When I was a child in the 40's and 50's, the Dinsmore Fire Department was a volunteer fire department.

As a teenager, I was in the Junior Volunteer Fire Department.  We were allowed to ride the fire trucks to fires, train with the regular fire department and help keep the fire station, trucks and equipment clean.

We, the Junior Volunteer's held car washes and raised enough money to purchase a respirator.  Shortly after we bought it, it saved the life of Billy Moore, a volunteer firefighter.

The Chief of the fire department was Billy Higginbotham.  Hopefully, one day, Mr Higginbotham will write a history of the Department and furnish some pictures to go on this web page.

Under the leadership of Mr Higginbotham, the department was one of the best around and was well respected throughout the area.

Below is a recent photo of the Fire Department and also a recent picture of Chief Higginbotham.
