Micah Martin

This 20 year old means business.  When Micah Martin steps into the Roller Jam arena, he is ready for anything the other players can throw at him.  Even if that means dodging Mark D'Amato, or The Ack-Attack!  Though this comes easy to Micah, with his backfround of speed skating he knows the manuevers to score that winning point for his Hot Dice team.

Here are some stats about Micah from the Roller Jam Official Homepage:

Nevada Hot Dice #33

6'0" 150 lbs.

Birthday: July 22, 1979

Micah has the experience and competitive nature that makes him a skater to watch out for!

At the age of 13, Micah received his first pair of in-line skates and learned to use them by skating around the block. He was racing within a year, and by the age of 15, he was a professional, beginning a career that would lead him to a third place national ranking in 1998.

So where did Micah get his drive?

"Growing up, we were competitive," said Micah during a recent interview. "There were six kids in my family, and we had to be competitive at the dinner table to get what we wanted."

But don't think dinner was the only time the Martin siblings went at it hard. "We were all home-schooled, so we'd go out and play in the woods after school, and we'd shoot each other with BB guns and have fireworks wars with bottle rockets and stuff." When this after-school entertainment led to broken bones for friends, the friends' parents wouldn't let them visit anymore. After that, Micah, along with his three brothers and two sisters, had to go to their friends' houses to play.

Micah may have survived his childhood with all of his bones intact, but he found out what it was like for his friends when he suffered a broken neck during RollerJam training. "We were working on our wheelbarrow move, where I fall back in my teammate's arms and he slides me into a double block, and I fell down. He fell down, and he fell on top of me with my head tucked in, and I broke two vertebrae in my neck."

A broken neck could never slow Micah down, however. "I didn't know it was broken until about five days later. It happened on a Thursday night, and on Sunday I had a 100K in-line race I did up in New York City. And then on Wednesday after I got back I went in and got the x-rays done and found out that it had been broken."

After three months of recuperation, Micah is back! He's ready to face the challenges of RollerJam, and one of those challenges presents itself in the unlikely guise of Sam "The Flame" Martin, Micah's brother and a Jammer for the Florida Sundogs. When asked about skating against Sam, Micah had this to say:

"He's one of the best skaters out there, and I think I'm one of the only guys that can contend with him. It's just going to make us go even harder.

"When 'The Breeze' comes, 'The Flame' is extinguished."

During the fireworks, be sure to watch for Micah's signature move, the Inverted Hockey Slide. And what's that he does when he scores? Why, the Hot Dice are coming up "Snake Eyes!"
