Chapter 10

"Jessie?" My dad yelled as I quickly
awoke. I looked around and saw no A.J.

"Yes daddy?" I asked.

"The guys are going to leave soon, Jane is going to take
them to the airport in an hour!" He said as I looked at
the clock. 11…I only got to sleep for 5 hours.

"Thanks daddy!" I said jumping up and getting dressed.
No matter what I did in the mirror I still had
the glow, a very, VERY bright glow.

"Hey Jessie!" Nick yelled as all the
guys looked at me.

"Carter! How are you?" I asked hugging him tight.

"Jessie, you're being nice to me…what's wrong
with you?" Nick asked as I looked over at A.J.

"Nothing! It's your last day, I have to
be nice sometime right?" I asked as he shrugged.

"Whatever…"

"Hey Brian," I said hugging him.

"Did you do something last night?" He whispered to me.

"How?" I whispered.

"I've had that look before!" He said as
I giggled. I hugged him one more time.

"How long do we have?" Brian asked.

"About 20 minutes," Kevin said as I walked over to A.J.

"Hello…have we met?" I asked with a wide smile.

"Hmm…a beautiful face like yours I would
remember if we did," he said as I nodded.

"I thought so," I said.

"I shouldn't be talking to you, if my girlfriend
catches me I'll be in so much
trouble," he said as I shrugged.

"She'll have to deal with it," I said kissing him as I
remembered the night before. A.J. life me up as we
kissed longer. I started remembering his cold
chain necklaces on my chest, his lips tasting
so wonderful, and his body engulfing mine for so long…

"You guys!" Belle said walking over to us.

"Hey Belle!" I said as her mouth dropped.

"Come here I have to talk to you, hey A.J.," she said
as A.J. nodded. She drug me over to my car. "I see
that stupid glow, you did it didn't you?" She asked
me as I nodded.

"How long? You and A.J. have the biggest
glow I've ever seen! You can't stop smiling!"
She said as I giggled.

"None of your business!" I said as her mouth
dropped farther.

"WOW! No wonder!" She said as I giggled.
I shrugged and smiled wider.

"I gotta go, he's only going to be here for a little while
longer!" I said running back over to him. "Yo Nick, Belle's
here!" I said as A.J. wrapped his arms around me
from behind, I started remembering
before it happened when he scared me…

"So?" He shrugged.

"Nick she has feelings you know!" I said angrily.

"I know! I just already saw her this
morning…" he mumbled as the guys started laughing.

"A.J. your mom's coming!" Howie said as he let
me go, we walked a distance apart as Denise
pulled up the driveway.

"Mom what are you doing here?" He asked
sounding annoyed.

"I had to see my baby boy one more
time!" She said in tears.

"Denise why don't you come with them to the
airport?" Jane asked as she nodded, Jane
took her inside as the guys laughed.

"My baby boy!" Nick said as the guys laughed harder.

"She sounds like you're dying A.J.!" Brian said as
they continued laughing.

"A.J., Jessie you guys got like 2
minutes!" Jane whispered from the door.

"Come over here," A.J. said walking with me to
the side of the house. My glow was slowly
dying as I realized he would be out of my life
for 6 months, I started to cry.

"Here," A.J. said handing me his cell phone.

"Why do you want me to have this?" I asked
as tears flowed down my face.

"So I can call you anywhere at anytime," he said as
I nodded. He held me as I cried. "I'll call
you everyday, okay?" He said as I sniffed.

"Kay," I said as he let me go.

"I love you so much," he said kissing me lightly.

"Alex where are you?" Denise called as I
sighed. I wiped my eyes as A.J. walked
up; I put his cell phone in my pocket.

"Jessie are you okay?" Denise asked as I nodded.
I waved to everyone and walked down the
driveway to my car. I got in my car and
looked at A.J. as he looked at me and mouthed
'I love you.'

"Jessie can I come with you?" Belle asked
running to me.

"Yeah, hop in," I said as she got in. Belle and
I looked as they got into the van.

"For some reason, I'm not happy for them,"
she said as I nodded.

"Believe me I haven't either," I said as I sped off.
At one of the stoplights on the way to eat,
A.J.'s cell phone rang.

"Hello?" I asked wiping my teary eyes.

"Hey baby, just making sure I remembered my
number," he said as I laughed. I burst into tears
at the sound of his voice.

"Good thing you did," I said wiping my eyes
and pulling over so I could talk to him.

"We're leaving in a minute, I just wanted to
hear your voice," he said as I put my head
on the car door.

"I can't do this," I said as tears flew like a faucet.

"I know, I…I have to go," he said as I sat up.

"Already?" I asked.

"We're boarding now, I'm going to get a
Belgian waffle like I promised," he said as I smiled.

"Okay. I love you," I said as my tears started up again.

"I love you too," he said as I hung up.
I sighed and looked at Belle who was crying to.

"Why are you crying?" I asked
as we both started laughing.

When we got to Taco Bell, we sat down
at the booth and just ate, not saying a word,
just thinking.

"What happened with Nick?" I
asked munching on a Gordita.

"He came up to my door, kissed me, said he'd call
me, and left," she shrugged. Like she
didn't really care at all that he did it.

"Hmm," I said sighing.

"I think both of us are going to hang
out a lot while they're gone," she said as I nodded.

"Until I leave," I said taking a sip of my ice tea.

"When is that?" She asked.

"Next week or the week after," I said looking at
my tea and getting teary eyed.

"What's wrong?"

"This is A.J.'s favorite drink," I said pointing
to it and putting my hands over my face.

"We are so weird," Belle said as I looked at her.
We both looked at each other before laughing.

"We are aren't we?" I asked wiping my eyes. "I mean
even though A.J.'s gone I still need to have fun,
these are my last days in Florida!" I said as she nodded.

"Yeah! Enjoy it girl!" She said as we
giggled and looked at the two guys who
entered the restaurant.

"I think I will enjoy the scenery that I usually
don't," I said as Belle and I burst into laughter.

That night, Belle came to sleep over. I think both of us
together was the only way we wouldn't
both cry until our eyes dried up.

"Jessie I'm home!" My dad yelled as I got up and ran
down the stairs.

"Daddy!" I yelled hugging him tight.

"Oh geez Princess! You're getting to
old for me to carry!" He said carrying me
over to the couch.

"Daddy, this is Belle, Nick's girlfriend," I said
as she smiled.

"Hi," she said as he smiled.

"Come sit with us," my dad said. He always
made people feel welcome, yet so
nervous at the same time!

"Daddy the guys left today," I said sadly.

"Really? How's Denise taking it?" He asked as
I held in my anger.

"She got so upset she decided to go with them to the
airport," I said as my dad laughed. I heard a phone
ring as I looked at Belle. We ran up the stairs
like a herd of wild cattle.

"I got it!" I said to Belle grabbing A.J.'s
cell phone and sitting on my bed.

"Hello?" I asked biting my lip.

"Hey baby!" A.J. said as I heard tons of
screaming in the background.

"Baby what's going on over there?" I asked.

"The girls, they love us! It's crazy!" He
said with a laugh.

"I…I can barely hear you!" I yelled.

"Hold on and I'll go to my room!" He yelled as
I covered the phone.

"The fans are screaming at them, they
just got there," I said informing Belle.

"Hello? Can you hear me now?" A.J. asked.

"Yeah…perfect," I said with a grin.

"How are you?" He asked.

"Okay…Belle and I were just
talking to my dad. Where are you?" I asked.

"We're in Thailand," he said as my mouth dropped.

"You're in Thailand?" I repeated as Belle's
mouth dropped as mine did.

"Yeah, weird huh?" He asked as I laughed.

"Way to go A.J., get girls from Thailand
in love with you!" I said with a giggle.

"Ha ha! You wait, I'll become a famous singer in the
U.S. and you'll regret what you just said!"
He said as I giggled.

"How's the guys?" I asked for Belle.

"Um…Brian's a little sick from the flight, Howie
and Kevin are asleep, and Nick is wired. I can't get
the boy to calm down! He keeps going outside
and making the fans scream, I'm about to
smack him," A.J. said as we both laughed.

"I miss you so much," I said sadly.

"Me too baby, me too. The guys and I watched
the video from last night, tell Belle thanks," he
said as I turned to Belle.

"A.J. says thanks for the message from yesterday," I said
as she smiled. "She said you're
welcome. How did your mom take it when you left?"

"God I thought she was going to buy a plane ticket
right then and come with me!
She was driving me nuts!" He said as I laughed.

"I would have probably done the same thing."

"I hope not!"

"Jessie?" My dad asked opening my door.

"Yeah dad?" I asked as he handed me an envelope.

"It's a Yale envelope see?" He asked pointing to it.

"Thanks dad," I said as he shut the door.

"Let me see!" Belle said as I let her open it.
It kept her occupied, which was cool for me.

"I feel like driving to your house or to go
to the beach or something," I said quietly.

"I do too, God I miss you," he said as I grinned.

"You really mean that?" I asked.

"As long as there are stars in the sky," he
said as I smiled wide.

"Jessie! Look at this!" Belle said handing it to me.

"Oh wow!" I said looking at the letter.

"What does it say?" A.J. asked.

"I got all the classes I wanted, and I got an
apartment, I'm leaving next Monday!" I said happily.

"You go girl!" Belle said as I laughed.

"A.J. are you there?" I asked as my smile quickly
turned to a frown. I knew he didn't want me
to go, but it was the best college, and the
best thing going for me.

"Yeah…yeah I'm here. Hey Nick! Jessie's
on the phone!" A.J. said as I heard Nick
running over to him.

"Hey Jess!" Nick said as I laughed.

"Hey Nick, having fun?" I asked as Belle
pulled close to the phone.

"These girls are so weird! They have these
signs that say some really gross stuff!" He said
as I rolled my eyes.

"Carter, you're so weird. I'm going to
put Belle on the phone," I said handing it to her.

"Hello? Hey, yep, Jessie's house, uh huh, I meant it,
yep! Me too, oh definitely, yeah okay,
bye," she said quickly handing me back the phone.

"Carter what?" I asked as Nick gave the phone
back to A.J.

"I gotta go, it's like 8 in the morning over
here or something," A.J. said as I sighed.

"Okay," I said sadly. "Are all
of our conversations going to end sadly?" I asked.

"Jessie…" he said sighing.

"Nevermind, you have to go right?" I asked.

"Yeah but…"

"No it's okay, you need to sleep,
can't keep the fans waiting," I said with a tear
in my eye.

"Hey Jessie! Came to raid the phone!" Brian
said as I wiped my eye.

"Hey B-Rok, how is it over there?" I asked.

"Do you know how much A.J. had been
crying? It's depressing!" Brian said as I
heard A.J. getting mad.

"He does what? Why?" I asked.

"You…DUH! He almost started crying again a
few seconds ago before I snatched the phone," Brian
said. "Oh gotta go! Angry Boner!"
Brian said freaking and handing A.J. the phone.

"He was lying," A.J. said as I sighed.

"Brian doesn't lie."

"I know, I just hate not being able to see
you, and when everything is so messed up
there you know?"

"That's why you've been crying?" I asked.
There was a pause.

"Yeah, yeah," he said reassuring himself.

"I wish I was there," I said closing my eyes
and remembering the night we shared.

"Me too, I love you so much."

"I love you too," I said as I saw my dad
in the doorway.

"Who is that?" My dad said as I heard A.J.
started freaking.

"Um…mom," I said as he looked at me.

"Whose cell phone is that?"

"Belle's! She let me use it!"

"Okay…I'm going to bed, goodnight
girls," he said shutting me door.

"I really gotta go," A.J. said. "I'll call you tomorrow,
or for me, I'll call you tonight okay? I love you."

"I love you more."

"I love you most," he said as I giggled.

"Bye," I said as I heard the phone click.

"You guys are like a married couple!" Belle
said as I laughed.

"Ya think?"

"My parents do what you guys just did! They say, 'I
love you,' and then the other will say, 'Oh I love you
more,' and they'll go back in forth, it's
sickening to look at!"

"You are like Nick! Geesh!" I said as we giggled.

"I'm going to miss you," she said as I grinned.

"I'll miss you more."

"Oh…I'll miss you most!" She said as we laughed.
I saved my butt that night with my
dad, if only I could the next Monday.
