Chapter 12
That afternoon I awoke to Belle trying to wake me.
"Time to go,"
she said as I got up. I looked at my arm
that was turning black and blue, and
looked at Belle.
"Have you seen my dad yet?" I asked as she nodded.
"He
was quite nice actually," she said as I sighed.
"He always does
that," I said getting up and
grabbing some clothes.
"Jessie?"
My dad said firmly.
"Right here," I said sadly opening the door.
"Are
you ready to go?"
"Yes sir," I said. That was the first time
I used sir to him, I felt like somehow I had to.
"Did I do that to
your arm?" He asked as I looked
down to the ground.
"Yes sir."
"That
looks like it hurts," he said as I started crying.
"It does sir."
"I'm
not in the military Jessie," he said with a laugh.
"Look," he
said pushing my head up with his finger.
"I'm sorry about last night, but
I'm still sad to see
you go! You're my little
princess!" He said as
my tears flowed.
"You're not mad anymore?" I asked.
"Oh
I definitely am Jess, but you're leaving! I won't see
you until the wedding,
I'll miss my little girl in the
house," he said as I looked at him sadly.
I hugged him as I cried.
"I'm so sorry daddy," I said as his
eyes started to
water.
"Well girls, start carrying down the stuff
and I'll put it in
the trunk," he said walking down the stairs. My father
never cried in front of me if he even did cry,
I didn't know why, but it
was just something
he didn't do.
"You okay?" Belle asked.
"I'm
a little better," I said wiping my eyes.
"Well, let's start carrying
down the
boxes," she said picking up some stuff.
When I got to the
airport, I walked in with
Belle and sat down at the terminal.
"This
would have never happened if I didn't
love A.J. so much," I said sitting
indian style in my seat.
"Well look at it this way, at least they know
now
instead of having to hide it right?" She asked as I
nodded.
"I
guess so."
"There you are," A.J. said as I got up to see him.
He handed me a baby blue carnation, my favorite.
"How are you?"
I asked. We both kept
our distance for some reason.
"My mom won't
speak to me…what
happened to your arm?"
"When my dad dragged
me out," I explained looking
at Belle. A.J. took off his glasses as I saw
his
red-rimmed eyes.
"I'm going to go get a drink, I hear it
calling
my name," Belle said walking off.
"Was she there with you last night?"
"Uh
huh, she really helped," I said smelling my carnation.
"When do
you leave?"
"4, you?" I asked.
"5," he said
as we stood looking stupid.
I looked up at him to see his teary eyes.
"I'm
glad you came," I said as a tear fell down his face.
"I'm glad you
let me," he said as I
grinned. I ran over to him and held him
as we
both cried.
"I'm so sorry my dad said those things
to you,"
I said as I put my head on his chest.
"I'm sorry too about my mom, she's
stubborn,"
he said as I looked up at him. I wiped his eyes
and sighed.
"At
least we know now what would happen if we told
them," I said with a grin.
He brushed his hand
across my cheek and kissed me lightly.
"What
would you say if we got
married?" He asked as I almost fainted.
"W…what?"
I asked.
"Marry me, then they couldn't get
married, and we could
be together,"
he said kissing my hands.
"I…how?" I asked.
"Vegas,"
he said as I grinned.
"Remember when we joked about
that?" I
said as we both laughed.
"Will you?" He asked.
"Of course
I will A.J.," I said as he held
me in his arms with happiness.
"Thank
you so much!" He said kissing my cheek.
"Now I can have a beach
house," I said as with laughed.
"Here Jess, bought ya a coke,"
Belle said as
A.J. and I pulled apart.
"Hey Belle! Come with me and
A.J.
to Vegas," I said as she looked at me funny.
"Why would
you guys go there?" She asked as I smiled.
"Dum dum da dum,"
A.J. sung as Belle
dropped her coke on the floor.
"What? Are you
two crazy?"
She asked not even thinking of the coke.
"Just come
okay? Thanks!" I said
hugging her and kissing A.J.
"Let's go
get some tickets!" A.J. said as we
followed him down the airport to the
Las Vegas terminal.
"How may I help you sir?" The lady asked.
"How
much is 3 tickets to Las Vegas?" He asked.
"946 sir," she said
as my mouth dropped.
"Do you take debit cards?" A.J. asked as the
lady
nodded. He pulled out his debit from his
wallet and handed it to her.
"Here
you are sir, have a nice
flight," she said handing him 3 tickets and his
debit card.
"This is crazy!" Belle said as I wrapped
my
arm around her shoulder.
"Come on Belle, we're going to Vegas! Aren't
you
siked? And A.J. can get us anything
since he's 21!" I said as Belle
looked at A.J.
"You serious?" She asked.
"100%,"
I said as A.J. nodded.
"Vegas here we come!" She said as A.J. and
I laughed.
We boarded the plane and sat down,
I couldn't sit still I was
so excited!
"Do you have to pee?" Belle asked as I giggled.
"Nope!"
I said as A.J.'s cell phone rung. "Hello?"
"Hey Jess have you
seen A.J.?"
Nick asked as I giggled.
"Hey Nick! Guess what?
Great news!"
"You're held at gunpoint and are about to die?"
"A.J.
and I are getting married!" I laughed.
"WHAT? Guys A.J.'s getting
married!" Nick said to the guys. "Where?"
"Vegas silly!
Here's A.J.!" I said handing
my fiancée the phone.
"Hello? Yep
you heard her right bro! I know I am,
well the fans can wait! Hey do you guys
want to come
be my best men? You guys can't do anything without
me anyways!
We'll wait for you if you come!
Okay fine, yeah sure okay!
Here's my fiancée!"
A.J. said as I giggled.
"Hello?"
"Jessie are you sure
about this?
What happened when he came there?"
"I am serious
Carter, are you
coming for the occasion?" I asked.
"We have
nothing better to do!
Sure why not?" Nick asked as I clapped.
"They're
coming!" I said as Belle, A.J., and I laughed.
"Gotta go, we're
about to take off," I said happily.
"Okay, see ya in Vegas!"
Nick said as I hung up.
"This is going to be so much fun!" I said
holding
my best friend and my fiancée's hand.
"Vegas here we come!"
Belle said as
the plane flew into the sky.
