I sat in a room filled with computers. I was in the new trainer's section of Willow Towns Pokemon Center. It is one of the biggest Pokemon centers in the world. My friends, A.J., Mike, Nick, and me were all taking our Pokemon test. If we passed the test we would get our trainers degree and a Pokemon. All the questions were easy for me and I was sure that I had passed. I had one question left; it was an essay on your favorite Pokemon. I chose Venasaur, but I also mentioned Articuno. I figured this would determine which pokemon I got. I got up and told Officer Jenny that I was done. I met my friends outside. Everyone was confident except for Nick. He was worried he didn't pass. Officer Jenny invited all of the future Pokemon trainers into a room. She told us she would call out everyone who passed the test. Everyone was nervous but I knew I had passed. She Started to call out names, Mark, Jon, Zac, Joe, (Yes that’s me), Mike (one of my friends), Tony, Lisa, Angei, Courtney, Jack, Alex, A.J. (another friend), Robert, Clay, Rob, Rocko, Paul (my worst enemy, we are always putting each other down), and Andy (my enemies friend). Nick hadn't been called. He would have to wait and take the test again in two months. He couldn't join my friends and I who were traveling together. He was devastated; we almost decided to postpone our journey. Mike, A.J., and I ran to the new Pokemon Center. All of these Pokemon were never trained for any attacks. They obey trainers very well though. Mike was first; five pokeballs were handed to him. One had a Pokemon in it. He called out his Pokemon, it was a Tarous! "Just what I wanted he exclaimed. A.J. stepped up, he got his pokeballs, called out a Pokemon, and it was A Persian! I was next, what would I get. I called out my Pokemon. It was a Jynx. I love ice Pokemon! We rushed outside. We found Nick studying A Pokemon book. This would be the last time we saw Nick for a long time! We said our good-byes and Nick promised t catch up with us someday. We all went home to be with our families, because tomorrow we are leaving.
Part Two: The First Battle
We met outside my house at 7:00 AM. We started to bike down the road as we waved to our parents. Once we were about two miles away from my house we spotted an open field. We were all thinking the same thing. "Lets battle" I yelled! We turned into the field and jumped off our bikes. Go Tauros Mike yelled! A.J. called out his Persian. This would be my first time two throw a pokeball. "Gooooo, Jynx! Go" I yelled! Double Slap on Persian Jynx. Jynx whizzed over to Persian. It was knocked over. "Tackle Persian Tauros" yelled Mike. "Ice beam Persian", Jynx made no response, she didn't know Icebeam yet. "Tackle Persian then" I yelled. Persian was almost gone after the tackle. "Stomp Persian Tauros", it did and Persian was knocked out. "Double Slap Tauros" Tauros, was not affected by the attack. "Stomp Jynx", Mike yelled! Jynx was badly injured; I called back Jynx. Mike had won. Suddenly Jynx started to glow, She smiled and then it all stopped. She must have learned a new move I thought. Icebeam, nothing happened, Lovely Kiss, still nothing, Psy Beam, A multi, color beam shot out of Jynx. Yess! Next Mikes started o rumble. It grunted then it all stopped. "Charge" Mike, yelled! Tauros took off. We looked at A.J.'s Persian. It looked as if it was not going to do anything. We got on our bikes and rolled away. As we were exiting town we saw a Pokemon Center. It was smaller than the other one in town. We stopped by to heal our Pokemon. While our Pokemon where being healed a nurse came to us. "Are you new trainers?" "Yes we are" Mike said. "Good, we always give a complementary M to our new trainers. Each of you will get one. They will help you in your journey." She handed mike a small pokeball. "Your Pokemon eats the small pokeball and he will learn Strength." She handed A.J. another small pokeball. This one is Cut the nurse said. She walked over to me. Now this HM won't do much in battle but it will be very good in dark places. It is called flash. Said the nurse. Ding. Our Pokemon were ready. It was getting dark out so we decided to make camp. We all fed our Pokemon their HMs. Before we started making camp I asked if the others wanted to go on. They both thought they could go another hour or so. But we can't. It's to dark, Mike said. Go Jynx, I exclaimed! Flash! A thirty by thirty-foot area around us lit up. "Let's go, I said. We walked for an hour and a half, Made camp. Fed Pokemon, and ourselves and laid down to sleep.
Part Three: Rivals
A.J. has always been an early bird so he was the first to awake. He set off for an early morning walk. He found a trail and followed it for a while. He was just about to turn around and walk back to get us up when he heard a muffled voice.
Part Four: The Cave
We slept in late the next morning. I was the first to wake up. I woke everybody else up because we weren't supposed to sleep in. We were going to explore the cave today. We were sure there had to be plenty of Pokemon we could catch in there. We started off hoping for a good haul. It was only a mile walk to the cave. As we stepped inside we noticed it was unusually quiet. As we got further away from the entrance it got dark. I got Jynx out and told her to use Flash. She did as we proceeded on. A couple minutes later we noticed a trail of paper that had been next to us the whole time. We thought a person who didn't want to get lost must have left it. "We should have thought of that," A.J. said. I wonder if the person is still here, I questioned. We still had seen no sign of a Pokemon. About two miles in to the cave there was a big clearing. There was a passage leading through to more cave on the other side. I could have sworn I heard voices then but I kept quiet. We rushed thorough the auditorium type structure into the cave. Not too long after this we found another large clearing. We saw that there was no exit and decide to head back when Mike saw something. "Look over there guys", Mike said. We all looked, to our surprise there were to people standing there. They were Team Rocket members! They had a net with them filled with none other than cave dwelling Pokemon! We all got out our Pokemon and charged into the room. The Team Rocket members just stood there wide-eyed and pale. "Go Koffing" one said. The other said "Go Ekans!"
Part Five: Missing Pokemon
We all woke up early and pushed on through the day. At about 2:30 we stopped to rest at a Pokecenter. We had a snack and looked at some of the Pokemon in the Pokemon Store. As we were leaving we saw a poster that stated--Missing Pokemon--Type-Fire--Species-Growlithe--Reward- 10 Pokeballs, 3 surprise TMs, and surprise Pokemon! "Must really like there Growlithe", Mike said. "Yep, do you think we should look for it", I asked? "Sure, but whoever finds it gets the Pokemon and first choice of TM", A.J. replied. We set off toward the back of the Pokecenter. There we found thick woods. We set off going straight into the woods. About a mile into the woods we saw something orange that seemed to glow. We were sure it was the Growlithe but it was a forest fire! "Get Squirt out A.J", I frantically said. Go Squirt, water gun. Water shot out of Squirts mouth. The fire had just started so Squirt put it out fairly quickly. Growlithe had to be the one who set the fire. He had to be the close, the fire was started less than five minutes ago. About three minutes later I heard a whining sound, I rushed toward the whining sound. As I expected it was the Growlithe. I caught it in a Pokeball and we headed back. I got four Pokeballs, A Vulpix, and the TM Fire Spin for it! We traveled a little more but not to far that day. We stopped made camp and enjoyed dinner.
Part Six: The First Gym
The next day took us through some woods. We all caught Caterpies and Weedles. We were running short on Pokeballs. We needed to find a Pokemart. The next town we reached had a Gym! The town was small but was full of Pokemon maniacs. I heard that the Gym Leader had all Grass Pokemon. Growlithe would have no problem. We agreed that we all would get one chance to fight the gym leader. Many people wanted to trade in the town square. I made one trade. A kid about my age wanted to trade me a Zubat for a Bulbasaur. Since Venasaur was my favorite Pokemon I took the trade. I found out that the gym leaders name was Allen. We walked in and were totally bombarded by people slamming and putting down our Pokemon and us. What kind of gym was this? We elected A.J. to go first. Alex was extremely rude too. We were lead to an underground arena. We were told it was a one Pokemon match, and there was no time limit. A.J. chose Persian. "Goo, Ivysaur" Alex yelled! The fight began with the two circling the arena. A couple of vine whips missed Persian. Finally Persian made a move, it jumped at Ivysaur and used pounce. Ivysaur stumbled back, with no time to lose Persian scratched Ivysaur. Pounce, scratch, pounce, scratch, pounce, scratch, this was the best way to defeat Ivysaur A.J. thought. A.J. and Persian had planned this before the match. After about three minutes of non-stop pouncing and scratching Alex called back Ivysaur. Mike and Tauros were next, "Go Tangela" Alex yelled! Right off the bat Tauros charged at Tangela, It was trampled. Tauros turned around and stomped on the poor thing. It constantly stomped for about a minute and then charged. Stomped some more until Alex called back his defeated Tangela. It was finally my turn. Jynx would be my Pokemon. "Go Nidorino" Alex yelled! Jynx quickly used Psy Beam, and then rushed over to tackle Nidorino. She did and almost knocked out Nidorino. Jynx was about to use double slap when Alex though small pokeball out. Nidorino ate it. It was a Super Potion. Jynx tackled but it didn't do much. "Horn attack" Alex commanded. Jynx was hurt. "Psy Beam" I called. They both were hurt about the same. Nidorino was about to use horn attack for the KO "He's gonna use horn attack Jynx, watch out." I yelled. Jynx quickly moved out of the way of the stabbing horns. Jynx powered up Psy Beam and KO'ed Nidorino. "You are all very good" complemented Alex. You all get the Forest badge and my favorite TM, Razor Leaf. Teach it to you best Grass Pokemon. After he was defeated he seemed a lot less rude.
Part Seven: Who Said That?
A.J.'s Persian learned Bite a little later that day. We found a Pokecenter and healed our Pokemon. We decided to take the rest of the day off and explore the town. Squirt and Jynx were walking with us. There were stores all around. Half of them must have been Pokemon stores. We walked into a store called Pokeballz. We were looking at some pokeballs when I heard a strange voice. It said "I like that one, can I have it?" I thought we were alone in the store but it sounded like a girl. The clerk was focussed on a magazine. "Did you guys say something," I asked? "No, but we heard something," they responded. "Hello it's me," the voice said. "Where are you?" I asked? "Next to you". I looked down at Jynx, "Yes, me, hello?" "You can talk" we all exclaimed!
Part Eight: The Hold Up
We woke up early and started down the trail out of the city. The last shop we passed, we decided to check out. It was selling Pokemon. As we walked in we saw no other than the same two team rocket members as before. They had their Koffing and Ekans out. The man was pulling money out of the cash register. We watched on. Then He went to open all of the Pokemon cages. We had to save them. I told Jynx to attack on my command. Mike got out Tauros. "Charge" Mike, yelled. Jynx glowed and used Psy Beam. Ekans got hit with Psy Beam and Koffing got charged. Jynx and Tauros traded opponents. Jynx Psy Beamed Koffing, while Tauros trampled Ekans. Ekans was getting up when Tauros charged it. Jynx psy beamed Koffing one more time. He fell to the ground and Jynx double slapped it. Koffing was knocked out. Tauros finished off Ekans with a good stomping. "Give us the money" I said. They put the money on the counter and called back there Pokemon. "Are you the same rats from the cave?" the asked? "Ya, what's your name" Mike asked? "I am Alex, and she is Amy, we must go now." Alex said. The clerk came running back into the room wonder what had happened. We explained and each got a Pokemon. I got a Scyther, Mike got a Kadabra, and A.J. got a Pinsir. Scyther and Pinsir were on sale and that’s the only reason we could get them. They were free but we could only choose Pokemon under 70 bucks. After we left the shop we headed towards the next town.
Part Nine: The Storm
We walked along an open trail that would lead us to Cling Town. We saw quite a few Pokemon, but most we already had. We could smell it; a storm was coming in. We were fine until it started sprinkling. We were in the middle of nowhere and it was raining. Then it started to pour. We pedaled as fast as we could but couldn't see any shelter. It was about Six o'clock and it was getting dark. Lightning hit all around us, there was the occasional tree but they provided little to no protection. Half of these trees had been struck by lightning. The other halves were all being hit by lightning. If there were no trees around we might get hit. We could barely hear ourselves when we talked. We were screaming at each other. Mainly because that’s the only way you could hear someone but we all wanted to go different ways. We went Mike's way and we pedaled on for about ten minutes. "Hey guys do you here something" mike screamed through the wind and rain. We didn’t and replied no. Mike kept hearing something and started to veer left. We followed; it wasn't the smartest thing to do because we wouldn't know were the trail was in this rain. Soon we heard it too. It sounded like a Pokemon.
Part Ten: The Man
We were walking at a fast pace today, perhaps because we knew the mysterious Mount Moon lie ahead. At about noon we saw the giant mountain. It was easier to go around the mountain than through it but there was supposed to be Pokemon in the cave that went through the Mountain. I saw a man about five feet away from the opening of the cave; he was holding a pokeball. I ran over and asked the man if he wanted to battle. He accepted my challenge. I sent out Bulbasur and the man sent out a Growlithe. Uh-oh I thought, Bulbasaur weak against fire. Bulbasur looked back at me and shivered. He knew he was weak against Growlithes too. Bulbasaur started off by using vine whip. The Growlithe didn't seem to be affected. It used tackle and Bulbasaur fell to the ground in pain. Bulbasaur got up and tackled. This time Growlithe was hurt. Hurt by the flames of Growlithe Bulbasur was also down. They both go up at the same time. Bulbasaur tackled while Growlithe was trying to use ember. They both hit with great impact, now they both lay on the floor. At first everyone thought it was a double knock out. I was about to call Bulbasaur back when he staggered to his feet.
Part Eleven: Golbat Attack!
I shot out of my sleeping bag like a rocket. "What he heck was that!!!"? I said. I looked around, no one was up. I was sure something had hit me across the face. It almost felt like leather. I lay back down and tried to go to sleep. I still wasn't asleep five minutes later when I heard a sound and then A.J. jumping out of bed screaming "What the Heck!!! I'm gonna get whoever did that. That hurt, my face is gonna be all red and ugly in the morning." This waking Mike up who was extremely ticked off at A.J. who woke him up. We all decided to go to sleep once again. We were all almost sleeping when we heard a loud screeching sound. We all sat up and look at the sky. Then suddenly bats hundreds of bats flew out of the cave. They were Zubats. We jumped up called out some of our pokemon and about 300 Zubats fell from the air. There was about 50 left and they flew of behind the mountain. We called our Pokemon back. We just sat there for about a minute. Mike started to say something but then froze. About 50 huge bats were coming at us. We scrambled for our Pokeballs and threw out as many as we could. They were Golbats! The remaining Zubats had evolved! It was about 15 of our Pokemon against 50 Golbats. The Golbats slowly fell from the air. Our Pokemon were slowly dwindling too! Jynx, Tauros, Persian, Arcanine, Squirt and Bulbasur were left. There were about Ten Golbat left. We still had Bulbasaur, Arcanine, and Squirt. Now there were five Golbat and only Arcanine was standing. All of the sudden Arcaine used Fire Spin and took out two Golbat. "Just damage the remaining Golbat a little, so we can catch the last three" A.J. yelled. We were hiding behind a rock while the action unfolded in front of us. Ember almost took down the Golbat and we caught them. We weren’t sure how good of a Pokemon that wanted to kill you were but we caught it anyway. We lay back down to sleep one more time.
Part Twelve: Mount Moon
We woke up somewhat late because of the disturbances the night before. We skipped breakfast and headed /into the cave. We walked and walked but saw no Pokemon. Were the legends about Mount Moon wrong? We kept walking and then we heard a Koffing! It was in the distance but we could certainly hear it. We picked up or pace and carried on. Soon we heard the voices of Koffing, Ekans, and Cleafairy. This made us anxious and so we ran. About five minutes later we ran into none other than Team Rocket. They were still unaware of our presence, it seemed as if they were hoarding Clefairys with there Pokemon! We had to save the legendary Clefairys, Mount Moon is the only known spot where Clefairys lived. If they were all taken away there would be no more Clefairs or Clefables! We had to do something. Suddenly we picked up and were speeding towards the
Clefairys. It seemed as if we were moving on a rock train! "An Onix" Mike yelled giving away our location. Team Rocket looked our way immediately. A.J. scrambled for a pokeball. He caught the Onix and we fell to the ground. A.J. sent Onix out and Team Rocket decided they didn't want to play. Koffing and Ekans tried to fight but my Scyther took care of them. There were two Clefables who Mike and me caught. A.J. settled with a Clefairy. We kept moving on after our interesting encounter with Team Rocket. We found nothing else. We exited the cave in early evening and we ate dinner at the Pokecenter. Then we simply went to bed, pretty early actually because we wanted to be rested up.
Chapter Thirteen: Articuno?
We set out of the cave in a hurried pace. We figured today would be mostly walking. We walked all morning until we found a small pokecenter. We ate there and traveled on. We were walking down a regular path when we saw something very suspicious. Mike looked up into the air. We asked him what was wrong. He said he thought he saw a Bluebird, but all of use knew very well that there were no Bluebirds in the area. We walked on about a mile when A.J. thought he saw a Cardinal. There were no Cardinals in this area either. We pushed it aside and kept on walking. Suddenly a yellow streak zoomed overhead. This time we all knew what it was! A Zapdos. The Carnal must have been a Moltres and the Bluebird an Articuno! None of this legendary birds lived anywhere close to our location. There had to be something we were missing. We started to walk towards the way the Zapdos had flown. About five minutes later we saw another Moltres. "Impossible I thought, there is only one of each legendary bird. We started to run towards the birds. Soon we saw another Zapdos and another ten minutes went by and an Articuno flew over. About three miles ahead we saw a large dome. We raced towards it. When we go close we heard voices. We were pretty sure who it was but not completely. We walked in on none other than our friends from Team Rocket. The were holding a large vacuum like structure p in the air. We looked up and saw Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. They were sucking them in! The first time Team Rocket heard us is when our pokeballs hit the ground. They whipped around and threw out their own. Out cam a Moltres and Articuno! "What was this?" I thought. They looked almost mechanical. Then I hit me, the Pokemon Team Rocket had just sent out were robots. The real mystical birds had come to save each other. A pretty well thought out plan by Team Rocket. The mechanical birds didn't just look mean, they were. The birds quickly overpowered our Pokemon. We were about to back down when the three legendary birds escaped from the vacuum. They quickly escorted us and took out the robot birds. We decided we would let the real birds go considering we really didn't want them to turn on us. It almost seemed as if the birds thanked us as they flew out of the tent. We walked outside and they we waiting, they gave us a show to remember. Aticuno shooting Ice in all directions, Zapdos doing the same except with lightning, while Moltres made designs of fire and smoke in the air. Then they flew off, all in different directions. Team Rocket was still in the tent; we thought they were knocked out. We left them there and continued on. We stopped walking at our regular time. We ate dinner over an open fire and camped out.
Part Fourteen: Bye
A.J. and I set off the next day, following the trail. We were mostly quit until we got to the town. It was a small town but it was known for Pokemon and a GREAT Gym leader. This gym leader wasn't just a good trainer but he was a nice guy. We stopped by the Poke center for a bite to eat and then set off for the gym. It was only a couple blocks from the Poke center. The gym was painted yellow with black stripes. "Obviously an electric gym" A.J. commented. As we walked in two men greeted us and brought s into a room with a couch and a T.V. Reruns of Pokemon World were the only things on. So A.J. and I just relaxed. Then we noticed a flyer on the wall. I got up and read it. Dear Pokemon Masters, as you may or may not know I have not yet received my third badge. Any one who has less or the same amount of badges as me, Bryan the Gym Leader, and you beat me for my badge you are welcome to join me on my quest. Thank You, Bryan. Sounds good I thought. We do need a new partner. I went over and told A.J. about the flyer. He also thought it was a good idea. About five minutes later Bryan invited us in to an arena. He greeted us and we talked for a couple minutes. I decided I would battle him first. Bryan sent out a Magneton. I sent out Jynx. It was a to Pokemon battle. "Ding, Ding," sounded the bell. "Psybeam now" I yelled. A rainbow colored beam shot from Jynx hitting the Magneton straight in the center.
