Joey woke up with a start and looked around. Her book, Pandora by Ann Rice was sitting on her lap open. Joey closed the book and stretched.
"Sounds like Cam is up." She said smiling to herself.
"Joey!!!!," Cammie yelled from the bathroom,
"Come here for a second!"
"Ugh, coming!" Joey called back getting up. Cammie came rushing out of the bathroom with a towel rapped around her, her long blond hair was still damp and clung to her back as she walked to her room.
"Ok Joey what do you think, should I wear this," Cammie held up a pair of black jeans and red halter top, "Or this?" putting the jeans and halter top down she picked up a short black dress made out of velvety material.
"I like the dress." Joey said reaching out to touch it.
"Ok then I'll wear it! Now lets go find you something to wear! Cammie cried racing off to Joey's room still in a towel. Joey smiled. "This is going to be a long day." She said before running after her friend.
Joey finally decided to wear a pair of Khakis and a midnight body hugging tank top with a see through layer over it.
The concert started at 7:00, so the girls decided to leave at 6:00. They caught a cab at went over to the Civic Center. Joey groaned as she saw all the little girls wearing Backstreet Boy T-shirts with the name's off their favorite written on their faces. Cammie was positively giddy and she couldn't stand still she was jumping up and down and smiling.
"Cammie could you stand still for 5 seconds!?" Joey snapped while they were standing in line.
"I can't help it Joe! I'm just so excited to see my Kevy!!!" Cammie cried.
Joey just shook her head and walked forward as the doors were opened.
"Where are our seats?" She asked.
"We are front and center girl friend!" Cammie replied.
"Well, at least the seats don't suck." Joey said thoughtfully.
They made their way to their seats and sat down.
Joey felt a little out of place because all these girls were about 15 and under. Cammie didn't seem to notice this though, she was to busy trying to spot the boys backstage.
Around 7:05 the lights dimmed and the crowd started screaming. Joey covered her ears and hoped that it wouldn't last much longer. A deep voice came over the speakers.
"BACKSTREET BOYS!" It yelled out, as five figures shot up from the floor along with some pyrotechnics.
"Oh my god!!! There's Kevin!!!!!" Cammie screamed pointing to a tall dark haired one standing at the far right.
Joey rolled her eyes and nodded. The boys did a few up beat numbers then they did their solos. Cammie screamed all through Kevin's. Finally it was over and Joey let out a sigh of relief.
"Finally! Now lets go home!" Joey cried tugging on her friend's arm.
"We can't go home yet! We have backstage passes!!!" Cammie cried.
"Oh yeah." Joey replied unenthusiastically.
"Come on!" Cammie said taking her arm and dragging her over to the backstage door.
They flashed their passes in front of the security guards and went through the door. About 20 little girls were all milling around the room nervously waiting for the boys to come out.
"Cam how long are we going to be here?" Joey asked impatiently.
"Until they kick us out." Cammie answered simply.
"Ugh." Was Joey's only reply.
Finally the guys started coming into the room.
It took all of Cammie's self control not to go and jump on Kevin. Her and Joey stayed back until most of the girls had gone. Joey was rather bored and decided to sit on a couch over near the door. How ever someone did catch her eye.
He had bright red hair and a lot of tattoos. He seemed to be in very good shape. Joey thought he was gorgeous.
"Earth to Joey! Come in Joey!" Cammie called to her friend waving a hand in front of her face. Then Cammie noticed who she was staring at and smiled.
"That's AJ." She said to a love struck Joey.
"Huh?" Joey replied snapping out of her daze.
"The guy that you were staring at is AJ." Cammie repeated.
"I wasn't staring at anyone Cam." Joey said, tucking a piece of dark brownish reddish hair behind her ear.
"Sure, whatever you say Joe." Cammie said smiling.
"Come on. Lets go get you that Kevin guys autograph so we can go home." Joey said grabbing Cammie's hand and dragging her over to where Kevin and AJ were standing.
"Go on!" She said giving Cammie a little push forward.
"Joey, I can't! I'm too nervous." Cammie said meekly.
"You are such a wuss!" Joey replied smiling. She then proceeded to walk up to Kevin and tap on his shoulder.
"Can I help you?" He said smiling down at her.
"Yeah, come here for a second!" Joey said, pulling him over to where Cammie was. AJ followed an amused expression on his face. "Cammie this is that guy you have the hots for, Kevin this is Cammie, your number one fan! Have fun kids!" Joey said turning around and running right into someone.
"I'm sorry!" Joey cried looking up. She was immediately frozen when her eyes met AJ's.
"No problem, I wish I had beautiful women like you running into me all the time." AJ said smiling at her.
Joey felt weak when he smiled at her. ' Stop it Joey, you aren't some stupid teenybopper! Get a grip!' She thought to herself. Next to them Cammie was still blushing and looking at the ground trying to get the nerve to ask Kevin for his autograph.
"Is there something you wanted me to sign?" Kevin prompted, holding out his hand.
"Oh! Yeah! One sec!" Cammie rattled off digging into her purse, pulling out a CD.
"Well here ya go." Kevin said after signing her CD and handing it back to her.
"Well Cammie was it all you dreamed it would be?" Joey asked smiling, referring to Cammie meeting Kevin.
"Shut up Joey!" She muttered turning red. Kevin looked over at AJ. Aj was busy staring at the girl with the medium length brownish reddish hair. Kevin smiled, 'Looks like Casanova is to shy to make a move', he thought.
Joey looked at her watch. It was only 10:30, They didn't have any show's to do for the next couple days because it was a weeknight, but she did have an audition in a couple days that she really wanted to rehearse for.
"Cam do you think we could go now? I need to get home and practice." Joey asked.
"Joe you could do that stupid part standing on your head! You will get it for sure! West Side Story will never be the same after you're in it!" Cammie cried throwing her hands up in the air.
"You're auditioning for West Side Story?" AJ asked taking a step closer to Joey.
"Uh, yeah, I have an audition in 2 days." Joey replied blushing at his closeness.
"But we are both in a play right now! On Broadway!" Cammie interrupted her.
"Really? What play?" AJ said, now very interested.
"RENT. Ever heard of it?" Joey asked looking up at him.
"Yeah! I heard that it was really good, but I haven't gotten a chance to see it yet." AJ replied smiling at her.
"I've seen it." Kevin said suddenly, "Who do you guys play?"
"Well I play Maureen!" Cammie said excitedly.
"And I play Mimi." Joey said never taking her eyes off AJ.
"Cool. I'm sure you're both very talented." Kevin said and Cammie beamed.
Joey couldn't take her eyes off AJ's. He had beautiful eyes; she just got lost in them. AJ was looking right back into her eyes, they were green, very interesting, he loved them.
Kevin noticed the two staring at eachother again. He knew that AJ wanted to make a move but for some reason he seemed too shy. Kevin had never seen a girl have that effect on him before.
"So, are you girls doing anything tonight?" Kevin asked, knowing that AJ wanted to know.
"Not that I can think of," Cam replied smiling. She looked at Joey who was still looking into AJ's eyes, Cammie leaned towards Kevin and whispered, "I think that Joey would like to spend some more time with your friend though."
"Well I think that AJ would really like that also!" Kevin whispered back and smiled. Cammie smiled back and glanced at Joey again, she had never seen a guy have this kind of effect on her before.
"Well do you guys want to do something or what!?" Cammie asked AJ and Joey. They snapped out of their trance and Joey blushed.
"Wh-what?" She stammered.
"I asked if you guys wanted to do something, like go to a club or a movie." Cammie repeated.
"Definitely!" AJ said excitedly.
"Yeah that sounds like fun!" Joey added.
"Ok then, I'll be right back, I'm going to tell the others that we're leaving." Kevin said and jogged out of the room.
A few moments later Kevin came back and they all went out to hail a cab.
"So, Joey how old are you?" AJ asked, hoping to find out more about her.
"I'm 19, you?" Joey asked.
"I'm 21." AJ replied.
They reached the Movie Theater and paid the cab driver.
"What movie should we see?" Kevin asked.
"Something romantic!" Cammie exclaimed.
"Something scary!" AJ added.
"I don't care what we see." Joey said.
"Well how about we go see the Mummy, that's scary and it's supposed to have a little romance in it." Kevin suggested.
They all agreed and got their tickets. The theater wasn't very crowded considering it was 11:00 on a Tuesday night.
Kevin sat down, Cammie sat next to him, Joey sat next to her and AJ sat next to Joey. Joey glanced over at AJ and was surprised to find him looking at her as well, quickly she looked away, feeling her face become flushed.
"How long are you guys going to be here for?" Cammie asked Kevin while they waited for the movie to begin.
"We have a week off, so we'll be here until next Tuesday." Kevin replied.
The theater lights dimmed and the previews started. Joey tensed up, she wished they'd gone to see another movie, she got frightened rather easily.
AJ sensed that Joey was uncomfortable and placed his hand over hers. She looked at him surprised. He smiled at her and squeezed her hand gently, she smiled back. Joey had her eyes closed about half the movie, everytime something scary would happen she would squeeze AJ's hand really hard and shut her eyes tightly. AJ moved as close as he could to her in his seat.
Kevin and Cammie were so engulfed in the movie they didn't notice much else. Finally the movie ended and the lights came back on. AJ gently pulled Joey to her feet and she smiled at him.
"Did you like the movie?" He asked her.
"I'm not really into scary movies, I'm a real wimp when it comes to them." Joey said looking at the ground.
AJ tilted her head up so she was looking him in the eyes. He gently ran his hand down the side of her face; she closed her eyes and placed her hand over his. He smiled.
"Ready to go guys?" Kevin asked coming up to them with Cammie at his heals.
"I guess so." AJ sighed letting his hand fall back to his side. Joey opened her eyes, with almost a look of disappointment in them. AJ smiled down at her and took her hand in his.
"Do you guys want to come back to our place for a little bit? Maybe have a cup of coffee or something?" Cammie asked eagerly.
"Well I'm really quite tired so I'm going to head back to the hotel, but AJ can go if he wants." Kevin said.
Cammie frowned then turned to AJ. "Would you like to come over for a little bit?" She asked.
"Sound good to me!" He answered. Joey smiled and thanked Kevin for the movie. Kevin hailed himself a cab and then Cammie, AJ and Joey did the same.
