Stepping into a deeper part of the Silent Forest, you come upon a strange
little place that seems to belong in a fantasy book. A rustic wooden table
sits off to one side, and a neat little bookshelf is opposite the glade.
A leather-bound notebook sits on the desk, and as you look around, a yellowish
blur catches your eye. Focusing on it, you are surprised to see another
Dekari standing off to one side.
*Taro iska, esthil. Welcome.* the stallion says lightly, purple eyes glittering.
You say hello, your voice seeming to echo in the silence of the glade.
Then a realization hits you.
"Who are you?" you ask, your voice rather forceful. The stallion laughs.
*I am Tyrra'Nafi.* he says. *Or, Earth Spirit. Most call me Ty.*
You look decisively blank for a moment.
"Why aren't you out in the meadow with the other Dekari?" you ask, a bit
confused.
Ty laughs again.
*I stay here.* he says, *I am the Guardian.*
"Of what?" you ask flatly.
*Of many things! Of the Dekari themselves, if you must know. I was the
first Dekari on this island. There's a legend that goes along with it all,
but not many know it now. Those that did have already gone through the
centrum. I am the only one left.*
You begin to look at the stallion in a new light. Smiling slightly, you
ask about the table and bookshelves, which you had momentarily forgotten.
*Ah! Those are so that I can keep track of who has left and who stays.
The leather book over there contains touch-portals to the homes of fostered
Dekari. And the bookshelf has various volumes and papers.*
He gets a wistful look in his eye and turns, wandering off into the forest
and disappearing. You can look over the bookshelf and the book,
or you could turn back.
