~Hello from all of us at Long Day 'Zine~

Hey all and welcome to our first issue of "Long Day"!!! We all hope you enjoy our magazine and we all put a lot of time and effort in to this. We aren't official and are in no way affiliated with Matchbox 20. We just love the band so much that we wanted to do this for them. We have our connections and we are letting the band know what we are doing and what it is about. We have questions sent to them, and if we're lucky, they'll answer them sometime soon. All of us would like to tell you a little bit about ourselves so below is a little autobiography of ourselves. Well enough babbling... time for the 'Zine! Enjoy and if you have any questions/comments please e-mail one of us! - Meera - MatchboxZ0@aol.com OR RubyTues23@aol.com
- Carrie - LngDayZine@aol.com OR Carrie6896@aol.com

I enjoy listening to music, my two favorite bands are Matchbox20 and Third Eye Blind. I also enjoy playing tennis, going to the mall, hanging with friends, going crazy over Stephan and Rob, and going on AOL. Well I hope you know a little bit about me, and I hope you enjoy the best MB20 Zine!

Hey! I'm Michelle, and I am 16 years old. I live in St. Louis, Missouri. Some other bands I love are Bush, 311, No Doubt, Dishwalla, and Garbage. Meet the Band
================================
~Everything you need to know about the awesome band Matchbox 20~

Meet the Band:

The Band Is:
Rob Thomas- Lead Vocals
Kyle Cook- Lead Guitar, Vocals
Adam Gaynor- Rythm Guitar, Vocals
Brian Yale- Bass
Paul Doucette- Drums

How It All Began:
The band members Rob, Paul and Brian got together in 1992, and Adam and Kyle got together with the Trio in 1994, through a mutual friend. Together the 5 formed the band Matchbox20. How'd they come up with the name? While Paul was a waiter in a diner, he saw a guy with a #20 on jersey walk into the diner. All he could read on the jersey was the word matchbox and the number 20. So they said Matchbox20. Rob hated the name but they stuck to it. The band came up with the name for their CD, when Rob and Paul were at a cafe, they were both drunk, and a girl was playing a song called "Yourself or Someone Like You." They had originally had named their album "Woodshed Diaries" but they thought the other name was so cool so they called up their record label and told them they wanted to change it and they had already had everything sent out. So it took the band 2 years until they released their album, and it is heading towards platinum! An interesting fact about the man on the cover of the album is, that the man used to sit outside of the studio everyday. The band members would go out and talk to him between takes. He had been a welder. He got paid a modeling fee, but in the beginning he wasn't supposed to be used for the cover, then they changed their minds. Quite fickle band members wouldn't you say?

Interpetations
================================
~Where you interpetate a song, vid, or lyric~

I have a interpetation on the song "Push" by Matchbox20. I think the song could be from a woman's point-of-view but with a guy singing. The lyrics are "I wanna push you around.....I wanna take you for granted.." and the rest. Many people have told me that the song was from a woman's point-of-view, but I'm not sure. Maybe...maybe not.
I am a female and I know how some female's can be....and it fit's them perfectly.
Rob said that he got the lyrics to the "Push" song from his own expierences also from other people's expierences on MTV this month....he referred to it with the album name. -Angel1725@aol.com

I have an interpretation of my own on the song "Kody," which is by far my favorite song. Kody sat down on the avenue "That pretty much describes itself"

He tapped his feet, to the humming of the highway "This signifies that he is lonely, feels left out, down on life, or something like that by the fact that the humming of the highway is all that he is listening to"

He watched the light shine down on the broken glass and thought I don't got no reasons, yet There it is and there it was "Kody is thinking that his life has amounted to nothing thus far, and he needs to have someone signifigant to help him through life"

It was clear to all of us "everyone else knew that he was lonely, but no one wanted to take the time to care"

We kept this hat of broken dreams and we pulled them out when we needed them around "people used him when they needed him, but not when he needed to be loved"

So please hand me the bottle, I think I'm lonely now "Kody knows that he is alone, so he turns to alcohol to help him feel better about himself"

And please give me direction, I think the hurt set in "This indicates that he knows that the alcohol is just making it worse, and he knows that he is unloved"

And I don't feel nothing "He keeps drinking untill the pain is gone, and he is numb to everything in life"

There's a squeak hinge down on the back gate it lets us know if he comes around "Kody has been coming home less and less, where it seems as if he is almost non-existant"

I don't sleep that good anyways, and if you've never heard that silence, it's a God aweful sound "everyone has gained a conscious, and feel sorry for what they've done to Kody, but he is never home anymore, and no one knows if he's alive or dead, and they blame themselves"

I don't feel nothing, no I don't feel nothing, there's nothing to feel good about "This indicates Kody's death, no one really knows how he dies, but everyone is saddened and hurt"

Don't get down much to the avenue, I could drive but it takes too much to get there "No one can bare to go to Kody's grave to apoligize and to seek forgiveness, even though it is too late for that. They can easily get there, but it is too hard for them to forget the past"

Don't get off on the broken glass, the cadillac scene "This implies that Kody's death had to do with a car wreck, the fact that it is a Cadillac makes one believe that he was hit by a Cadillac, but he could have been driving it while he was drunk"

Well, I've seen alot of good things die and I'm in an over emotional way "This is the finale, everyone knows that Kody was a great guy, an he can't forgive himself for not being a better friend to him while he was alive, and the fact that he's in an over emotional way makes me think that he is crying and mourning Kody's death, but at the same time, he is thinking of turning to alcohol himself to get Kody's death off of his mind"

That's pretty much it. Sorry it's so long, but hey, it's an awesome song, and that's just how I see it. I would LOVE to hear what you think about my interp. Good or bad, just E-Mail me. -SrDilhead@aol.com

*Rain's Gonna Wash Away I Believe This*
Stories
================================
~Short stories on or inspired by Matchbox 20~

A short story inspired by the Matchbox 20 song "3 AM" It's about a guy and a girl who have fallen out of love.

3 AM

Funny how quiet it is at night. All that can be heard is cars passing and my drunken next door neighbors argueing again. The rain pelts the helpless window relentlessly as I stare out into the black, black night. If I listen carefully I can hear her sleeping soundly in the bedroom. Such a steady and reassuring beat. God, I love her...

Have you ever been in a relationship that is having you? Like you can't control how it goes or how it will end up. Even though you try so hard. You hope that this is it, and hope this'll be the one. Cause I guess really that's all you can do. Than one day you find out that things have changed. So scared that the only person you love is going to slip through your hand...

I've got to stop thinking like this, I scold myself as I lay down on the couch. Nervously I rearrange the silver rings on my fingers. I know that its not going to last, and I know you can't make someone love you. Funny how you refer to a relationship as "it". Just a thing. You know, "it's" over and "it's" never going to work out...

"Baby?"

I turn my head as I hear a small voice coming from the doorway.

"We need to talk..."

"I'll be there in a minute", I whisper as I slowly close my eyes with a sigh. I swear that I could almost hear and feel my heart actually breaking. Rubbing my eyes with the back of my hand I struggle to stand up. On my way to the bedroom with the single though of "it's over" blaring through my head I couldn't help but glance at the window. Despite of the storm brewing inside, outside its stopped raining... -Carrie Dieringer
