Part Ten: The Man

We were walking at a fast pace today, perhaps because we knew the mysterious Mount Moon lie ahead. At about noon we saw the giant mountain. It was easier to go around the mountain than through it but there was supposed to be Pokemon in the cave that went through the Mountain. I saw a man about five feet away from the opening of the cave; he was holding a pokeball. I ran over and asked the man if he wanted to battle. He accepted my challenge. I sent out Bulbasur and the man sent out a Growlithe. Uh-oh I thought, Bulbasaur weak against fire. Bulbasur looked back at me and shivered. He knew he was weak against Growlithes too. Bulbasaur started off by using vine whip. The Growlithe didn't seem to be affected. It used tackle and Bulbasaur fell to the ground in pain. Bulbasaur got up and tackled. This time Growlithe was hurt. Hurt by the flames of Growlithe Bulbasur was also down. They both go up at the same time. Bulbasaur tackled while Growlithe was trying to use ember. They both hit with great impact, now they both lay on the floor. At first everyone thought it was a double knock out. I was about to call Bulbasaur back when he staggered to his feet. he weakly roared. Bulbasur and me had won! Bulbasaur had beaten a fire Pokemon. The man showed us where there was a very small Pokecenter a little around the mountain. They healed our Pokemon and we had a bite to eat. We ate with the man who was very nice. He said that he had had his last battle. He was a long time Pokemon trainer who had never been able to cut it. We encouraged him but he wouldn't listen. He handed me a Pokeball and said, "You are a very young but very skilled Pokemon trainer. Take this Pokemon, I have trained him well, take good care of him because he is my prize Pokemon." I thanked the man and we talked for a while. I thanked him again, and our journey began again. It was getting late so we made camp next to the mouth of the cave. We looked for Pokemon in the first area of the cave and around the mountain but we found nothing. We ate dinner back at the Pokecenter and came back to go to sleep. As we were walking back from dinner I said, "Wait! I don't know what Pokemon that man gave me!" I threw out the Pokeball and out came an Arcanine! "An Arcanine" I exclaimed! "He guys, did you ever catch that guys name?" "No" Mike and A.J. said. "Well he sure was nice" I replied. We went back to camp and slept tight…for a while.
