"The Room"

"Just page in my history, Just another love that used to be" ~C. Dion ("Mislead")

From across the room
I see you smile
I see you laugh
The once closing distance
Turned to miles
I yell but don't hear me
This room is crowded, isn't it?
But if I whisper
I feel you near me
The room emptied out, didn't it?
If I could stop the world
Just for a second
To collect regroup, and prepare
If I could stop the world
Just for a moment
To breathe, relax, and reflect
In this now empty room
Just you and me
Everything finds meaning
Or so it seems
Its the things we don't say
The looks we exchange
That reminds me of the beginning

I had to mess things up
Like I usually do
In my generic fashion
I clung to your words
And felt your embrace
Releasing an unknown passion
Feelings I never felt before
Or memories that I tried to repress
Why didi I let myself be swept
Away just to be hurt again?
I take steps to close the gap
Which is now between us
I know I should stay where I am
To maintain a comfortable distance
Foolishly, I let my heart
Overrule my mind
I just ahead blindly
Without consideration of time
Sometime your words are razors
That cause me so much pain
But if I make my heart stronger
The more I have to gain
I see a wall between us
One thing I couldn't beat
You didn't trust me
Did you?
But now its way too late
Now we are back to square one
At times I feel like strangers
Meeting for the first time
But with preconceived angers

I was told you weren't serious
But that I chose to ignore
The way you looked
Talked and even held me
That I couldn't ignore
For the first time in
The longest, I found someone's
Company that I enjoy
Someone to challenge my thinking
Make me laugh, and
Jusy hang around with
I got so caught up
I quickly spent my time
I destroyed an awesome thing
With someone dear in my life
I often hear things
That I really shouldn't
I attempted tuning them out
Naturally, I couldn't do it
Slowly, as the night fades
And in pours the rays of sun
The room begins to fill
With people, one by one
Again, I retreat those few steps
Which took all night to make
Maybe another night, some progress we will make
You aren't mine to have anymore
And that's what hurts the most
When I say that I mean at all
Which leaves me here again... alone.
