Uprising Souls- Chapter 1

A chilly wind whipped across the empty streets of New York City, sending a slight shiver down Monica's back. She clutched at her jacket tighter, trying to shield her body from the unkind air. Her long brown hair flowed in every direction as she turned a corner and wa;led down the street that would take her home. All at once she heard a rustling noise come from a line of bushes next to her. She stood there is dead silence, examining her surroundings. Finally convinced that it was just her imagination, she continued to walk.

"Excuse me miss." Startled at the strange voice behind her, she quickly turned around. Her mouth dropped as her eyes beheld the sight in front of her.

"Can you tell me how to get to 57th Street from here?" After a moment, Monica's brain finally registered the question being asked of her.

"Are you ok?"

Monica- "Yeah, I mean I'm-. I'm sorry it's just that, I can't believe it's you. I've been a fan of yours for the last 2 years. I love your music."

"Well, thank you very much, I appreciate hearing it." Monica could only smile.

Monica- "Well, if your looking for 57th Street, go down this street, make the second right, and it will be the first street on the left."

"Thank you. By the way, I didn't catch your name." She smiled at him.

Monica- "I'm sorry, I'm Monica."

"Nice to meet you Monica, I'm Nick. But I guess you already knew that." He held his hand out for her's. She took it without hesitation and watched as he brought it up to his lips. Although, instead of kissing her hand like normal, his lips gently lingered across the delicut white skin on her wrist. Just as she was about to pull away, she felt his teeth penatrate her wrist and bite down. As she cried out in pain Nick put his arm around her and pulled her to him as he continued to drain her blood. The pain was no longer there, in it's place Monica felt a rush of ecstacy over take her body, almost like the thrilling sensation of making love. She clung to him until her boby went limp and she blacked out. Nick felt her go limp in his arms and dropped her lifeless body on the ground. He smiled as he wiped a drop of blood away from his mouth.

Nick- "Fans. What would I do without them?" He said as he walked away.

-------------------------

"You didn't kill her."

Nick- "Akasha, her body went limp in my arms. She's dead."

Akasha- "Look at the color in your face. If you had drained her completely, you wouldn't have a hint of paleness on your skin."

Nick- "Oh, who cares. The massive blood loss should be enough to finish her off. Besides, I was more anxious to get back here to see you." He said as he put his arms around her waist.

Nick- "Let me have you Akasha, right now." She smiled and tilted her head to the side.

Akaska- "You know what to do." After a moment of thought, Nick released her and backed away.

Akasha- "What is it?"

Nick- "Don't you understand? I don't want your blood, I want you."

Akasha- "It gives you the same feeling. What's the difference?"

Nick- "The difference is that I want to be able to undress you, and feel your skin under my palms, and run my fingers through that long black hair of yours." Akasha turned away in discuss.

Akasha- "Your human emotions make you weak! No wonder I can't trust you to take a human life completely. We are not meant to feel these things, we're predators. Kill your victims swiftly if you will, but do it. For do not doubt, you are a killer Nick!!" She screamed. Nick felt guilty for upsetting her, but he couldn't help the way he felt. Akasha's face softened as she slowly approached him.

Akasha- "Nick, look at me." He looked up into her deep black eyes as she stoked her hand across his cheek.

Akasha- "Nick, you were chosen by me to become the next king and stand by me at the uprising. As queen, it's my job to teach you everything that you need to know. And the first thing you need to realize is that you must block out all the mortal feelings you have now. This life was given to you. The dark gift was given to you to pluck out all the pain of a mortal life and give you a life without all kinds of problems. But you have to completely except it, in order for it to be so."

Nick- "I guess it's still all new to me." Akasha was silent for a second, then without warning she brought her long finger nails up and gashed her throat. Thick, dark, red blood slowly spilled down her white skin.

Akasha- "Drink." She commanded. The sight of her was too much for Nick to refuse. He brought her body against his and locked his mouth onto the open wound. She ran her fingers through his hair as he greedily sucked on her sweet nectur.

Akasha- "That's it my prince, let my power fill you." After a few more minutes she pulled away from him, aware that she could not allow him to drain her. Nick was half dazed as her hot blood coursed through his veins and filled him with new strength.

Akasha- "How do you feel?" He smiled wickedly and took her face in his hands.

Nick- "Like I want more." He said as he watched the gash on her throat close up and disappear.

Akasha- "Good, then you can finish what you started tonight. Go back and kill that girl."

Nick- "How will I find her if she's been moved?"

Akasha- "Clear your mind of all other thought, except her. Your mind will then take you to her." He nodded and brushed his lips across her's.

Nick- "I'll be back later." Akasha smiled as he walked out.

"Your doing quite well, even though I still sence a disturbance in him." Akasha turned around as Marius stepped out of the shadows.

Akasha- "I think things will go according to plan for the uprising. Don't you?"

Marius- "So far so good. But to overcome those feelings of mortality, he must continue to drink your blood. You have to keep him killing. There must be no humanity left in him on the day of the uprising. You know what will happen if there is."

Akasha- "I know, and I won't let that happen."

Marius- "There's no turning back now, my queen. He has drunk your blood, there for he is the key for your reign to strengthen."

Akasha- "I know. Don't worry, I'll fill him up with my powers of darkness soon enough. He'll be ready to take his place in our circle in no time at all." Akasha sat down on her throne and picked up one of the many flowers around her. She smelled it's fragrance and then placed it on the throne next to her.

Akasha- "You won't be empty much longer."
