Chapter 11

I couldn't believe the nerve of this woman...I was going to put her in her place once and for all. After dance practice I borrowed Brian's Jeep and drove over to the Tampa Time's office. Adrenaline pumping, I hopped out of the car and marched into her office. Without so much as a knock I barged into Debra V. Coy's office.

"You!" I pointed a finger at her face, even though she was on the telephone. She remained calm however, almost as if she was expecting something like this to happen. "Will you hold please?' she asked.

I didn't remove my cold gaze from her well made-up face.

"You have quite the nerve!" I screeched.

"Oh really?" she took a sip of her coffee and gently set her mug down. The calm way she was acting was only making me want to strangle her all the more.

When Nick had approached me that evening, he was distraught, and he had obviously been crying. He told that he had made a little girl cry.

"Why?" I had asked.

"Because she was disappointed in me, she had read all those tabloids." He had said, putting his face into his hands. "Selen...she said that she would never want to have a brother like me! To me that was a blow to the head..."

A wave of sympathy had rushed over me as I explained to him that the girl wasn't disappointed in him she was disappointed in the lies. Lies that a mean, hateful woman had made up in an effort to achieve her own personal gain. That to me was the lowest thing someone could do. And I told her all of this.

"You're, you're a-a parasite!" I screamed. "You're feeding off of young, fresh talent so you can buy imported furniture and ugly office decorations." I said, looking around the room in disgust.

Debra blinked, and calmly dialed the extension for security. "Yes, there is a young woman in here that I would like to be removed at once. Thank you." She hung up the phone, sipping her coffee again. It wasn't my fault. Really. And it hurt me just as much. In one swift motion I swung my fist and it came in contact in her face just below the eye. The response was a blood-curdling cry as she and the chair fell backward. Her high-heeled feet protruded heavenward. It would have been quite amusing if security hadn't walked into the room at that second.

Nick tapped the dashboard to Brian's Jeep nervously. What the Hell was going on in there? Gingerly he touched his eye. This morning it was purple, now it had yellow and blue tones on it as well. He moaned slightly and continued to study the eye when he heard a scream. The doors to the newspaper office burst open and I came flying out, my auburn hair trailing behind me. I jumped into the car and gunned the engine, peeling out of the parking lot.

Nick looked at me in amusement "went that well huh?"

I laughed nervously "uh, yeah...to say the least."
