Media Specialist's Corner
In the Media Specialists Corner, you will find links and information regarding current issues for Curriculum Integration (Sunshine State Standards!) and conference links (FAME, FETC)
Field Trips on a Shoestring What is a shoestring field trip? Well, as we are all well aware, the Media Budget does not cover everything, and this is an inexpensive way to get classes involved. All activities are integrated into the curriculum, and many are modified to cover different abilities as needed. Most use a few websites, plus some books, a video or two, and your imagination.
This area is still under construction, but the history of the library, its role in society, and the people who have made an impact will (hopefully)be highlighted here. Also covered: important legislation, technologies that have affected us and other factors. Summer Reading List for YA: some suggestions

Women's Studies and Title IX Gender issues and a balanced perspective on women's studies are highly interesting to me. Too many of us don't know enough about the rich hersitage left us by our mothers and grandmothers. This is not an all encompassing site,. However, the focus of this page is on gender, as well as the history of Title IX, its impact on girls participation in sports, and how Title IX is affecting the women and girls of today.

John Dewey
Ben Franklin
Dr. Goodlad

Important people in education.  Dr Goodlad is most noted for his book "The NonGraded Elementary School".  This was a study done in Florida, near Orlando.
Professional Development For the busy Media Specialist or Librarian, these links are meant to help you find conferences, classes, and links to places and people you might want.
The online resources are links we have found useful, such as the Whitehouse, our Florida state representatives, and the New York Public Library. The professional development page has links to colleges and Universities offering classes via distance learning.
