Part 17: What Lies Under Thy Ground
The next morning we woke up ate breakfast and called Nick. He at the PokeCenter we expected him at. He had probably already moved on. We set of walking into a nice area of the island. It was mostly filled with open Meadows with forests on all sides. We saw no Pokemon until noon when we saw a Pidgeotto flyover head. No one pulled out a Pokeball or summoned a Pokemon; we just looked up in the bright sky at the Pidgeotto who soared overhead. "Wow, that's a site", A.J., exclaimed. "Ya" Bryan and I said harmoniously. We started to walk again when we noticed something weird about the soil around us. We couldn't tell what was wrong with it but didn't really want to spend the time to figure it out. So we just walked along the side of these areas. About five minutes later I heard something under the ground. I ignored it a kept on walking. The others had not heard it. Diggggglet!!!!!!!!!! A chorus of Diglits screamed as they pooped out of the ground. Suddenly my feet were taken out from under me. Falling, I was falling. I don't know how far down but I was falling. I hit the ground with amazing ease. I guess it was because there was just a lot of soft sand where I had landed. Where was I though? Nothing was broken so I got op and looked around. I picked my backpack up from the floor and fumbled through it for my flashlight. I grabbed it and shined it around. The walls were filled with dirt. Just like you would expect them to be in a pit like this. As I was looking around I heard a rushing like the sound of water coming from the walls. I shined my light in the direction of the noise. Nothing. What a second, where were A.J. and Bryan. I franticly looked around. Surely they had seen me fall through the false soil. Surely they saw the Diglet throw me in. I went over to the wall to investigate. Nothing again. "Whooo!? Oh, it's a Diglet" I exclaimed. This particular Diglet was probably pretty young. It was actually kind of cute for a Diglet. "Ya, I know" I said not even having a clue what that meant. I guess you can come with me I said as I pulled out one of my Pokeballs. I threw the ball at the Diglet light enough that it would not hurt it and captured it. There was no struggle so the Diglet was willing to be captured as my Pokemon. Just then I heard muffled voices. One sounded like a woman. Who could it be I asked myself. I walked towards the direction of the voice and looked up. It was definitely coming from the surface. As I was looking up the ground broke loose. Dirt was already all over me but even more so know. "Here you go" a nurse from the nearest PokeCenter said. Thunk, the knot of the rope had hit me in the eye. I grabbed hold of the rope and climbed up and out. I thanked the nurse and then she left us. I later found out that A.J. and Bryan had gone for help at the next towns PokeCenter. I thanked them. It was later that night when we reached the town. Not the one Bryan and A.J. had visited but a different one. More in the direction that we wanted o be headed to get to the next Gym. We tried again to get a hold of Nick but to no avail. We would try again tomorrow. Now, I was ready to get a nice long sleep. So that's what I did.
