“Okay, I won’t.”
A.J. walked over to Kayla and gave her a hug, “KK, you know I still love you very much, and that I will want to be a part of that baby’s life, but I don’t think that I’d make a very good father. I’ll be here for you, okay?”
“Okay,” she said, half laughing and half crying, “I’m here too you know?”
“Always.”
“Hey everyone, I kind of need to go to the bathroom, and I can’t if you’re all hugging me, so… unless you want to get pissed on, move,” Kayla said laughing.
The crowd around her quickly moved out of the way. When she came back, A.J. had left and had given Kevin something to give to her. He said that he wasn’t allowed to give her the present until everyone was gone.
They had a small party since it was the first time everyone was able to get together without their managers or pagers to bother them. Everyone finally left around 9:30 and Kevin was just going to stay the night.
They sat down in front of the fireplace and talked about the baby and what would happen. Kevin was slightly hesitant to talk about it because of all the things he’d been thinking since he found out about the baby, but somehow, they both managed to get through it.
“Kayla, A.J. asked me to give you something before he left,” he said, pulling something out of his pocket.
“What?”
“He told me that I couldn’t even let you see it, you’ve got to close your eyes.”
“Why are you being so secretive Kevin?”
“A.J. said to be secretive, so I am.”
“Kevin-“
“Close your eyes please Kayla.”
“Kevin, this is silly.”
“Just do it, for me.”
“Fine,” she said, closing her eyes.
He took her left hand in his own, kissing it softly, “Kayla, I love you so much more than just my best friend. You’ve changed from the shy awkward girl I first met six years ago, to a beautiful, intelligent, sexy woman, who I’d like to spend the rest of my life with. Will you,” he asked, while slipping a diamond engagement ring on her finger, “do me the honor of becoming my wife?”
She let her eyes open so she could look into his beautiful green eyes, “I thought you’d never ask me. I love you Kevin, and I’d love to be your wife.”
Kevin pulled her into his arms and kissed her passionately, “You’ve just made me the happiest man in the world.”
“You know, that is the most tired cliché in the world when it comes to proposing.”
He smiled, “Yeah, I know, but it’s true. I love you Kayla Faith Swanson.”
“And I love you Kevin Scott Richardson.”
He picked her up and took her to the bedroom, making her his own that night and for rest of their lives.
