Chapter 2
"God you girls take a long time getting over here!"
Brian whined.
"Shut up," I told him as I playfully punched his arm. "So
we were 15 minutes late. It happens."
"Yeah but not when you
live three houses down
dumbass!" Nick said to me.
"Shut up
Carter!"
"Make me Dawson." he said towering above me.
"Oh
quit it," AJ said as he threw the ball to Jess, who
promptly set herself
up for a 3 pointer.
"Sweet!" Bri said as he retrieved the ball.
"So are we starting?"
"Yeah," we all said in unison.
It was AJ and I versus
Nick and Brian. Jess was appointed score keeper
because
there was no way she could play in her
platform sandals.
After twenty
minutes of playing in the hot sun, AJ
decided to take a break. The boys all sat
down on the
curb while Jess and I went inside and made some
iced tea.
"OH
MY GOD!" I gasped, "Did you see his pecks?"
"Uh...I was
actually looking at Brain!" Jess laughed.
"PJ! God! I'm here, playing
with the guys I love and
you can't even be bothered to keep an eye out for
me
on whether he's been checking me out of
not?" I said to her with a smile
on my face.
"Oh I'm sorry, I know how much you like AJ!" a girly
voice that was NOT Jess' or mine called out from
beside the fridge.
We
turned and there was Nick with the biggest grin
I have ever seen on his face.
"NICK!" Jessie yelled.
"How much did you hear?"
I asked.
"Just that you're mad at Jess cause she didn't watch
AJ
for you!" he said between laughter.
"If you tell a soul, I'll kill
you Nick!" I yelled in his ear
as I choked him by the collar of his shirt.
"Owww! Okay, okay!" Nick said as he pulled me
off of his shirt.
"Promise?" Jessie asked him.
"Yes! God, you girls
must be deaf or something...or
maybe you're just to busy thinking about AJ to
hear
me!" Nick said as he bolted from the kitchen.
"Come back
here!" Jessie yelled as she chased him.
I quickly gathered up the glasses
of iced tea onto a
tray and went outside hoping Nick had been
able to keep
his big mouth shut for longer than
three seconds.
