Cancer Research Challenge 100
100% of your tax-deductible gift right now will support research that saves lives. In honor of the American Cancer Society’s 100th birthday they are launching a one-week Research Challenge campaign. 100% of your donation today will go straight to cancer research. Will you help ensure that lifesaving science does not go unfunded?
This year the American Cancer Society will review grant applications from some of the best and brightest cancer researchers alive. Among them could be the breakthroughs millions of people are waiting for.
And while many promising studies will be funded this year, some deserving studies will not. Last year more than 100 research grants passed our rigorous review process but couldn't be funded, solely due to a lack of resources.
Together we can change this. In honor of our 100th birthday we're launching a one-week Research Challenge campaign. 100% of your donation today will go straight to cancer research. Will you help ensure that lifesaving science does not go unfunded?
Please don't wait. 100% of your tax-deductible donation today will go straight to cancer research.
The American Cancer Society has played a role in nearly every cancer research breakthrough in recent history:
· 1947: The first successful chemotherapy treatment for cancer was discovered when an American Cancer Society-funded researcher produced remission in leukemia patients.
· 1954: An American Cancer Society study confirmed the link between smoking and lung cancer – helping to launch the tobacco control movement that has contributed to a 50 percent drop in smoking since the 1960s and a drop in overall lung cancer death rates.
· 1973: The American Cancer Society invested in a mammography study that demonstrated it is the best tool for the early detection of breast cancer.
· 2003: American Cancer Society researchers confirmed the link between obesity and many types of cancer.
Breakthroughs like these save lives. Since the early 1990s, we've seen a 20 percent decline in cancer death rates in the US. That means we've helped save nearly 1.2 million lives since then – but our work is far from done.
Every dollar of your generous donation will fund research – and help make this cancer's last century.
