We want to thank you for dropping in. Carlene and Russ have retired and moved to Burnsville, North Carolina. This is the view from our porch.

We update the link to Jennifer's Memorial Scholarship page, but any new photos since 20010 are now on Facebook as it is much easier to update. Some of the links on this page were through Homestead.com which is broken so they are lost forever!!

Attached are some photos from our time in Boca Grande, Florida from 1999-200. One shows Carlene at a loggerhead turtle nest with the crawl to and from the nest in the foreground. There were 31 nests in her 2 mile stretch of beach she patroled last summer. The first nest hatched Saturday July 10, 1999. Thirty-three little tracks to the water. One baby turtle was too fatigued to make it without help and had to have his airway cleared of egg debris and then was placed in the Gulf of Mexico and swam away towards Mexico. Good luck! All the nests have now hatched. Unfortunately several were washed out by the tropical storms this summer as we found hundreds of damaged eggs washed up on the beach afterwards. It is estimated only one in 10,000 makes it to maturity.
