Current Issue Two: Supporters vs. Non-Supporting Websites

Over the past few months, the WWTT guestbook and email has received many requests for the issue of Supporters "attacking" non-supporting websites/owners to be addressed.

Our first course of action was to respond personally to each and every mention of these attacks. We apologized because we had no idea this was going on. And it certainly wasn't our intention for this to happen. We even put a formal apology on the Concept page when the site was revamped. We have even gone so far as to ask "attacked" website owners to send us the offending emails/guestbook entries along with the names and emails of the offending persons and we would personally contact the offenders and talk to them about this.

WWTT respects everyone's decision to post whatever they want to on their own websites. We have always said that if you don't agree with what we have to say, that's fine with us. The What Would They Think? Fanfic Challenge is merely an informational and awareness site that asks you to think about the subjects of the fanfic you are about to read/write. But you don't have to ask yourself that question if you don't want to. That's the beauty of being able to make a personal choice - You don't have to do anything that you don't want to.

The only things that WWTT has refused to do are:
1. Take down this site, and

It was our choice to put this page up, and it will be our choice to take this page down. We will not take it down simply because you do not agree with what we have to say. Like everyone keeps telling us, if you don't like it, leave. No one is making you stay here.

2. Take responsibility for the actions of others.
It is incredibly unfair for anyone to blame us for the actions another has taken. We did not, nor do we, ask anyone to attack or belittle any site or person simply because of the material posted there. Some people are overly zealous by nature and will take an idea and run with it. We are not to blame for that. Like it was said before, if this happens to you, send the evidence our way and we will deal with it. However, we will not take the blame for what they did. We just want to help you deal with the situation.

TO ALL THE WWTT SUPPORTERS: In response to the number of requests made from "attacked" website owners, we at WWTT ask that you do not attack, flame, criticize, or give any bad publicity to any site or person that does not agree with WWTT or support WWTT. Everyone is entitled to their own decisions regarding this matter.

It's okay to email someone and tell them about WWTT if you think they might be interested. It's not okay to rant and rave and accuse someone because of something you read here at WWTT (excluding guestbook entries).

EVERYONE, Supporters and Non-Supporters alike need to remember that there is a real person receiving those emails or guestbook entries. No one likes being told that what they're doing is wrong or bad or stupid *ahem, including us*, so let's try to promote RESPECT among each other.

Just remember:

"In a medium, such as the Internet, it's difficult to word things so that everyone understands exactly where you are coming from. Especially when the target audience ranges from pre-teen to educated professional. Nuances are not picked up well on the Net."
