Part Three: Rivals
A.J. has always been an early bird so he was the first to awake. He set off for an early morning walk. He found a trail and followed it for a while. He was just about to turn around and walk back to get us up when he heard a muffled voice. , it sounded as if the creature he heard was in pain. He looked around. . He looked around more until he saw a small blue object. He rushed over. It was a Squirtle! As he examined it closer it seemed to be caught. The poor Squirtle was caught in a Pokemon trap. It's illegal to do that A.J. thought. He tried to free the small blue turtle but to no avail. Suddenly he got an idea. He through one of his spare pokeballs at Squirtle, and caught it. He had caught his first Pokemon. A Squirtle! He ran back to the campsite pokeball in hand. He frantically woke us. "Go Squirtle", A.J. yelled. Squirtle popped out of the pokeball and looked around. It saw A.J. and ran to him. It jumped and landed in A.J.'s arms. Where did you find it Mike babbled. He still was half-asleep. He was caught in a Pokemon trap. "Well, I guess you’re the first one of us to catch a Pokemon huh" Mike said. "Yep, and I call him Squirt", said A.J. with a smile. We ate breakfast and headed to the edge of town. There were a few trainers already there. A lady in the middle was giving a speech. She said that it was the new Pokecenter (short for Pokemon Center) job to give free lodging to all Pokemon trainers. I spotted Andy so I knew the dirtbag Paul would be close by. They were also traveling together.
We started walking but Paul (an enemy of mine, as you already know) called us. We walked over. He pointed to a clearing and said, "Lets Battle. Me and you, Joe (not my real name but it's what I will be called)", he said. "Alright, lets go", I said. Go Jynx, I yelled. "Go Exeggcute!" He yelled. Yes I thought, a grass pokemon, there weak against Ice. Psy beam I yelled, Exeggcute was hurt but could still fight. Hypnosis Exeggcute, Paul yelled. Jynx staggered and almost fell but stayed awake. Psy beam again Jynx, Exeggcute was almost finished. It was too weak to attack, Paul called it back. "Good work Jynx", I commented come back. A read beam shot out of the pokeball and Jynx disappeared. "Your lucky", Paul said. "No, I'm just that good", I replied. A.J. and Mike laughed and Paul and Andy walked away. "Well boys it looks as if we took out the trash", I said. "Took it out good", Mike replied. "Whatever", A.J. said, lets get going. A.J. decided to let Squirtle out and walk with us. We walked and walked until we saw a clearing wear we could camp. We made camp and ate dinner. Mike and I set off to explore; A.J. watched camp because we had heard that Team Rocket was in the area. We didn't find anything interesting except for a cave that we would investigate tomorrow. As we were walking back I stopped to tie my shoe. Mike didn't see or hear me so he kept walking. Suddenly I heard some squawking. I looked up and saw a fleet of Zubat. "Go Jynx", I exclaimed. She popped out of the pokeball and looked around. Psy Beam one of those Zubat in the air Jynx. She hit what seemed to be the leader of the group. It fell from the sky and was about to hit the ground when Jynx rushed over and caught it. It wasn't badly injured but could not fly. I threw a pokeball and caught my first Pokemon. We rushed back to tell A.J. who we found asleep. We made our beds, hid our pokeballs, and went to sleep.
