The Convergence of the Twain

In a solitude of the sea
Deep from human vanity,
And the Pride of Life that planned her, stilly couches she.

Steel chambers, late the pyres.
Of her salamandrine fires, .
Cold currents third, and turn to rhythmic tidal lyres. .

Over the mirrors meant.
To glass the opulent.
The seaworms crawls-groesque, slimed, dumb, indifferent.

Jewels in joy designed.
To ravish the sensuous mind.
Lie lightless, all their sparkles bleared and black and blind. .

Dim moon-eyed fishes near.
Gaze at thye gilded gear.
And query: "What does this vaingloriousness down here?".... .

Well: while was fashioning .
This creature of cleaving wing, .
That Immanent Will that stirs and urges everything.
Prepared a sinister mate.
For her-so gaily great-.
A Shape of Ice, for the time far and dissociate. .

And as the smart ship grew, .
In stature, grace, and hue, .
In shadowy silent distance grew the Iceberg too. .

Alien they seemed to be: .
No mortal eye could see.
The intimate welding of their later history. .

Or sign that they weere bent.
On paths coincident .
Of being anon twin halves of one august event. .

Till the Spinner of the Years.
Said "Now!" And each one hears, .
And consummation comes, and jars two hemispheres. .

This was written by Thomas Hardy, he lost a good friend William T. Stead on the Titanic.

  The Deep And Timeless Sea

  The deep and timeless sea
So powerful and strong
Though may appeared conquered
It shall never be calmed
We thought we had the ocean beat
We sailed our ships so strong
Never even suspecting
Our confidence woundn't last long
So along came "mighty" Titanic
With lifeboats for so few
We could have saved more
If we only knew
We thought all was conqured when
The sea took our ship
Now lies only ocean
Where Titanic had been
The deep and timeless sea
So powerful and strong
We sailed on our confedence
But that did not last long
The ocean took 1523
To their watery graves
It was done to show us
nothing was certain that we made
There are no certanties anymore
Every soul has it's doubts
Long gone is the carefree time
We thought nothing had us out
The deep and timeless sea
Told a lesson that had to be told
That no creature under God (young or old)
Can control the ocean,
The deep and timeless sea.
