ADAM HOROVITZ- THE MAN!

Adam Keefe Horovitz was born on October 31, 1966 to Doris Keefe and Israel Horovitz in South Orange, New Jersey. He was raised in an upper middle class Jewish community in Manhattan and got into playing the guitar. When he was still in high school he joined his first band- The Young and the Useless. Later on, he became part of the Beastie Boys with the older two members: Mike Diamond and Adam Yauch. In the mid eighties the group became immensely popular and rose to acclaim after openning for Madonna during her Like a Virgin tour. After their huge success in the mid eighties, the Beasties came out with Paul's Botique in the early ninties. The album did not fair too well and was considered a commercial failure. Critics on the other hand, praised the boys with their inovative sound. Many people claim the reason the album did so poorly was because of the different sound it had, that was really years ahead of its time. In 1994 Adam and his fellow Beasties started the Tibetan Freedom Concert that raised money to help Tibet. It has been a big hit ever since. As for Adam, he got married to Ione Syke in 1991 (I believe) and everything seemed happy. But late last year the couple seperated, and a few months ago Ione filed for divorce. This is sad, I'll admit. But hey, I ain't complainin'! Anyway...It has been rumored that Ione is gay, or bisexual I guess, and is dating some chick from some band, I don't know. But who's to say if that's true or not. As for Adam, I heard he has been seeing a girl named Katherine something or other from the band Bikini Kill. I took a look at her, and she seems OK, but maybe a little too grungy. Adam and the boys' last endeavor was 'Hello Nasty', a very cool album with some awesome tracks. Its most famous songs are "Intergalatic" and "Body Movin'," but the three-some just completed a video for "Three MC's and One DJ." A lot of the tracks have a very spacy sound, but a couple have that hard rock feel of 'Ill Communication." But 'Hello Nasty' has something for everyone. Even my mom. She likes "Body Movin'" (sorta), "Song for Junior," and "Song for the Man." Of course, the last two are kinda quiet songs, so it makes since those would be her favorites. Now the boys have their first anthology out called "The Sounds of Science." It has 41 old songs and one new one titled "Alive" on it. The video for "Alive" is really cool, and made TRL for a couple of days. There are also some previously unreleased songs on the anthology too like "Jimmy James (the original version)" and the Biz Markie's version of "Benny and the Jets." This 2 CD set is HIGHLY recommended for any true Beastie Boys fan. And finally, Adam is also a very talented actor. He has been a about five or six movies to date with supposedly another one in the works with director Spike Jonze (who directed the video for "Sabatoge"). I HIGHLY recommend you all go rent the movie "Lost Angels" with cute little Adam in it. It's an older movie (1989) but still is so good. I nearly cried the first time I saw it. So in conclusion- all of you should go see these killer pictures of Ad-Rock, listen to a little Beastie Boys music, and try to see some of his flicks. You won't be disappointed.
