Three years have gone by since the completion of our home on the Indian River Lagoon and we have settled in quite well. There still remain some landscape projects that need to be completed, but things for the most part are coming along quite well. We have outgrown the ‘73 Mako fishing boat and replaced it with something a little more suitable for long range comfortable dive trips and cruising excursions. The "Dugong" now docked at our home is a 34 foot Mainship diesel Trawler.

She is a lot slower than anything we have ever owned, but by far the most stable and comfortable. She carries with her all the creature comforts of home and saves us on hotel/motel expenses while traveling to the keys and the bahamas. Besides being comfortable and dependable, diesels go forever, she is the most economical and fuel efficient vessel we could have chosen. Jean and I continue to work very hard, so that we can enjoy our dive trips to the ocean for lobster on the weekends. She has the uncanny ability to spot those critters wherever they seem to hide. Once she points them out to Charlie they seldom have a chance to escape the "Cooking Pot". Trips to the Keys on extended 3 day weekends and short vacations during the year round out our diving pastime nicely. Steve our 20 year old is now solidly entrenched in the military life while completing a 6 year obligation to the Army National Guard. He is attending Indian River Community College and has enroled in the Police Academy and is taking courses in Criminal Justice. Let the crooks beware! Traveling still has taken a back seat as it is very hard to find enough time. We did squeeze in a dive trip aboard the "Dugong" to Jupiter and Palm Beach, which turned out to be quite an adventure. for what it is worth the last two vacations were the Dive/Hiking trip to the beautiful Hawaiian Islands. For the best Dive vacation visit the photo site of our Bahama Cruise aboard the 65' sailboat "Pirates Lady" for 7 days of nonstop diving. The ocean hasn't really calmed or cleared for decent diving this year. We hope to fill in the loss of dive time with a trip this winter across the state, through the Okeechobee water way to the Gulf of Mexico and visit Captiva Island and Sanibell Island near Ft. Myers.
