The guys don’t have any shows this weekend, but of course they have one big long photo shoot. But those are always fun.
The guys, as of right now are taking a break from sound check so that they don’t have to do anything on Sunday before Monday night’s show.
You caught me just as I was about to tell Frick and Frack that their break is over.
Here is the dressing room. They are talking rather loud. I wonder.....
“You know what would really suck?” I heard Brian say.
“What?” Nick.
“Not being able to spend Father’s Day with Faith and Tommy.”
“Yeah no kidding. That would suck.” There was a pause. “But you don’t have to worry about that/ You always manage to talk her into going on tour with us.” I could almost hear him smiling.
“Always? This is only the third tour we’ve been on. That’s pretty good since we’ve been married a little over two years now.”
“You have a point.” Again it was quiet for a minute. “So what are you three planning tomorrow?”
“I have no clue. Faith wont tell me.”
“This could be interesting.”
“Yeah I know. But don’t forget that you and the other have something coming too.” It was true. I never left them out on Father’s Day. They all love Tommy like a son and they all helped me raise him. So I always did something for them.
“I know.” I couldn’t stand it anymore. I knocked on the door softly. “Come in.” Nick called. I walked in and glanced around the room. It was a mess, as usual.
“If this place was a little cleaner I’d think that a bunch of pigs lived in here.”
“It’s nice to see you too.” Nick answered sarcastically. I laughed at him.
“Come on you two. They need you to help finish sound check. And Nick?”
“Yeah?” He answered, pulling his knee up to his chest so he could tie his shoe.”
“Miriam is whin- I mean asking for you.” Brian stiffled and laugh and Nick rolled his eyes.
Miriam is Nick’s “girl of the month” as we like to call them. She is blond, blue eyed, tall, model thin, and annoying as all hell. She’s the type that only graduated highschool because she had a little more then a student/ teacher relationship with every male teacher in the school.
No one was sure how she and Nick ended up together. Not even Nick. And as I walked with him and Brian out to the stage, I tried to figure out why he was still going out with her. Especially when, all things considered, I think she annoyed him more then anyone one else.
When we reached the stage I was greeted with a sight that scared me more then any horror movie ever could. Somehow, someone had let the bimbo get ahold of my son. She was holding him and walking around, not having a clue about what she was doing.
It was at that point that she caught sight of Nick. “NICKY!!!!” She practially dropped Tommy and propelled herself toward the stage.
After recovering from my panic, I jumped off the stage and ran to make sure that herstupitiy hadn’t caused any harm to my child. Once I was sure Tommy was OK I walked back to the stage and opened my mouth to say something.
“It’s not worth it.” AJ said, coming up behind me.
“AJ, I really think this has gone on long enough. Nick’s not happy. I mean look at him.” I turned to face the stage. Sure enough, Miriam had latched on and Nick looked like someone had just sentenced him to Death Row.
“I guess you are right. Do what you want, but I’d watch it if I were you.”
“I know. And believe me, I will.” I walked up onto the stage using the side stairs and over to where Brian, Nick and Miriam were standing.
“Oh, hello Faith.” Miriam said, as if she wer talking to an insect. I saw Nick cringe at her behavoir.
“Miriam, first off, what the hell where you doing holding Tommy?”
He looked lonely so I thought I would keep him company.”
“My son is not like all of your English teachers in highschool, Bambi. He doesn’t need a blow-up doll like you to entertain himself.” She looked insulted, but I have a hard time believe that she actually knew what I was talking about. “ And further more, I don’t need to take my son to the hospital and find out her has brain damage because someone forgot thier head pump while packing!”
By this time Nick had detached himself from her and was standing behind me. I handed Tommy over to him and took a small step forward. She still didn’t get that I was calling her an airhead.
“Well at least I didn’t get pregnant with one guy and then go marry his best friend.!” She look proud of herself. She thought she was hot crap after that one. By that time AJ had come up on stage and was standing with Brian and Nick.
It took all my self control not to laugh in her face. Since she and Nick had started going out, she was completly convinced that Nick was Tommy’s father. “I’m sorry to rain on you parade, but Nick is not the father of my child! The father of my child is a lying cheating, bastered that will burn in hell for everything that he has done to me and the people around me. And you are a skanky bitch that doesn’t deserve to lick the ground that Nick’s dogs shit on!”
“You aren’t good enough to have Nick’s child.....”
Nick took a step forward this time. “ Miriam.... out! Now!”
She looked at him surprised. “What do you mean?”
“I mean that I never, I repeat never, want to see you again. You don’t make asumptions about who is and is not good enough for me, because you sure as hell aren’t For the last time, I am not Tommy’s father! If I was I would have taken reasponsablility for my actions. Not to mention the fact that I would never do anything like that in thefirst place, and certinlly with someone I had never met, considering that Faith was already pregnant when we met her! Now, get out of my sight before I have someone else remove you!”
“But Nicky, you don’t mean that. You can’t!”
“I assure you he means it. Now leave.” She scoffed at AJ before turning on her heel and stalking out of the room, almost tripping down the stairs in the process.
“Hey, Lonnie?” I called the the head of our security team.
“Yeah?”
“Make sure that she doesn’t ever get past security. Even if someone does clear her to go in.” Nick said before I could get anything out.
“Well now that’s done with...” Brian had been quiet the entire time, trying not to laugh.
“Hey guys! You’re done with sound check!” Destiny said, walking over to the group we had formed.
“But Faith told us that we still had half of it to go.” Nick said.
“Well, we could hear Faith all the way up there.” She pointed to the furthest spot from the stage. Hope waved from her seat, next to Kevin.
I guess I hadn’t noticed that the microphone was on the entire time.
“Oh cool! Let’s leave!”
“He’s not in a hurry. No, not at all....” I said, taking Tommy from Nick and watching Brian go back to the dressing to grab his bag.
Nick laughed slightly and smiled. “Faith, thanks for what you did. I don’t think I could have stood another day of having her attach herself to me.... yuck....” He shuttered a little and I couldn’t help but laugh.
“She was a bitch, plain and simple. She could have seriously hurt Tommy and you didn’t exactly look extatic about haveing her around. To put in nicly, you looked like someone had sentenced you to life in the Maximim Serucrity Unit in Mississippi. Either that or a deer caught in the headlights of an on coming car.”
“Gee, thanks.” We walked backstage and met the other, who were almost ready to go. Nick grabbed his bag and five minutes later we were being escorted to the twin vans that we had adopted. It was so much easier then taking the tour bus back and fourth to every little place we went. They also attracted a lot less attention then the bus did.
