Confused Love

~Chapter 1~

THURSDAY

Heidi hears a knock at her apartment door and goes to answer it.

“Hello, may I help you with something?” Heidi asks not recognizing the person standing in front of her.

“Um, yeah. I’m looking for a girl named Heidi?” the man asks.

“I’m Heidi.” Heidi answers. “What do you need?”

“Well, I’m Mike from Jive records and we received your demo tape. We thought it was fabulous and would like to talk with you about a record contract.” the man said.

“Demo, I didn’t send you any demo tape. Are you sure you have the right girl?’ Heidi responded.

“You are Heidi Elliott right? Mike double checked.

“Yeah, I am, but like I said I didn’t send you a demo tape.” Heidi argued.

“It says here that a friend of yours sent it in.” Mike replied. “Can you come to JIVE records at 3pm to talk about a record deal?”

“I don’t know. I’m a student. I don’t really have much time and I’m not even sure I want a record deal. I might come.” Heidi said.

“Great, I’ll see you at 3pm then. Just ask for Mike Davis.” Mike said leaving.

LATER THAT DAY

Heidi’s roomate, Misty, just walked in.

“Misty, did you send a tape of me singing to JIVE records?” Heidi asked thinking the friend who sent in the tape had to be Misty.

“Of course not. Why would I do that?” Misty responded sarcastically.

“Misty, why did you do that?” Heidi said.

“Well, I don’t know. I guess I did it because I know how much you love music and you are a really good singer. I wanted to help you get a music career. It always used to be a dream of yours.” Misty replied.

“Yeah, used to be. I have so much going on for me. I go to college full time and work part time as a fashion designer. When would I have time to have a music career, too?” Heidi sounded kinda frustrated.

“Heidi, don’t be mad I was just trying to help. Music has always been your true love. I thought if you got a good break you would find the time and maybe even quit doing some of the other stuff. You are so stressed out. You never have anytime for yourself. When was the last time you actually went out to have for or go on a date. All you do is turn the guys down right and left because you have to work or study. When is it time to play. You never even have time to shop anymore. I’m worried about you.” Misty said concerned.

“Why go out on a date and get involved with another guy, so i can get my heart broken again. It’s not worth it. Love is nothing, but heartache. Besides I like designing clothes and education is to better my future. I don’t have time for anything else.” Heidi replied.

“Just go to JIVE and talk about a record contract with them as a favor to me. If after you talk to them you don’t want to sign you don’t have to and I’ll drop harrassing you about it. Please, for me.” Misty told Heidi.

“Ok, I’ll go, but only as a favor to you.” Heidi responded. “I guess I better go get ready then.”

“Great, I’ll see you when you get back and you have to tell me every little detail.” Misty said.

After Heidi changed and got ready she went to JIVE records to talk about the record contract like she told Misty she would.

“Hello, I’m here to see a Mike Davis.” Heidi told the front desk clerk.

“Do you have an appointment?” Tina, the desk clerk asked.

“I believe so.” Heidi said not knowing for sure if she did or not.

“Well, your name please?” Tina asked impatiently.

“Heidi Elliott.” Heidi responded.

“Ok, just go on into conference room 6 and he’ll be right with you.” Tina said very rudely.

“Where is that?” Heidi asked.

“Look girlie I am really busy and you are taking up alot of my time could you possibly just look around.” Tina raised her voice.

“Well, excuse me then. It’s my first time in this building and I have no idea where anything is. So, why don’t you just shut up and do your job by helping me before I decided to stick my foot up your butt, so you’ll have an excuse to be so moody.” Heidi replied raising her voice to.

“Oh, and I’m moody.” Tina answered.

“I couldn’t help, but over hear. Could I possibly help you. Tina is always rude like that. It’s useless to say anything to her.” a young man tapped Heidi on the shoulder and asked.

“Oh my God, your Justin Timberlake of NSYNC!” Heidi exclaimed.

“Yeah, and you are?” Justin asked.

“Suprised to see you, no really my name is Heidi.” Heidi replied.

“Well, Heidi your a beautiful girl.” Justin said.

“Thank you!” Heidi answered flattered by the compliment.

“So, what can I help you with?” Justin asked.

“I’m here to meet a Mike Davis in conference room 6 and i have no idea where it is?” Heidi responded.

“Oh, just follow me.” Justin said. “So, what are you meeting Mike for if you don’t mind me asking?”

“Well, my room mate sent in a demo tape of me and now Jive wants to sign me, but i’m not sure that’s what I want. I mean music is and always will be my true love, but I have so much going on right now.” Heidi answered.

“It’s a lot to give up if you do decide to go for it, but a lot of times it’s worth it.” Justin told Heidi. “Well, this is it.”

“Thanks for everything Justin. It was a dream to meet you and your everything I always thought you would be.” Heidi said.

“Look, could we maybe have dinner later or something? I would love to get to know you more.” Justin asked.

“Are you asking me on a date, Justin, because if you are I would love to.” Heidi said.

“Ok, great. Where can I pick you up at?” Justin asked.

Heidi got a piece of paper and pen out of her purse and started writing something.

“Here” she said handing the paper to Justin. “This is my address.”

“Is 8pm good for you?” Justin asked.

“Sounds good.” Heidi replied.

“See ya then.” Justin smiled and said goodbye.

“See ya.” Heidi smiled back.

Heidi stepped into the conference room and sat down. She couldn’t believe she was going on a date with Justin Timberlake that very night. Soon, Mike walked in with a few other guys in suits. Heidi felt very underdressed in her Mudd flare jeans and a butterfly baby doll top.

“So, you decided to come.” Mike said. “We were all hoping you would.”

“Yeah, but I’m still not sure about it all. I’m just here to see what you have to say. I’m not making any promises, yet.” Heidi told Mike and the others.

“Ok, that’s fine. All we want is the chance to be heard and to try to convince you it’s a great deal. Which if I may say so, off the record, is probably the best record deal this company and many others have ever been so generous to offer.” Mike said. “So, shall we begin.”

After two hours of sitting in the conference room and talking with Mike and the other gentlemen Heidi was really considering the possibility of become a professional singer. Soon, the discussion was over. Heidi and the others were walking out the door. Then Mike pulled Heidi to the side a second.

“Heidi, one more thing. The company and I were wondering if you would sing live on Friday night at Club Jive around 6pm, so a few of the suits in the company and others entertainers can observe how the crowd responds to you." Mike told her.

“Of course, I will watch you perform. I would never miss my girl’s debut performance, not for the world.” Justin reassured Heidi. “Why don’t we just wait until after your performance for me to show you what I would like to. You probably have a lot to do for your performance tonight, like getting ready.”

“Actually, your right. I don’t even know what I am going to wear. I think I had better run to a store and pick something out. Would you like to come with me?” Heidi asked.

“Sure, i would. Do you want to drive or would you like me to?” Justin asked.

“I’ll drive. Anyone can recognize your car. I’m glad your coming, especially since you know what the business likes to see on their performers.” Heidi responded.

“I would be more than happy to help you learn what they like to see on performers. It gives me an excuse to stay around you.” Justin replied.

“That’s so sweet!” Heidi said.

Justin and Heidi walked hand-in-hand to where Heidi’s car was parked. They got in and tried to think of a good place to buy showy (as in for performing) clothes.

“Why don’t we go look at Celebrities? That’s where a lot of our concert outfits are from.” Justin suggested.

“Ok, sounds like a good place to me, then.” Heidi replied.

They arrived at Celebrities within ten minutes. They started looking around and there were cute outfits everywhere that could be used for concerts/performances, but nothing was quite Heidi’s particular taste. Heidi was looking for a very unique outfit. Something that will stand out. Something no one has ever seen on anyone else. Something most people wouldn’t dare wear. Heidi being a very outgoing person who could wear anything and make it look good was determined to find something to show her more wild, fun side. After looking around the store for almost two hours Heidi found the perfect outfit. It was a baby blue belly top with a yellow strings for the back in the shape of a butterfly and little yellow butterflies on the bottom of the front and some tight yellow pants and baby blue cuffs on the bottom of each pant leg. Heidi thought this outfit would show her fun-loving, happy-go-lucky, outgoing personality. Heidi tried on the outfit and asked Justin what he thought of it. She really respected his opinion.

“I think it looks fabulous on you. I don’t know anyone else who could make that outfit look so good on them.” Justin said. “Remind me to bring a bat, so I can keep all those guys at the club away from my girl.”

“You are so funny! I’m going to go change and then we can go back to my place.” Heidi said laughing.

“Need any help changing?” Justin joked.

“I think not young man. Be a good boy and wait right here.” Heidi joked along with Justin.

Heidi went to change and when she was done they paid for the outfit and left to go back to Heidi’s place. After arriving at Heidi’s apartment building. Heidi and Justin walked hand-in-hand laughing to the elevator of the apartment building. They got in the elevator and they couldn’t stop starring at each other. It was one of those moments in life when everything at the time seems so perfect. Justin moved closer to Heidi and started to kiss her, so passionately. The kiss was so addictive they couldn’t stop kissing. Soon the elevator opened and two little girls about ten years old just starred in amasement at Justin and Heidi who were embracing each other tightly and kissing like star-struck lovers. Heidi and Justin didn’t even notice the doors had opened until the girls started laughing. Heidi and Justin were a little embarrassed and began walking toward Heidi’s apartment. As soon as they got inside of Heidi’s apartment and closed the door they just looked at each other and busted out laughing. After they finished laughing, they decided they would watch a little bit of tv before Heidi had to get ready. Then Justin decided to take Heidi somewhere.

"Where are you taking me?" Heidi asked.

“It’s a surprise. You’ll see when we get there.” Justin said.

“No fun at all. You’re going to kill me of curiosity before we even get there.” Heidi said still in a playful voice.

“I know.” said Justin also joking now. “I’m just no fun at all. Mr. Scrooge, that’s who I am.”

Justin began pulling the car into a parking lot. He had brought Heidi to a local carnival. It was the biggest carnival Heidi had ever seen. After Justin got out of the car and walked around to hold the door open for Heidi, the two walked hand-in-hand towards the carnival talking and laughing the whole time.

“How did you know I loved carnivals?” Heidi asked.

“Lucky guess. Besides if I bring you to a carnival I have the chance of showing off for you and winning you enough stuffed animals to fill the car.” Justin answered.

“Boy are we egotistical.” Heidi responded.

“Oh, look! That looks fun. Do you feel up to the challenge?” Justin asked pointing to a huge rollercoaster-like ride.

“Are you kidding me? That wouldn’t even be a challenge for me.” Heidi said pulling Justin towards it.

“Now, who’s being egotistical?” Justin said smiling at Heidi.

Heidi and Justin rode the rollercoaster-looking ride and had a blast. After that they rode a few more rides and they decided to play some games. Justin was winning a enough stuffed animals to fill the car just like he said. Then he came to this baseball pitching contest. Justin could throw the baseball, but he was definitely not a pitcher. After wasting about eight dollars on the game Heidi asked Justin to give her a try, so of course he did. Heidi won the game on her first try and you get five.

“Wow! You were holding out on me. Where did you learn to pitch like that?” Justin asked in amazement.

“Well, I was a pitcher in softball sometimes and baseball isn’t that different.” Heidi responded.

When asked which prize she would like Heidi’s eyes wandered and fell upon a little girl about six who looked homeless and was staring at the carnival from a tree nearby.

“Oh, I’m sorry.” Heidi said. “Can I get that teddybear with the pink bow please.”

The man gave Heidi the teddybear and Heidi asked Justin to come with her a minute. Then Heidi led Justin over near the tree the little girl was standing at. She motioned to the little girl with the teddybear not wanting to scare her. When the little girl came a little bit closer Heidi handed her the teddybear and smiled at her. The little girl looked up at Heidi and Justin after taking the bear and said thank you, then she ran off in the opposite direction. Suddenly it started pouring down ran. Heidi and Justin ran for the car. Once they got inside they sat there and laughed.

“That was a really nice thing you did for that little girl, Heidi.” Justin said after he stopped laughing.

“I just feel so sorry for people so unfortunate. I wish there was more I could do for her and others like her.” Heidi replied.

“You have such a kind heart. You should be more cautious. Someone might take advantage of you or take something unexpectantly.” Justin responded.

“To late for that.” Heidi said and Justin just looking at her with a puzzled face. “I think you already stole my heart.”

“I think you stole mine, too.” Justin said and with that moved closer to Heidi and kissed her with all the passion in the world.

By this time everyone at the carnival had already packed up and left due to the rain. Heidi opened the car door and got out of the car. Then she stood in the middle of the road with her arms spread wide and spinning around with her head in the direction of the sky.

“What are you doing? Are you crazy? You’re going to catch pneumonia.” Justin said with a weird look on his face getting out of the car.

“I’m ub owner congratulated Heidi and told her that even though it wasn’t a paying gig she deserved money for a performance like that. Then Justin, Joey, and Jc came up to Heidi. Justin embraced Heidi and gave her a big kiss.

“You were great.” Justin said.

“Joey and Chris said you were amaxing and to let you knowthey were tired otherwise they would have stayed to support you.” JC told Heidi. “I personally, think you would make a great singer and don’t know why you haven’t already been signed to a record company for some time.”

“That goes for me, too. You have a very pretty voice.” Lance agreed.

“Thank you all for coming and supporting me. I feel like I couldn’t have made it through the night without knowing you were all here cheering me on.” Heidi said. “Maybe we can have all have lunch sometime, but right now I am really tired and if you guys don’t mind I would like to go home and get some sleep.”

“Not at all. You must be exhausted. Good night.” JC said giving Heidi a kiss on the cheek.

“Sweet dreams.” Lance said also giving Heidi a kiss on the cheek.

Lance and JC went in one car and Heidi and Justin got in Justin’s car. On the way to Heidi’s apartment Heidi fell asleep in the car. By the time they arrived at her apartment she was out cold. Justin saw Heidi’s apartment keys on her lap and decided instead of waking Heidi who looked so peaceful in her sleep, he would just carry her to her apartment and lay her on her bed. After Justin got Heidi in her apartment and on her bed he took off her shoes, covered her with blankets, gave her a kiss goodnight, and went on his way to his house, so he could get some sleep himself.
