Show Me the Meaning--Chapter 8

*TWO WEEKS AFTER LEAVING THE HOSPITAL*

"Lysha, Lysha?"

"Yeah, you mean you didn't know?"

"How could I? I haven't seen her since I was fifteen!" Brian hollered at his cousin.

"Wrong."

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'WRONG'???"

"Calm down, geez. You dated her in the tenth grade, you played baseball with her in junior year, you've seen her a lot, Bri..."

"Why didn't I remember her?" Brian slapped his forehead.

"I don't know, Bri..."

*MEANWHILE, AT THE HOSPITAL*

Lysha was losing more and more control of her body. She slept almost constantly to relieve the pain in her chest. Her heart condition was causing her to lose her memory, and the doctors could do nothing about it because the infection was in the center of her heart and they couldn't operate on it. One wrong move, and she would be gone.

*TWO DAYS LATER*

Brian came back to the hospital to visit Lysha. He also came on very important business.

She looked asleep when he got there, so he sat down on the chair next to her and talked for a bit.

"Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for everything you've done for me, ya know, with the surgery and everything. And I wanted to tell you, that I don't care what people say. I still love you. And I always will. No matter what." With that, he left.

She had heard every word he had said.
