SABRE CROSSING
Welcome to the sabre line web page! This page is being updated as often as I can get it done! Well, this summer was definitely a big learning experience for us. We have an awesome sabre feature for "Turn, Turn, Turn" thanks to Zani, Amy, and the effort you all put into learning the routine in a little over a week.
Well, now that the compliments have been given...let's go right into announcements.
Don't forget to bring water to practices. We are practicing outdoors in the Florida heat. You need to dress accordingly. Please..don't forget to bring your gloves. In case you haven't realized, the blade of the sabre does hurt. Please bring gloves to protect those hands(and what nails you might have!)
I have no more tips for the ends of your sabres, so please don't ask. There are very no bolts left, so please avoid anything that would break them(see below). If you have a problem with your tip, see me so I can tell you how to fix it until we get in the new shipment of tips.
In addition, a word to those who keep breaking the bolts in their hilts...if you try not to let the hilt hit the floor, you will preserve your bolts longer. This includes tapping or hitting your hilt against the ground...especially hard wood floors and pavement.
Please try to keep your sabres as clean as possible. When they were assigned, each one was completely cleaned, taped and almost spotless(I know...I cleaned them ALL). Please try to keep them clean. In addition, your sabres MUST BE CLEAN before each game! I will check them before practices and shows (and especially competitions!). I know they will get slightly dirty during practice, but none of them should be grey or black! Please get them as white as they were when I passed them out. Thanks a bunch!!
Remember to be practicing your blade triples and your regular tosses!! That last toss WILL REMAIN IN THE SHOW, and I really would like for it to look awesome on the field (I have no doubt that it will, or course). Keep practicing. By the way, if you happen to hurt yourself on sabre, make sure you put ice on it and rest.
A word to all of my line, please don't get discouraged. A lot of pressure is put on the weapons because you are the top of the guard. The only way you can advance to this or to majo is by first mastering flag. When Shawn yells, it is because the flags are looking to us as role models. Please, keep a positive air about you, no matter what happens.
Keep up the good work and dedication (I've noticed you taking home your sabres!) that you all have already shown me. The summer provisional period is obviously over! Unless some major thing happens, you guys are MINE!! Just joking, you know I love you all!(reminder...they are mostly in rank order starting with the weapon's captains...they do not indicate who is better than who).
Keep in mind that the deciding date is over...you may all breathe a sigh of relief!!!! Band camp over now, too! All we have are practices, games and competitions (which are closer than you think!). Keep practicing. SABRES FOREVER!!
Much love to my new line,
Heather Fuller
