Diane's Thoughts

First, I’m 22, so don’t give me any shit for being a screaming teenybopper. I get enough of that from my boyfriend. LOL I like reading BSB fanfics to unwind and imagine I’m the lucky girl in the story. I don’t like reading about everyone’s sexual exploits. Don’t call me a prude or pathetic or naïve – I just don’t care to read that stuff. Sure, I like reading Harlequin romance novels too, but there’s a difference between romance and the trash in so many stories out there on the Internet.

I’m old enough to watch, to rent, and to purchase adult books, videos, and other paraphernalia, but just because I can doesn’t mean I do.

No matter what the BSB have done or still do in their private lives, it doesn’t mean that they have to be portrayed like they are in certain stories. I’ve met the woman who is now married to Brian on several occasions. Leighanne is a sweet woman who loves Brian very much. She is a very private person and I can’t see her being comfortable if she came across these sort of stories on the Internet. I don’t care how secure you are in a relationship, but you can’t tell me that there haven’t been times when she has felt uncomfortable with things fans have said about Brian or her or the other guys.

She doesn’t have an easy job being married and loving one of the most desired and popular performers on the planet. I’m sure these sexfics don’t make her any happier. I know I wouldn’t want to go online and read some story about a girl I’d never met doing all sorts of sexual things with my boyfriend. And people start to wonder why the girlfriends/wives aren’t always 100% happy when the fans are around. Given their experiences and these stories, do you blame them for being a little hostile at times?

I think WWTT has the right idea. If you don’t care what the BSB think or what their girlfriends or wives think about what you’re writing, then you must not be the fan that you say you are.
