Lets look at the trainers that should be in every deck:
-Bill- Always good to have the card advantage
-Professor Oak-Another card advantage card, always good for getting rid of bad hands.
-Energy Removal- Very good, can really screw up your opponent
-Super Energy Removal- Same as above but better -Gust of Wind- Another card good for disrupting your
opponent.
All right now we have the trainers, they should look something like this: 2xBill, 2xOak, 2xEnergy Removal, 2xSuper Energy Removal, and 2xGust of Wind
Now you add trainers that fit your deck such as Pokemon Breeders, Pokemon Traders, Plus Powers, defenders, etc.
This should come to 10-15 trainers. That’s a lot but trainers win the game (most of the time).
Next is Pokemon, you shouldn't have over 20 Pokemon in a deck. A lot of times I see people with a raindance deck and they only have one Blatoise. This is not a good plan. What are the chances of getting that one Blastoise? See what I mean? Anyway, I suggest putting 2-4 of your main cards in the deck. The rest of the Pokemon are up to you. I suggest basics, and/or stage one Pokemon.
Next come the energy cards, sometimes the hardest part of the deck. Most decks should have 20-30 energy, I suggest 25 and up. It gets harder if you have more than one color. Divide the energy up fairly. If you have a Skarazard (Charizard) and a Machop in your deck, the Machop is going to need a lot less energy than a Skarazard. When this is all done you should have a 60-card deck, if you made a deck while you were reading, send it in, it will be put in the decks section. Good Luck!!
