Eastern Screech Owl *
Fairly common resident throughout the region usually close to human structures. They respond well to owl tapes, and a half dozen may be heard in a few minutes in prime locations. LCBC high count of 18 in 1974.

Great Horned Owl *
An uncommon resident of pinelands of the county. Sometimes occupy nests of osprey and eagles in late winter and spring. In Feburary 2002, ten nests were located on the crossbars of large electric pylons in the PPMs. LCBC high count of 14 in 1967.

Barred Owl *
A fairly common resident of forested wetlands throughout the county. LCBC high count of 17 in 1978.

Burrowing Owl *
A rare resident of open country and pastures, formerly more common. LCBC high count of 2 in 1969. (SSC)
