- In 1962, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr "Richard Starky"
known as The Beatles were struggling to record their first songs. But only one year later,
their first single Please Please Me went straight up the charts and was followed up
by their single Love Me Do. They began touring and recording their first LP for Parlophone
and was released in the U.S. in late March. The record was a success and towards the end of '63
they started planning a trip to the U.S. for a tour. They arrived in New York's airport February
7, 1964 and to The Beatles surprise the fans were overwhelming. They began touring and appeared
on televised programs, such as the Ed Sullivan Show. They returned to England, March 2 to begin
filming A Hard Day's Night. While they were making their second LP, A Hard Day's Night
they released singles that went to the top ten in America. The film was released in July and soon
after the film soundtrack went to number one. After a few more tours in England, the group set off
for a major tour in America.
