Led Eastern League shortstops in total chances in 1995, while hitting .267 and stealing 23 bases

Won 1997 Silver Slugger Award.

Nomar (his middle name) is the reverse spelling of his father's name, Ramon.

He also played 2nd base in the minors.

Nomar is the first 20-20 Red Sox since John Valentin.

He won the first ever Rookie Home Run Derby with 5 home runs.
