Nick came downstairs and immediately noticed how drenched Amy, Aaron, and Angel were. “What happened to you guys???”
Amy looked at Nick as if he was stupid. “We decided to do a rain dance and what do you know, it worked,” she snapped.
Nick gave her an annoyed look. “Always a pleasure, Amy..” Nick replied sarcastically, “BJ’s been friends with you for 11 years now and I still don’t see why.”
Amy sighed. “I’m sorry. I’m just not in the mood for stupid questions,” she replied, “Remember... I came here this morning picking up Aaron and Angel to take them to Bush Gardens..”
“Oh yeah...” Nick remembered, “Well what happened?”
Amy rolled her eyes. “What do you think happened?? Have you ever been to Bush Gardens?? The outdoor park...” she replied frustrated, “It started to pour and we had to leave! They closed the park.”
“Well excuse me for asking,” Nick retorted, “But why’d they close the park? It could clear up...”
“You haven’t heard?” Amy asked, “There’s a hurricane watch.”
“Man, we’ve been having those for the last two weeks,” Nick complained, “When’s the thing actually going to hit?”
“Well don’t jinx it.. I’d rather have a watch instead of an actual hurricane,” Amy pointed out.
“Is there really going to be a hurricane?” Aaron asked excitedly, “Sounds like fun!”
Amy chuckled. “Oh yeah, they’re a blast,” she replied, “Hey, why don’t you guys upstairs and take a bath and change.”
“Okay!” Angel and Aaron agreed as they started running upstairs.
“Hey, guys!” Nick called after them, “Keep it down up there. Becky’s sleeping and she needs to rest.”
“Okay,” the twins said as they continued upstairs.
“Becky, your cousin?” Amy asked.
“I don’t know any other Beckys... Sorry, I just can’t stand stupid questions,” Nick replied mocking Amy.
“I’m surprised. You’re so good at them,” she retorted, “So what’s she doing here?”
“I’m surprised you don’t know. You’ve been practically living here for the last 11 years,” Nick said, “Her husband’s on a business trip and he wanted us to take care her since she’s due in two weeks.”
“Oh yeah... I think BJ mentioned something about that,” Amy replied.
“So why’d you take the twins to Bush Gardens?” Nick inquired, “Finally decided it was time to repay us for the 11 years of torture you’ve put us through?”
“Weren’t you listening to a word we said this morning??” Amy asked.
Nick shook his head. “I try to tune you out.”
Amy sighed. “Basically, your mom had promised to take the twins to Bush Gardens and something came up. She asked BJ, but BJ had some modeling thing, so I offered and everyone was happy.”
“What was that?” he asked, “Sorry, after 11 years, you start talking and tuning you out is just automatic...”
Amy rolled her eyes annoyed. “Whatever.... I’m going to go to BJ’s room take a shower and change.”
“Then go home,” Nick added, “If you can remember where it is...”
“You know Nick, I’ve known you for a 11 years,” Amy stated, “And I never liked you.”
“Then go home!” Nick yelled in her face. Amy stuck her tongue at him and spit in his face. These two treated each other the same as they did 11 years ago. “That’s disgusting!”
Amy smiled. “I figured it could only improve that grotesque thing that’s coming out of your neck,” she retorted, “You know... Your face.” Then, she began heading up stairs.
“Go home!” Nick called after her, “It’s been 11 years! You’ve worn out your welcome!”
About an hour and half later Amy came walking downstairs. She was wearing a white shirt and gray sweat pants (she hung out at the Carters so much she had clothes there). Amy had big brown eyes. Her long, straight brown hair was dripping wet. She stood 5’6 and 120 lbs. Her best feature was her bright smile, which could easily brighten up a room.
Amy had met BJ in the 2nd grade when they were seven and the two became fast friends. They practically lived at each others houses. When Nick and Amy first met they were both into cooties and little kid things like that Even though they grew out of that stage they never stopped treating each other like the other had cooties.
“Oh man!” Nick exclaimed as Amy came walking down, “Look at you. You’re making yourself comfortable and everything!”
Amy rolled her eyes. “Relax Nick. I’m leaving now,” she assured him, “As much as I adore the twins, I dislike you more.”
“Oh come on! Stay!” Angel pleaded, “Don’t leave me here alone with these boys!”
Nick playfully hit Angel on the shoulder. “Angel, don’t encourage her.”
Amy gave Nick a sarcastic smile. “It’s always a pleasure..” she replied as the phone rang.
Amy was about to get when Nick quickly reached for it. “Don’t get it! You don’t live here!” he exclaimed, “Oh hi mom...”
Amy’s eyes bulged out in frustration. Nick knew how to push all her buttons. “Well I’m off. Bye Angel and Aaron.”
“Bye,” they said, “Thank you.”
“I had fun,” Angel told her.
Amy smiled. “So did I, until it started to pour.”
“That was the best part!” Aaron exclaimed.
Amy was about to turn to knob to leave when Nick pointed to her, “Stay!” he exclaimed.
Amy quickly turned around. “What???” she asked as she walked over to him, “Am I hearing things?”
“The hurricane watch turned into a hurricane warning,” Nick explained, “Mom and Dad are stuck. BJ and Leslie are also going to stay where they are. You can’t leave me here alone with two little kids and a pregnant woman during a hurricane...”
“Oh so now you want me to stay!” Amy said, “After 11 years of telling me to go home you’re asking me to stay. After bugging me to leave you’re begging me to stay...”
“Shut up!” Nick yelled in her face, “It doesn’t matter anyway because you can’t leave.. All the roads are closed.”
“What!?” Amy exclaimed, “You’ve got to be kidding me! I’m stuck here with you!”
“Oh yeah..” Nick replied sarcastically, “This is going to be a blast...”
