I saw my love with tears in eyes
I held her close to me
I gently picked her hopes back up
and then I set them free.
I saw her filled with love and praise
at the road I let her down
and listened to her laughing voice
oh God the precious sound.
We had a bond that felt so right
I thought it was a dream
everything was beautiful
at least that's what it seemed.
Then I noticed subtle changes
of things she'd say or do
and then I told her of my love
but heard no I love you.
She told me that she didn't care
she had heard it all before
and then she said in hurtful tones
good-bye don't slam the door.
I searched for things I might have done
but no answers came to me
I stood and looked into the mirror
oh god how can this be?
I tried to make it right agian
I tried with all my might
and then the answer came to me
where had she been that night?
I later found her with a man
she smiled as I went by
I think she would have laughed so hard
if she had heard me cry.
I never knew just what I did
that caused this sad outcome
and perhaps I'll never know
until my life is done.
