacqueline laughed.
"Ok. can you help me over?" Jacqueline asked.
"Sure." Jacqueline starts to climb over the fence. AJ put his hands on her waist, and helped Jacqueline over.
"Careful. Watch your arm." Jacqueline finally got over the side of the fence.
AJ's hands were still on her hips, and the two were standing dangerously close to one another.
"Um...thanks." Jacqueline finally said.
"No problem." For a moment neither of them could move. Most people say, silence is deadly. To Jacqueline it was bittersweet.
"Um...let's go inside." AJ finally said, while removing his hands from her waist.
"OK." AJ led Jacqueline by the hand to the front of his house. They walked up his steps, and to his door. AJ opened the door for Jacqueline, and let her walk in first. Jacqueline walked into what seemed to be the living room. AJ shut the door behind him.
"Um...you can go wait in the kitchen. It's right over there. Help yourself to whatever you want."
"Ok thanks." AJ ran upstairs and Jacqueline walked into the kitchen. On the kitchen table there was an empty McDonalds bad, with a half eaten burger and fries. Jacqueline walked over to the kitchen window and looked up at the night sky. AJ was upstairs in the bathroom looking for the Paroxide. He finally found it, and ran out of the bathroom. As he was running past his room he stopped short. He ran into his room, sprayed himself with some cologne, and checked himself out in the mirror. He then ran down the stairs. When he got in the doorway of the kitchen, he just stopped, and stared.
"Oh my God." He said to himself. Jacqueline's back was facing him and she was leaning against the counter, looking out the window. AJ's heart almost stopped, and his breath got caught in his throat.
"Snap out of it McLean! She's just another girl!" He said to himself. He then walked into the kitchen.
"Here we go." He said. Jacqueline turned around, and took one look at the bottle of Paroxide.
"Oh no! No way! Not happening!"
"What?"
"You are not putting that stuff on my arm! That burns!"
"OH come on, it's not that bad." AJ started to walk closer to Jacqueline. She immediately backed away. AJ laughed.
"Come on. Please?"
"Look you don't understand. Do anything else you want to me, but not that!"
"Anything?" AJ thought to himself. "Alright, then just sit down at the table and relax. I promise I won't bite." Jacqueline looked at AJ and then walked over to the table and sat down. AJ sat down with her.
"I'm sorry. I can just go, because you're eating and all." Jacqueline said.
"No it's ok. I'm not that hungry anyway. So...uh tell me. How do you know Ray and Nicole?"
"Oh our parents are very close. They went to high school together."
"I've seen you there a few times, with this blonde guy. Is he your boyfriend or something?" As AJ is talking to Jacqueline, he took her arm without her noticing, and started to clean it with the Paroxide.
"No! That's my brother Joey. We're twins."
"Really?!" AJ said while looking up. "You guys looking nothing alike."
"Yeah, him and my older brother Jason look more alike, then me and him do."
"Oh, so you have two brothers?"
"Yeah. Jason's a year older and Joey's a minute older than me."
"Is your brother Jason Catalano?"
"He probably knows Jason from Blood. There goes another good guy." Jacqueline said to herself. "Um...yeah...that's him."
"I have Media Arts class with him, and Ray. Ray is so funny."
"Don't say that to Nicole. He tortures her." AJ smiled.
"Her room window and my room window are right next to each other, and I saw when he poured water over her, when she was sleeping. That was funny." Jacqueline started to laugh.
"She was so pissed that day."
"All done."
"Huh?"
"Your arm." Jacqueline looked down at her arm to see a band aid. "I told you I wouldn't bite."
"Thank you."
"No problem. Are you sure you don't want anything? You want a coke or something?"
"Um...I'll have a coke." AJ walked over to the fridge and got a coke for Jacqueline.
"Thanks." She said, as he handed her the coke.
"So...um...was that your cat?"
"No, I don't have any pets. I think that was Trigger from the house behind me. He loves my garbage cans. I hate cats. I'm about this close to shooting him." Jacqueline laughed.
"Can you tell I'm not an animal lover?"
"Well, you'd love my dog."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah. He's the sweetest dog you'll ever meet."
"Yeah, I'm so sure." AJ said sarcastically.
"I'm serious."
"Yeah ok."
"Come with me to my house then. I have to walk him anyway."
"Now?" AJ asked.
"Yes now. Unless your busy...or afraid." Jacqueline said with a sly smile on her face.
"Oh, no you didn't!" AJ said while standing up. Jacqueline laughed at AJ, and then stood up and said,
"Oh yes I did!"
"Girl, I may be a lot of thinks, but scared isn't one of them." Jacqueline then leaned in close to AJ's face.
"Then prove it."
"Alright. What do you want me to do?"
"Come to my house and meet my dog."
"Ok, let's go. I'll drive." AJ grabbed his car keys off the kitchen counter, and him and Jacqueline went outside to his car. AJ opened the passenger side for Jacqueline.
"Oh what a gentleman! Thank you." Jacqueline said while smiling.
"I try." AJ walked to the drivers side and got in. He put his seat belt on, and started the car.
"AJ this seat belt won't work." AJ looked over at Jacqueline, and noticed her struggling with her seat belt.
"Oh yeah, I have to fix that. It gets jammed sometimes. Hold on." AJ unbuckled his seat belt and leaned across the seat to fix my seat belt. He didn't seem to realize that he was pretty much on top of me. I noticed! My heart began to pound and being this close to him was driving me crazy. He smelled so good. AJ then realized that he was laying across Jacqueline's chest. He slowly moved away, as his hands accidentally brushed up against certain areas of Jacqueline's body.
"Sorry." He said, obviously embarrassed.
"It's ok." They both buckled their seat belts.
"Alright you just to tell me where your house is."
"Well, you have to pull out of the driveway first." Jacqueline said with a smirk on her face.
"Funny." AJ pulled out of the driveway.
"Ok, make a right and keep going straight."
"Got ya." Jacqueline proceeded to give AJ directions to her house and about five minutes later, they were on her block.
"Ok, I'm the fifth house on the right." AJ pulled up to Jacqueline's dark house, and parked the car right in front. They both got out of the car, and walked up the driveway together.
"I hate coming home to a dark house. I forgot to turn on the light before I left."
"You want me to go in first?" AJ offered.
"No it's alright." Jacqueline unlocked the door. Her house was pitch black.
"Here, give me your hand. I don't want you tripping over furniture or anything." AJ gave Jacqueline his hand, and she carefully led him inside the house. She reached over and turned on a lamp. "Follow me." Jacqueline said as she started to go up the stairs, never letting of AJ's hand.
"You know, we just met. Do you really think you should be leading me up the stairs? I mean, what kind of guy do you think I am?" AJ said jokingly.
"One who manages to jump in front of cars to save a girl he doesn't know, but is scared to death of dogs."
"Hey! I am not afraid of dogs!" Jacqueline laughed. She led AJ down the hallway and right into her room. They finally released hands. "Nice room." AJ said, while looking around.
"Thanks. You can take your jacket off. Just throw it on the bed. Sorry the bed's a mess. I took a nap, when I got home from school."
"Don't worry about it. You should see my bed."
"I wish." Jacqueline said under her breath. "I'm gonna call Max. Are you sure you're not afraid?"
"Please! I already told you. I'm not afraid of dogs."
"Max!" Jacqueline yelled. About ten seconds later Max come running in Jacqueline's room.
"Except that one!" AJ ran right behind Jacqueline. Jacqueline went hysterical laughing.
"I thought you weren't afraid of dogs." Jacqueline said teasingly.
"You didn't tell me you had a big dog with really big teeth! Really, really big teeth! Huge teeth!" Jacqueline laughed, as Max came closer. AJ grabbed onto Jacqueline.
"Alright, calm down. Max on the bed." Max jumped right on Jacqueline's bed, and laid down right on AJ's jacket. "Oh your jacket!"
"He can keep it." Jacqueline grabbed AJ's hand and walked over to the bed.
"Sit down." She said.
"Are you crazy?!" AJ let go of Jacqueline's hand. Jacqueline grabbed it again.
"Look, he might look like a monster and he night look like he wants to kill you, but I promise you, he is very gentle." Max then jumped off the bed. AJ subconsciously pulled Jacqueline closer. Max walked right up to them and sat down and cried. "See! You insulted him!" Jacqueline said.
"He doesn't hold grudges, does he?" AJ asked nervously.
"Well, let's see." Jacqueline walked way from AJ, and sat on her bed, leaving AJ standing there. Max walked closer to AJ and stood on his hind legs and put his other legs on AJ's shoulders.
"Uh Jacqueline, what's he doing?" AJ asked while shaking.
"Awwwww he likes you. That's how he gives hugs. AJ, Max. Max this is..."
"Lunch." Jacqueline went hysterical laughing.
"Ok, ok. Max say good bye to AJ." Max licked AJ's face, jumped off of him, and left the room. "You see, that wasn't so bad. I told you he was very gentle."
"Do you happen to have an oxygen tank available?" Jacqueline smiled. The two were then silent.
"So, um...you can sit down." Jacqueline said awkwardly. AJ walked over to the bed and sat down next to Jacqueline. They once again sat in silence. AJ finally broke the silence.
"How's your arm?" Jacqueline looked down at her cut, that was bandaged, thanks to AJ.
"Oh fine, thanks to you. You know, I really can't thank you enough for saving me today. It all happened so fast. How did you manage to get me out of the way?"
"I don't know. Like you said, it all happened so fast. I just saw you and the car, and the next thing I knew we were both on the floor."
"Well, thank you, thank you, thank you so much. For everything. If there's anything you want, just ask. I don't even know how I would being to repay you."
"Go out with me."
