Animals of the Florida Everglades

Hey everyone. This webpage is my final project for my freshman biology class. When it is complete, it will contain descriptions and information about the animals of the Florida everglades. Until then, this page is under heavy construction, so please bear with me, it's gonna be great.

The Florida Everglades is a 50 mile wide river that begins at Lake Okeechobee. It is a slow moving river filled with sawgrass, which is why it is alos known as the "River of Grass". When Lake Okeechobee overflows the water flows through the everglades and south to the ocean.

There are five different habitats in the florida everglades. The hammock habitat, the mangrove habitat, the pineland habitat, the sawgrass habitat, and the slough habitat.

There are four main divisions of animals in ther everglades, the reptiles, the birds, the mammals, and the other animals.

"The Everglades
is a test. If
we pass it, we
get to keep
the planet."
- Joe Podger,
Environmentalist
