“Ready?” Brian asked getting up out of his chair, along with the rest of the guys and BJ.
“I guess so.” Gwen murmured walking towards the door.
BJ walked with her and linked their arms. The ride to the audition was silent except for the radio playing softly. They parked the car and piled out.
“Come on Gwen, I’ll take you up.” Kevin said, as they walked into the building.
“You’re going to do just fine.” Brian whispered giving her a hug. They all gave her a hug for good luck before she stepped into the elevator with Kevin.
“You’ll do great.” Kevin whispered in the elevator.
“I’m so scared my hands are shaking.” Gwen whispered back holding out her trembling hands.
“Just take some deep breaths, after this we’re all going back to my house and we might go out later tonight, just think of that, we’re going to have a blast no matter what.” Kevin murmured taking her hands in his and squeezing them.
The elevator stopped and they stepped out hand in hand, he walked her to a conference room before slowly letting go of her hand.
“This is it. I’ll be right out here the whole time.” Kevin said, giving her a hug.
Gwen smiled weakly at him and opened the door.
“Well we already know the basics about you, so why don’t you play us something.” One of the record executives said motioning to her guitar.
“Oh, of course, I’m going to be playing “When she loved me.” By Sarah Mcglachlan.” Gwen said picking up her guitar.
Both executives looked at eachother and rolled their eyes as Gwen made she her guitar was properly tuned.

When Gwen finished the two men clapped and smiled.
“That was very nice Miss Owens.” One of the men said, shaking her hand.
“We’ll give you a call in about a week with our decision.” The other man said, leading her towards the door.
“Uh, ok.” Gwen stammered as they shut the door behind her.
Kevin got up from the chair he was in and walked over to her.
“How’d it go?” He asked anxiously.
Gwen looked back at the door.
“I think it went well.” Gwen murmured smiling a little.
Kevin smiled back. “That’s great!” He exclaimed as he picked her up and swung her around.
“Kevin! Put me down!” Gwen cried, laughing and kicking.
“Sorry, sorry, I guess I just got a little too excited.” Kevin said smiling at her again as he put her down.
“It’s ok, let’s go get the others and head back to your house.” Gwen said heading towards the elevator.
Kevin followed her and the elevator descended.
“How’d it go?” Nick asked as soon as the two stepped out of the elevator.
“Did they like you?” AJ asked.
“I bet you did great!” Brian said.
“Whoa! Slow down! I think that I did pretty good and I’m pretty sure that they liked me.” Gwen answered all of them.
“That’s great!” They all replied in unison and laughed.
“Well why don’t we all head back to my house, we can have a little BBQ to celebrate?” Kevin suggested.
Everyone nodded and headed out to the car.
After the guys and BJ went back to their houses to get bathing suits they headed over to Kevin’s.
“Kevin, I’ll be right down to help bring the food out after I put my bathing suit on!” Gwen called.
“Ok!” Kevin called back carrying some cups and plates outside. Gwen walked into your room and pulled out her bathing suit. It was a 2 piece with a top kind of like a tight tank top and it was a silvery greenish blue.
She put it on quickly along with some Jean shorts and headed back down stairs.
She grabbed some chips and pop and headed outside.
“Thanks.” Kevin said smiling as he set the things on the table. Gwen smiled back as the doorbell rang.
“I’ll get that.” Kevin said heading back into the house and towards the door.
“Pool Party!!” AJ and Nick screamed as soon as Kevin opened the door, running out into the back yard and into the pool. Brian, BJ and Howie just shook their heads as they came outside and headed out back. Kevin rolled his eyes and chuckled before following them.
“Nick put me down!” BJ cried as Nick picked her up and headed towards the pool.
“Not a chance!” Was his only reply before he threw her in the water. BJ came up sputtering and glared at Nick. Nick just laughed. “Who’s next?!” He called looking over at Gwen.
“Oh no, I don’t think so!” Gwen said getting out of her chair and backing away from Nick.
Nick smiled and ran towards her.
“Nooooo!!!” Gwen squealed half-laughing as she ran behind Kevin, putting her arms around his waist. “Don’t let him throw me in!” She cried with mock terror.
Kevin smiled and thought of how nice it was to be this close to her.
“Ok Nick, I think it’s your turn to go in the pool.” Kevin said, throwing Nick over his shoulder and throwing him into the pool.
“Hey!” Nick cried when he came up.
Kevin just laughed and went back over to the BBQ to start some burgers and hot dogs.
Gwen smiled and turned back towards the pool. Kevin grinned as he came up behind her and pushed her in.
“Kevin!” Gwen cried laughing.
“I just couldn’t help myself.” Kevin replied smiling.
Gwen grinned and splashed a little water in his direction before swimming over to where BJ was.
As soon as the food was ready everyone got out of the pool and headed over towards the table. But about as soon as they had gotten out of the pool they were all back in again. Except Kevin who was sitting in a chair just watching.
Gwen pulled her self out of the pool and walked over to the stereo and turned on a smash mouth CD. I can’t get enough of you baby started blaring through the back yard. v“Hey Kevin, why don’t you come on in and join all of us?” Gwen asked kneeling beside him, pushing some of her wet hair out her face.
“I think I’ll just stay here, I’m a little tired.” Kevin said looking up at her.
Gwen gazed at him, a look of concern on her face. She placed her hand against his cheek and then his forehead. “Kev, you’re really warm, maybe you should come inside and lie down.” Gwen murmured taking his hand.
“Yeah…” Kevin mumbled getting up and going into the house with her.
Gwen lead him the to the couch and helped him to lie down. She went into the kitchen to look for a thermometer and gave it to Kevin after she found it.
“I’ll be right back.” Gwen said, going back outside. “Hey Guys!” Gwen called turning off the stereo, “I think that we’d better cut this party short, Kevin isn’t feeling to good.” All of them nodded their heads and got out of the pool.
“Is he sick?” Brian asked pulling on his shirt and walking over to Gwen.
“I think it’s just the flu or something, he should be better in no time, I’ll take good care of him for you.” Gwen said putting her hand on Brian’s shoulder.
Brian smiled at her and followed the other towards the front door. They all said their goodbye to Kevin and Gwen before leaving.
Gwen sighed and walked back over to Kevin and took the thermometer out of his mouth.
“God, you do have a fever.” Gwen whispered looking at his 103.7 temp.
“I’m sorry we had to cut everything short.” Kevin sighed, taking her hand.
“It’s ok, don’t worry about it, I’ll go get you a pillow, some water and a cool washcloth for you.” Gwen said smiling as she headed up stairs. She grabbed his pillow out of his room and came back down and got him some ice water and a cool cloth. “Here you go.” She whispered sitting down on the couch next to him, she put the pillow in her lap and placed his head on top of it. “Do you want to watch a movie or something?” Gwen asked putting the cool cloth on his forehead.
“Could we watch purple rain again?” Kevin asked in a small voice. Gwen smiled and turned the movie on.
