Chapter 1

Brenda Barrett was supposed to be waiting on the customers at Kelly's, but she could not take her eyes off the guy sitting at table 4. She knew who he was, Sonny Corinthos, a lowlife criminal who had nearly ruined

Brenda: Dangerous! *She reminded herself outloud*

Ruby looked up from wiping a counter

Ruby: What is dangerous Brenda?

Brenda tried to make an excuse for what she had said.

Brenda: The coffee pot can be dangerous if you are not careful. I have to keep reminding myself. You know how forgetful I am

Ruby: Right, I sure do.

She leaves to go in the back, but not before she glares at Sonny. he flashes her a dimpled smile. Brenda looks over at him and sighs. he gives her a smile that could melt an iceberg. She takes a deep breath, and grabs the coffee pot and heads over to his table. Sonny had been watching her for the last 1/2 hour. Even when he was supposed to be meeting with Luke Spencer he was really watching Brenda. He loved to watch her move and he loved the way she smiled. She had smiled at him earlier, and now she was coming his way. She pours him some more coffee.

Sonny: Thank you Brenda

Brenda: Your welcome Mr. Corinthos

Sonny: Wait a minute, what's with this Mr. Corinthos stuff, call me Sonny. And about me being welcome, I'm not sure Ruby would agree with you there.

Brenda: Your not very popular with people who care about Karen. Is there anything else I can get you Sonny?

Sonny: Well, you can tell me what time you get off work, and have dinner with me.

Brenda: I don't think that is a very good idea.

Sonny: Why not?

Brenda: I just got through telling you that you are not that popular

with Karen's friends, not to mention everything that people say about you.

Sonny: Do you let other people tell you what to think?

They are exchanging very intense looks.

Brenda: No not usually, but I do believe what I see with my own eyes.

Karen is a friend of mine

Sonny: She is a friend of mine too. But, I don't see what that has to do with you and me and what is going on between us right now.

Just then Karen and Jagger come in. Ruby comes over and gives Karen a hug.

Ruby: You both look very happy

Karen: We have wonderful news!

Jagger: We are getting married this Saturday!

Brenda is shocked. She looks at Sonny, he looks like someone who has

just been kicked in the gut. He gets up, throws some money on the table

and runs out the door. Brenda looks after him. She can either follow him

or stay and pretend she is happy. She looks back at Jagger, Karen and

Ruby and then runs out the door after Sonny.

She sees him pacing back and forth on the dock like a caged animal. He

hears her approach and starts to run off.

Brenda: Sonny, Wait! *She runs down the steps*

Sonny: Wait for what Brenda? So you can tell me how I'm feeling?

She is face to face with him. They are less than an inch apart. She sees

a sadness in his eyes a vulnerability.

Brenda: No, that's not what I want to do

Sonny: What do you want Brenda? What do you want to do?

Brenda: This! *She reaches up and takes his face in her hands and kisses

him long and hard on the mouth.*

Chapter 2

They hold on to each other and kiss for what seems like an eternity.

Then Brenda pulls away.

Brenda: I'm sorry. That should not have happened. We are both upset and

that didn't help.

Sonny: I disagree *He moves to kiss her again.*

She hold him off.

Brenda: No, look, I was as surprised as you were that they are getting

married.

Sonny: I was not so much surprised as I was disappointed. I thought that

Karen and I had something special. I guess I was wrong.

Brenda: No, you weren't wrong. It's just that some people have a

connection that is beyond special. It is something that everyone dreams

of having but that few people get to experience.

Sonny: The ability to communicate with out speaking. A connection that

bypasses the heart and goes straight to the soul.

Brenda: Yeah, something like that. *He was scaring her a little.*

Sonny: And Karen and Jagger have that connection?

Brenda: I guess. It is about the closest to perfection that I have ever

seen or probably ever will see.

Sonny: Why? You deserve something that special. Promise me that you

won't settle for anything less than that feeling. I know that I never

could settle for anything less.

Brenda: Look, Sonny....

He cuts her off.

Sonny: Like that kiss that we just shared, that was no ordinary kiss.

Brenda: Okay, I promise that I will never settle for anything less than

magic. Are you happy?

Sonny: As close to it as I get.

Brenda: Now promise me that you are not going to do anything stupid if I

go back to Kelly's. *She is looking at the water*

Sonny: That depends on your definition of stupid

Brenda: Sonny promise me, okay?

Sonny: Look, when I die it will not be from throwing myself off a dock over some school- girl. She starts to leave.

Sonny: Wait a minute! What is your hurry?

Brenda: Ruby will kill me if I am not back by the time that the lunch rush hits. Besides, it is 10 degrees out here and I forgot my coat, I'm freezing!

Sonny: Okay, let me walk you back to Kelly's.

Brenda: Not a good idea. Karen and Jagger are still there, and we wouldn't want to cause a scene.

Sonny: Are you sure we wouldn't?

Brenda: I don't want to cause problems for Ruby.

Sonny: Okay, if you won't let me walk you back, at least take my jacket so you won't freeze on the way back.

Brenda: That isn't necessary, besides, then you'll freeze!

Sonny: My car is just over there. I insist. You can return it tonight when I pick you up for dinner. He has slipped his overcoat off and drapes it around he shoulders. He embraces her from the back for a few seconds, making her whole body tingle. She finds that she is no longer cold.

Brenda: Sonny, you can pick me up at 7:00.

He smiles as he walks to his car. She pulls the coat tightly around her.

It smells like his cologne. She smiles as she thinks about the kiss that they shared. He was right, it was not an ordinary kiss. She had never been kissed like that, not even by Jagger. She pulls the coat tighter around her and walks back to Kelly's with a euphoric smile on her face.

She walks in the door wearing his jacket. Everyone in the room gives her a shocked look. She hangs up the jacket, with the smile still on her face.

Chapter 3

Brenda ran down the stairs of the Quartermaine mansion. She is dressed in a short, red, velvet halter dress. Her hair is lose and curled and she is wearing a string of pearls around her neck. She is in such a hurry to get down the stairs that she nearly knocks over Jason.

JASON: What's the hurry Brenda? By the way you look nice.

Brenda: Thanks Jason, but I don't have time to talk I have a date and I just saw the limo pull up in the driveway.

JASON: Must be someone really special for you to get all dolled up.

Anyone I know?

Brenda: Not a chance!

JASON: Well. I know that it's not Jagger.

Brenda: Jason, do me a favor and don't ever mention that name to me again.

JASON: Sure, but if it makes you feel any better, remember that I lost Karen.

Brenda: Oh, my sweet delusional Jason, how can you loose something that you never had?

JASON: *Sighs* I guess it's true what they say about the good guy always finishing last.

Brenda reaches up and runs her hand through his long blond hair.

Brenda: Maybe if you got a hair cut. Something more like Billy Idol or a

Chia Pet maybe would help!

JASON: Very funny Brenda. Are you planing on taking your comedy act on

the road any time soon?

The door bell rings, Brenda opens the door and is a little surprised to see Sonny's driver.

Driver: If you are ready to go miss Barrett I will escort you to the car.

Brenda: I'm ready.

The driver hands her a bouquet of 2 dozen lavender roses.

Driver: These are for you from Mr. Corinthos.

Jason raises his eyebrows in concern. Brenda hands him the flowers.

Brenda: Be a dear and put these in water for me Jason.

Before he can say anything she heads out the door. The driver opens the back door to the car for Brenda. Sonny is waiting for her in the back seat. He is dressed in a blue Italian suit and looks gorgeous.

Brenda: Wow! You look nice.

Sonny: Thank you. You look breathtakingly beautiful

She blushes a little.

Brenda: I was surprised to see your driver at my door. I thought maybe you had sent him to cancel our date.

Sonny: I would never send my driver to cancel a date for me. I sent the driver to your door because I did not want to cause a problem with the

Quartermaine's.

Brenda: Thank you for the flowers, they are lovely.

Sonny: I'm glad they were to your liking.

Brenda: They were. I gave them to Jason to put in water.

Sonny: Jason?

Brenda: The junior member of the Quartermaine family and by far the nicest, next to Lila.

Sonny: I'll have to remember that.

Brenda: Right, so where are we going?

Sonny: I figured that a classy girl like you would like to go to the grill.

Brenda: You figured right!

He gives her and intense look.

Sonny: Have I told you how beautiful you look tonight?

Brenda: Yes you have.

He moves a little closer to her and moves into kiss her.

Chapter 4

She pulls away from him, almost like a scared animal.

Sonny: Are you nervous Brenda?

Brenda: More like a little scared.

He lowers his voice almost to a whisper

Sonny: What are you scared of?

Brenda: This is the first time we have really been alone. I don't know that much about you except what other people have said.

Sonny: I thought you didn't listen to what other people say.

Brenda: I need to know if some of the things I have been hearing are true.

Sonny: Okay, what do you want to know?

Brenda: I know that you run a strip club. I saw that with my own eyes.

Sonny: No, I don't run one, I ran one. It got closed down. But, it wasn't the only one in town, they are not illegal.

Brenda: But you hired underage girls. That is illegal.

Sonny: A judgment error on my part. After all Brenda, I'm only human.

Brenda: Okay, one more question. Do you deal drugs? he looks hurt.

Sonny: Absolutely not! I used to give the dancers pills to help them relax.

Brenda: Like Karen?

Sonny: Yes, that was how it started with her. I Thought it was okay, but then she developed a problem and I realized that it wasn't okay.

Brenda: So Karen opened your eyes to the dangers of drugs?

Sonny: Partly, but something else happened. About a week ago a friend of

Stone's overdosed on heroine. I had given her a job as a dancer, but

then I realized that she was using hard drugs and so I kicked her out on the street, I had no place in my club for junkies. So, now she is dead.

Brenda could see that he was deeply affected by the girls death.

Brenda: I'm sorry.

Sonny: So am I. Anyway, if I had a club now, there would be none of that in it. No pills, no nothing!

Brenda: I believe you.

She reaches up to touch his face. Just then the car stops outside of the grill.

Chapter 5

Sonny takes Brenda's arm and leads her into the grill.

Sonny: I hope you are hungry.

Brenda really wasn't. What she really wanted to do was to grab Sonny and kiss him passionately. She could not believe that they had missed 2 chances on the way over. Sonny was thinking the same thing, all afternoon he kept thinking about the kiss they had shared earlier. A.J. was working at the grill and when they walked in he stared at them disapprovingly. He walks over to Sonny and Brenda.

A.J: Brenda may I have a word with you? * He grabs her by the elbow before she can answer*

Brenda: What is it A.J?

A.J.: Brenda are you on drugs or something?

Brenda: That is so mean, besides, what are you talking about?

A.J.: Why else would you be going out with a drug dealer.

Brenda: That proves how little you know. Sonny doesn't deal drugs!

A.J: Whatever! *He walks off*

Brenda walks back over to Sonny, who has found them a table.

Brenda: Sorry about that. AJ's comments were completely out of line.

Sonny: Especially coming from an alcoholic.

Brenda: What makes you think that he is an alcoholic?

Sonny: It is pretty obvious. See him over there at the bar?

Brenda: Yeah, so, he does work here doesn't he?

Sonny: Yes, but he is staring at the booze like it is something he really wants. He is looking at it like he would give his life to have it and yet by having it he would be giving up his whole life.

Brenda: That kind of desire is very powerful.

Sonny: Yeah it can be all consuming.

They are staring at each other intensely. The sexual tension between them is so thick that you couldn't cut it with a double- edged knife.

They have not taken their eyes off of each other, not even to look at their menus. The waiter approaches their table.

Waiter: Are you ready to order?

Sonny: Could you give us a few more minutes?

The waiter leaves. Brenda is studying her menu. Sonny is studying Brenda. He wants her badly. But he does not want to scare her by moving too fast and he couldn't exactly jump right there in the restaurant. She looks up and notices that he is staring at her.

Brenda: Have you decided what you want?

Sonny: *He smiles and thinks to himself* Yeah, I've decided and it's you!

Brenda: Sonny did you hear me?

He does not know how longer he can control himself. Maybe if they were moving he would feel less restless.

Sonny: Lets dance

Brenda: All right. I guess we can order later

The Nearness of You starts to play as they stand up and start to dance.

Brenda notices that A.J. is staring daggers at Sonny. She thinks to herself, "This is kind of fun." Brenda loves all the attention she is getting. Sonny holds her closer to him and the rest of the world seems to disappear. All that exists are there two bodies melding together.

They can feel the heat radiating off of the others body and they can feel each others heart beating.

Before the song ends Sonny pulls away.

Chapter 6

Sonny: I'll be right back.

He goes out to the lobby and pulls out his cellular phone and dials Stone.

Sonny: Stone? It's Sonny. I'm at the Grill. Get over here fast. I have a

311!

He hangs up the phone and goes back to the table and orders an extravagant meal. Brenda is bewildered, to say the least. They did not talk about much while they waited for there food. Sonny was distracted and it was driving Brenda nuts because she thought he was distracted by something other than her. Sonny was hopping that Stone arrived soon. He was not sure how much longer he could control himself around Brenda. He wanted nothing more than to grab her and kiss her and do so much more.

Finally Stone walks in the door after being harassed by the head-waiter.

He approaches the table.

Brenda: Hi Stone!

Stone: Hi Brenda. Sorry to interrupt, but can I talk to you Sonny?

Sonny fakes an irritated look.

Sonny: Sure, excuse us.

They go out to the lobby of the hotel.

Stone: Sonny, this had better be good man. I was on a date with Robin and I was about to make my move when you called.

Sonny: I told you it was a 311 over the phone.

Stone: No, a 311 is when you need to be bailed out of a bad situation. this is not a bad situation, this is a beautiful situation and you dragged me away from another potentially beautiful situation. Now, what gives?

Sonny: Can we talk about this at home? Wait here while I go make up an excuse to Brenda.

Stone: I can't believe that you are leaving her here alone.

Sonny: Wait here!

Sonny goes back to the table.

Brenda: Is everything okay?

Sonny: Not really. I am afraid I have to leave. Stone is experiencing a teen age crises.

Brenda: But Sonny we haven't even eaten yet.

Sonny: I know, and if he survives his crises, I'll kill him for ruining your evening. If you are really upset I will tell him to get lost.

Brenda: No, you can't do that. He is your friend. If it were Robin, I would probably do the same thing.

Sonny: I'm sorry about this. I insist that you stay and finish dinner and then have my driver take you home.

Brenda: All right. Thank you for a lovely evening, what little there was of it, and thank you again for the flowers.

Sonny: Good night Brenda.

As they leave, Brenda pulls out her phone and calls Robin.

Brenda: Hi, Robin?

Robin: Oh, hi Brenda.

Brenda: Are you busy?

Robin: I'm never to busy for you.

Brenda: Good, can you meet me in my room in about an hour and bring ice cream?

Robin: Sure, I'm all ready 1/2 way through my first pint.

Brenda: Not you too! What's wrong sweetie?

Robin: We can talk about it when I get there.

Brenda: Okay, see you in about an hour.

She hangs up the phone and digs into her dinner, which the waiter has just brought.

Chapter 7

Brenda and Robin arrive at the Quartermaine mansion at the same time.

They pass Jason in the front hall on their way up to Brenda's room.

JASON: Brenda? You're home early.

Brenda: Why are you always hanging out in the hall Jason, don't you have a room? (Actually I never remember seeing Jason's room on the show)

JASON: Very funny Brenda! I happen to be working on something and I am waiting for an important FAX.

Robin: Hi Jason. How's school?

JASON: Hi Robin, school is okay, I guess. Pre-Med is Pre-Med.

Robin: If you say so.

JASON: How was your date with Sonny, Brenda?

Brenda: Don't ask!

JASON: I see the ice cream.

Brenda: Robin and I will be in my room, with the phone off the hook. I don't want to see anyone unless they are bringing butterscotch sauce.

But, I especially don't want to see Sonny Corinthos!

JASON: I'll pass the word along.

They two girls go up to Brenda's room. Robin sees the flowers.

Robin: Did you say Sonny Corinthos?

Brenda: We were on a date tonight, but I want to hear about what's bothering you.

Robin: No way, you go first. Your date sounds much more interesting.

Brenda: He picked me up in a limo, and gave me flowers. We talked a while.

Robin: Talked about what?

Brenda: I had some questions about him. He answered all of them and he told me about this girl who died of a heroin over dose.

Robin: Crystal? Stone told me about her.

Brenda: Sonny seemed upset about her death. Like it was his fault or something.

Robin: It probably was his fault!

Brenda: Robin that is not fair!

Robin: Sorry. What else happened?

Brenda: We went to the grill and AJ. Started hassling us, then Stone showed up and Sonny left.

Robin: Stone and I were having pizza, and I think he was about to kiss me, and then the phone rings. Then Stone said that he had to go "Bail

Sonny out." I thought he meant jail.

Brenda: Well, I guess we know what Sonny thinks of a date with me.

Robin: Don't say that Brenda! There has to be a good reason for what they did.

Brenda: Did I tell you that I kissed him?

Robin: No, when did this happen?

Brenda: Earlier today, right after Karen and Jagger announced their engagement at Kelly's.

Robin: Sonny was there?

Brenda: Yeah, he ran out of Kelly's and I followed him to the docks.

Robin: Brenda!

Brenda: He looked so hurt and lost, and before I knew what was happening, I was kissing him!

Robin: And?

Brenda: It was amazing! He is so hot and sexy!

Robin: Brenda, you are starting to scare me. This guy is dangerous!

Brenda: Stone works for him!

Robin: Don't remind me!

Brenda: Well, Sonny is obviously not interested in me. He made that clear tonight. I probably will never see him again.

Robin: You really like him, don't you.

Brenda: It goes way beyond like.

Robin: You never know what will happen Brenda. After all, tomorrow is Valentines Day. The holiday when anything can happen.

Stone and Sonny are back at their apartment and Stone is really letting him have it.

Stone: Okay, do you want to tell me exactly what is going on with you?

Sonny: I just had to get out of there, I felt like I was drowning.

Stone: For that you interrupt my date with one of the most wonderful girls in the world?

Sonny: I'm sorry about Robin. You really like her don't you?

Stone: Yes I do, and I thought you really liked Brenda.

Sonny: I do, I like her a lot.

Stone: Then why would you treat her so badly?

Sonny: What do you mean?

Stone: You told me that a gentleman never leads a lady on or abandons a lady. Not only did you do that to Brenda, you also caused me to do that to Robin.

Sonny: Another thing that a gentleman never does is passionately attack

a lady on the first date!

Stone: Especially not in public.

Sonny: You got it! Man, a few more minutes and I would have lost it!

Stone: You want her?

Sonny: Yeah man, bad. I was ready to pull her under the table.

Stone: Okay, so you want her pretty badly, but she is not the first girl you've wanted. So what makes Brenda different?

Sonny: It's hard to explain. Do you want Robin?

Stone: Yes, but she is not ready.

Sonny: Do you ever look at Robin and think that you could get lost in her?

Stone: Sure. Isn't that part of loving someone.

Sonny: I don't know. But it scares me to think that I could lose myself in Brenda?

Stone: Are you in love with her?

Sonny: I don't know. We haven't been together for that long, but I do know that I have feelings for her that are hard to explain. Those feelings overwhelmed me tonight. I wasn't prepared for them, that is why

I had to get out of there. I want to move real slowly with her. I don't want to hurt her or scare her or disrespect her in any way.

Stone: Sonny, you need to let her in and take a chance with her.

Sonny: I know that. But, what if she doesn't feel the same way about me that I feel about her. What if she is just messing with my head and going out with me to shock the neighbors? She may not feel the same way about me as I feel about her.

Stone: You won't know unless you give her a chance. But first of all,

you are going to have to make up for the mess you made of tonight. If

you are lucky she might give you a second chance. After all tomorrow is Valentines Day. The holiday when anything can happen.

Sonny: Thanks man! You just gave me an idea as to what I can do for Brenda.

Sonny grabs his jacket and heads out the door.

Chapter 8

The doorbell at the Quartermaine mansion rings for some time. Jason is still down stairs. He has just gotten his fax. Reginald is not around and the doorbell is still ringing.

JASON: *Yelling out* Reginald, are you going to answer the door?

He does not get any response. Finally he gets fed up and goes to answer the door. It is Sonny.

Sonny: Good evening, is Brenda available?

JASON: No, Mr. Corinthos she is not.

Sonny: Meaning she isn't here, or she isn't seeing visitors?

JASON: I'm not going to lie to you, Sonny, she doesn't want to see you.

Sonny: I guess I don't blame her. You must be Jason.

JASON: That would be me.

Sonny: She told me that you were fair. Will you please tell her I stopped by to see her.

JASON: I will tell her.

Sonny starts to leave. But Jason stops him.

JASON: Wait a minute. Can I talk to you for a minute?

Sonny: Sure, but I'm in no mood for a lecture. I already got one of those tonight.

JASON: I don't give lectures. I would like your opinion on a business matter. Will you come to the study?

Sonny: Your not going to whack me are you?

JASON: Whatever that means, I wouldn't dream of whacking you Mr.

Corinthos.

Sonny follows Jason into the study.

Sonny: What can I do for you Jason?

JASON: Have you ever heard of a man by the name of Hernando Rivera?

The blood in Sonny's veins turns to ice.

Sonny: No, should I have heard of this Mr. Rivera?

JASON: He is a businessman, not unlike yourself. I thought that maybe you had come across his name.

Sonny: Not that I recall.

Sonny was lying, of that Jason was certain. However, Jason was not

surprised, he had expected him to lie. He hands Sonny a folder.

JASON: Take a look at this information that I just received by fax.

Sonny flips through the information in the file.

Sonny: Wow! No wonder I have never heard of Hernando Rivera. This is not a very nice man.

JASON: That is an underestimate. This man has left a convoluted trail of crime and corruption that leads from Puerto Rico to the Northeastern

edge of the United States.

Sonny: But, this information is all circumstantial, you do not have any proof here that Hernando Rivera has ever even jaywalked!

JASON: Exactly! The only connections that he has are to legitament companies.

Sonny: And the latest one that he is connected to is ELQ.

JASON: You hold in your hand information that strongly suggests that

ELQ's newest board member is a criminal, but there is no proof. Any suggestions as to what I should do with this information?

Sonny: About the only thing you can do is bargain. How and why did you come across this information anyway?

JASON: I started out by being interested in my own ELQ stock and then I

realized that some of the stock belonged to people outside of the family, things started looking interesting, so I kept digging.

Sonny: I always say that if you dig long enough you'll hit skeleton's

every time!

JASON: Yeah, it seems that a small percentage of ELQ stock is held by outsiders, including Rivera, Damian Smith and some guy named Jasper

Jacks. ELQ is being badly mismanaged by my family. My family doesn't think that this concerns me, but it is my inheritance that they are letting slip away. Any suggestions?

Sonny: This is not really any of my business. But since you asked, I will give you some basic business advice.

JASON: I would appreciate that.

Sonny: Business is about power and territory, or in your case capital, the more you have the more power you have. You have to watch people, and when they make a mistake, you use it as an opportunity to move in and take power. To me, this situation screams opportunity. But, I can't tell you what to do, you have to decide that for yourself. If it makes you feel any better; I don't think you are in danger of loosing your inheritance. I think this is more about principles than it is about money.

JASON: You have not really told me anything that I had not already thought about, but thank you Mr. Corinthos.

Sonny: I will see myself out. Please tell Brenda that I am very sorry

about tonight.

JASON: I will. Goodnight.

Sonny leaves the study. Up in Brenda's room, the girls are still eating

ice cream.

Brenda: So, how much ice cream do you think we can eat before they won't

want us any more?

Robin: I think that the more important question is how much do we have

to eat before we stop wanting them.

Brenda: For that we need Chocolate Sauce! I'll be right back.

Brenda goes down stairs just as Sonny is leaving through the front door.

They just barely miss each other.

JASON: You just missed Sonny Corinthos.

Brenda: Really?

JASON: I told him you didn't want to see anyone tonight. He wanted you to know that he was sorry about tonight.

Brenda: Was he sincere?

Even though Jason has not been in his life altering accident, he still has the ability to tell when people are lying.

JASON: He seemed sincere to me. Grandfather wants to talk to you, I think AJ called him about your date with Sonny. I told him that you had

Robin over tonight and he agreed to wait until tomorrow.

Brenda: Thanks Jason.

JASON: Hey Brenda! Do you want to have dinner with me tomorrow night?

Brenda thought about it for a second. Sonny hadn't asked her, and she didn't want to spend Valentines Day alone.

Brenda: Sure Jason, why not!

She goes to the kitchen to get the chocolate sauce.

J *To himself* People make mistakes, then you move in and take control.

Jason goes to make a phone call.

Chapter 9

The next morning Brenda wakes up at around 8:00. Robin is still asleep.

Brenda doesn't have class today, but there is something that she has to do. Suddenly she remembers and blots out of bed.

Brenda: Oh my gosh!

Robin: *Waking up a little.* What's wrong Brenda?

Brenda: How could you let me eat so much ice cream last night, I have a modeling assignment today!

Robin: Relax Brenda, the ice cream you ate last night is not going to make you fat today.

Brenda: Tell that to the wardrobe guy when my dress doesn't fit! I have to get ready to go. Do you mind if I shower first?

Robin: Fine with me, I'll just go back to sleep for an hour or so.

While Brenda was showering Stone called and asked her to have dinner with him. During their conversation Robin let it slip that Brenda had a modeling shoot at the Port Charles Hotel and of course Stone tells Sonny. Brenda comes out of the bathroom.

Brenda: Did I hear the phone ring?

Robin: Yes you did, it was Stone asking me to go to dinner with him tonight. Of course I said yes.

Brenda: Of course. I'm going out with Jason tonight.

Robin: When did this happen?

Brenda: He asked me last night, and why shouldn't I go out with him he is cute and sweet and rich. Want to double date?

Robin: I don't think so. I mean can you think of two more opposite personalities than Jason and Stone?

Brenda: I guess you're right, that probably wouldn't work.

Robin: Do you want to get together tomorrow and help each other get ready for the wedding?

Brenda: I don't think I am going to the wedding.

Robin: Brenda, you have to go. Karen is your friend and she wants you there. I want you there.

Brenda: I'll think about it. After all it might be therapeutic. Now, go shower so we can go down for breakfast.

When Brenda arrived at the Port Charles Hotel there was a large vase of flowers waiting for her from Sonny. They were his apology. She did not know what to think or feel about him, so she set them aside and went to go get ready for the photo shoot. The lobby of the Hotel had been filled with different types of exotic cars. Brenda had her eye on one in particular, a dark green Jaguar. It was the first car that she was photographed with, she was wearing a long green taffeta dress that exactly matched the car. They were taking a break from shooting the photographs. Brenda stood admiring the car; she ran her hand along the top of the car.

Brenda: Absolutely beautiful!

She did not notice that Sonny was standing behind her.

Sonny: I couldn't agree more!

Brenda: I was talking about the car!

Sonny: I wasn't.

Brenda: The flowers were a surprise. How did you know I'd be here this morning?

S *He smiles* I have my ways.

Brenda: I'll bet you do.

Sonny: Robin told Stone, and he told me. Do you know how hard it is to order flowers on Valentines Day?

Brenda: Not really, but thank you for the effort.

Sonny: Does that mean that you for give me for last night? I acted totally inappropriate.

Brenda: You acted like a jerk!

Sonny: You're right, I did act like a jerk. But it was because of the way that you affected me Brenda. I was not prepared for the way that you made me feel.

Brenda: So, you act like a jerk and it's all my fault?

Sonny: Of course not! But, I didn't want to scare you or disrespect you by moving to fast.

Brenda: Okay, I guess I can buy that explanation. I do want to move slowly with you Sonny.

Sonny: I want what you want. Now will you let me make it up to you by cooking you dinner tonight?

Brenda: Sorry, I'm having dinner with Jason tonight. He said something at breakfast about your loss being his gain.

Sonny: That little back stabber, that is the last time I give him advice!

Sonny looks over at the Jaguar.

Sonny: So do you really like that car?

Brenda: Are you kidding me? That is the sexist car ever made. I want that car and I am going to have it as soon as I can get a loan.

Sonny: I was just asking because I see you more in a car like that one.

*He points to a red sports car*

Brenda: That red Porsche?

Sonny: Now that is a sexy car! Why don't you go try it out?

He takes her hand and leads her to the sports car. He opens the driver's side door and helps her into the car.

Sonny: This car was made for you. This is a beautiful picture.

Brenda: Sonny why do you think I should give you a second chance? They are so close they can feel each other breathing.

Sonny: What?

Brenda: You heard me Sonny, why should I give you a second chance?

Sonny: Because of the way you make me feel Brenda, no the way we make each other feel.

Brenda: Which is how?

Sonny: Come here, and I'll show you.

He grabs her and kisses her. It is a breath stealing, passionate kiss that seems to go on forever. When they pull apart Brenda is speechless and has trouble catching her breath.

Sonny: That is why! Happy Valentines Day Brenda, See ya later!

He walks off and the photographer returns.

P: Are you ready to start shooting again Brenda?

She is still speechless and is breathless.

P: Brenda are you okay.

Brenda: Yes and no, I may never be okay again! But it is a lot better than I was 10 minutes ago.

The photographer looks at her as if she has lost her mind.

Chapter 10

Edward Quartermaine is reading in the study. The door bell has been ringing for a bout 5 minutes and no one has answered it yet! Reginald must be off doing a play or something, because he sure hasn't been around lately to answer the door. Finally Edward realizes the person is not going to go away and gets up to open the door, it is Sonny.

Sonny: Good evening Sir. I would like to see Brenda please.

Edward: You're Sonny Corinthos aren't you? You're nothing but a hoodlum, you may not see Brenda tonight or any other night! Now get out!

Before Sonny can say a word Edward has closed the door. There was no way that Sonny was going to get in the front door with papa lion Edward on guard. He would just have to find another way to see Brenda. Brenda was sitting on her bed trying to do her accounting homework. She was taking a college accounting class and 2 basic business classes. She was starting a recording business with her best friend Lois Cerullo and Brenda wanted to be able to carry her own weight in the company. It was still early, but Brenda had already gotten dressed for bed. She did not know why but modeling always made her tired. Most people thought that modeling just meant looking pretty for the camera. Actually, it took a lot of energy and you had to spend a lot of time standing around waiting. Brenda's date with Jason had not gone 1/2 bad. Jason was a sweet enough guy, but she had found that she could not stop thinking about Sonny the whole time that she was out with Jason. One thing that had come out of the date was that Jason had agreed to co-sign a loan for her so that she could buy the car of her dreams, the red Porsche. Why did she suddenly want that car? Because, Sonny wanted it! She wondered what he was doing right now. He was probably out on a date with a beautiful blonde. Brenda heard a sound outside her window, actually, it was more like something soft hitting her window. She heard it again and so she got up to look out the window. She is surprised to see Sonny standing underneath her window and throwing pine cones at the glass.

Sonny: Brenda!

She opens the window.

Brenda: Sonny what are you doing?

Sonny: Throwing pine cones at your widow.

Brenda: What on earth for?

Sonny: To get your attention

Brenda: Sonny you have got my attention, permanently! Is there something

wrong with the front door?

Sonny: I already tried that and was greeted by Edward Quartermaine. He

is very protective, he threw me out!

Brenda had been able to avoid Edward all day, apparently, Sonny had not been as lucky.

Brenda: Sorry about that, but what are you doing here?

Sonny: I thought maybe you would like to go for a ride in my new car.

He indicates to his car. Brenda's eyes widen in surprised when she sees his car.

Brenda: You bought my green Jaguar? I hate you!

Sonny: So, how about that ride?

Brenda: Give me a few minutes to get dressed.

Sonny: I would rather see you undressed, but could you hurry I wouldn't want to give Edward reason to turn the dogs loose on me.

Brenda: I'll meet you at the back stairs in 10 minutes.

Sonny: Okay, and Brenda make sure that you bring a jacket.

They are driving up a mountain road that is surrounded by thick Forrest on either side.

Brenda: I'm surprised to see you alone on Valentines Day. I figured that you would be on a date with a beautiful blonde.

Sonny: I tried, but Laura Spencer already had plans and when I tried to approach Ruby she threw a box of candy at me and ruined my new suit. *He flashes her a dimpled smile*

Brenda: She did that to you?

Sonny: Yep! I'm not keeping you from anything important am I?

Brenda: No. just my accounting homework.

Sonny: You're taking an accounting class?

Brenda: That surprises you? What, don't you think that I can handle accounting?

Sonny: I think that you can handle anything that you set your mind to Brenda. But why would you want to take an accounting class?

Brenda: I'm starting up a recording business with a friend. Lois is a business genius, but I want to be able to understand what is going on so I'm taking a few business classes.

Sonny: Sounds smart to me. If you ever need help with accounting homework just let me know.

Brenda: You know accounting?

Sonny: I'm one of the best! It is hard to run a club if you can't balance the books.

Brenda: I thought that people like you didn't worry about balanced books.

Sonny: There you go again Brenda, assuming the worst of me before you really even know me! Didn't I answer your questions last night?

Brenda: Yes but....

He stops the car and turns to her.

Sonny: Look Brenda, if you don't want to be here with me just say the word and I'll take you right back home. Everything is your decision, we are moving completely at your speed. So what will it be Brenda. do you want to go home or do you want to be here with me?

Chapter 11

Sonny is staring at Brenda intensely, and it is scaring her a little.

They are on a deserted road and it must be getting close to 10:00. She did not tell anyone that she was leaving the house or where she was going. Sonny could do just about anything to her and no one would ever know. And yet all he wants to know is if she wants him to take her home? Sonny could not believe how much Brenda was affecting him, he had never wanted anything as much as he wanted her in that moment, and at the same time he also wanted to protect her and respect her feelings and boundaries.

Sonny: Brenda, it's your decision? Where do we go from here?

Brenda: Sonny, don't be angry.

Sonny: I'm not angry Brenda. I'm more like confused. Every time that I think our relationship is moving ahead, you throw me a curve ball and sometimes it hurts that you seem to have a preconceived opinion of who

Sonny Corinthos is.

Brenda: I'm sorry Sonny. I don't mean to hurt your feelings

Sonny: Sometimes it feels like you think I don't have any feelings.

Brenda: Sonny that is not true. I know that you are a very passionate guy, with a lot of feelings. It's just that all of my friends are trying to give me advice about you and none of it is in your favor.

Sonny: Brenda, I know that there are a lot of people who have bad things to say about me, maybe I even deserve some of it. My point is that I don't care what the rest of the world says or feels about me, but I do care about how you feel about me; and what you think about me really matters.

Brenda: Sonny, sometimes I think that you are too hot for me to handle.

Sonny: As I told you before, I think you can handle anything that you set your mind to. Look Brenda, are you going to be satisfied with a spark ,or do you want to set the whole world on fire?

He is giving her such an intense look now that her whole body is tingling.

Brenda: I think we had better go!

Sonny: Where?

Brenda: Your the one driving. I hope you know where this road is headed.

Sonny: That I do. It's a place that is very special to me that I think you'll like.

He drives the car to the top of a hill and stops and parks. He gets out of the car and goes around to open her car door.

Sonny: You're not scared are you?

Brenda: Not at all. *It was a little lie*

Sonny: Then come on!

He leads her to the base of an observation tower that looks over the tree tops. There is an outside staircase that wraps around the tower and leads to a small door. Sonny heads up the stairs and unlocks the door indicates for Brenda to follow him. He had to use a flash light because it was very dark, the moon hadn't risen yet. Inside the tower is furnished only with a small cot and an even smaller cook stove and a lantern, which Sonny lights. There are two windows with heavy insulated drapes. Sonny pulls back the drapes on one of the windows. They have a clear view of the ocean over the tree tops.

Brenda: Wow! What a spectacular view. What is this place?

Sonny: It used to be used to spot boats in trouble and forest fires. Now there is better technology for both. Come check out the view on the other side.

He opens the drapes in front of the other window, which overlooks the lights of the city. He looks at his watch.

Brenda: How did you find this place?

Sonny: I found it by accident one day, when I was conducting business in the area. It's a great place to come and think. I like it almost as much as the docks.

Brenda looks upset for a moment as a thought crosses her mind, was she the first woman Sonny had ever brought to this place.

Brenda: Did you ever bring Karen here? *She regrets the question the instant after she asks it*

Sonny is silent for a moment, then he finally responds by walking up behind her and putting his arms around her waist.

Sonny: Never, me, Stone and now you are the only people that know about this place.

She leans back against him and he tightens his embrace on her. They both sit down on the floor and he continues to hold her in his arms. He points out the window.

Sonny: Keep your eyes on the city Brenda.

Brenda: Why?

Sonny: Because here in about a minute you are going to see something magical.

As he speaks a full moon starts to rise over the city. It is the most breath taking view Brenda has ever seen.

Brenda: Sonny there is something that I have to tell you. It's about my relationship with Jagger.

Sonny: We don't have to talk about that now.

Brenda: Please, Sonny I want to tell you about it okay?

Sonny: Sure, if that is what you want.

Brenda: You have answered all of my questions and you haven't really asked me any.

Sonny: I figured that you would tell me when you were ready.

Brenda: I'm ready.

Sonny: Okay, go ahead.

Brenda: Well, when I first met Jagger I was very young. Not just age wise, I was very immature. He was the hottest thing that I had ever seen and I just had to have him despite the fact that he was in love with someone else.

Sonny: Were you in love with him, or are you in love with him?

Brenda: Neither, I guess the best way to describe my relationship with

Jagger was sex. He made me feel good, and beautiful and wanted, it was not just physical it was emotional too. But it wasn't real, because he never really loved me the way I had always dreamt of being loved.

Sonny: He was like a drug that made you feel good, but wasn't real.

Brenda: I hadn't thought about it in that way before, but I guess he was like a drug that I used to get an emotional high. And, a major plus was that the sex was good.

Sonny: Well that's something I guess, not a lot, but it is something.

I'm glad that you felt that you could tell me this.

Brenda: I want things to be open between us, no closed doors. Sonny can

I ask you a question?

Sonny: Another one? Sure, why not.

Brenda: If this place is so secret, why are we here?

Sonny: Isn't obvious Brenda? I wanted to spend Valentines Day here and I wanted to spend it with you.

Brenda: I'm glad you did.

Sonny: That reminds me, I have something for you.

He pulls a small velvet box out of his jacket pocket.

Brenda: Sonny, I can't except anything like that from you. We have agreed to move slowly.

Sonny: It is nothing major Brenda. Think of it as a token of our friendship. Valentines Day is one of my favorite Holidays and one on which I like to give my friends gifts.

Brenda: All right, if it means that much to you I'll accept it as a token of our friendship.

She opens the box. Inside is a heart shaped silver locket on a silver chain.

Brenda: It's beautiful. It looks old.

Sonny: It is old. It belonged to my Grandmother.

Brenda: Sonny, I can't take your Grandmother's locket.

Sonny: Brenda, you already accepted the gift. My Grandmother would have approved. She was the one that taught me to love this holiday. She always said that it was important for love and for friendship as well. I would very much like you to have it, as my friend.

Brenda: All right, if it means that much to you, will you help me put on the locket?

Sonny lifts up her hair and latches the locket. Then he puts his arms back around her waist. She leans back against his chest and shoulders.

Brenda This place is so peaceful.

Sonny: It has always been one of my favorite places.

Brenda: Thank you for sharing it with me, Sonny.

Sonny: My pleasure. Happy Valentines Day Brenda!

She drifts off to sleep in his arms. He watches her sleep. He never thought that he would spend the night with a beautiful woman and just holding her in his arms and watching her sleep. He still wanted her, maybe even more now, but he no longer felt an urgency about being with her. He could wait, not forever, but until she was ready. He looks at the locket hanging around her neck, it looked as if it had been made for her.

Sonny: Well Brenda, I've given you my heart. Take good care of it.

He kisses her gently on the forehead and continues to watch her sleep in his arms.

Chapter 12

Sonny had spent most of the night watching Brenda sleep. She was the most beautiful thing that he had ever seen. The sun was beginning to rise and he gently woke Brenda up.

Sonny: Brenda wake up the sun is rising.

The sun is rising over the city of Port Charles and it is painting the sky with shades of pink and gold light. Brenda moves up in Sonny's arms so that she can get a better look at the sunrise. She looks up at him.

Sonny: Good morning.

Brenda: Morning? Do you mean that we were up all night?

Sonny: Actually you slept.

Brenda: But we were out all night together?

Sonny: Yes, I probably should have woken you, but you were sleeping so peacefully.

Brenda: I have to get home!

She stands up and starts to pace

Sonny: Do you have class today?

Brenda: No, but I have a wedding to go get ready for.

Sonny: Your going to Karen and Jagger's wedding?

Brenda: Yeah, I guess so. They are both kind of my friends and Robin wants me there. Also, I have been thinking about some of the things that we talked about last and I have decided that it will really help me to let go of Jagger, so I am going to attend the wedding.

Sonny: If that is really what you feel that you have to do, then I say go for it!

Brenda: Shall we go back to town?

Sonny: I think we had better.

Brenda: Sonny, thank you!

Sonny: For what?

Brenda: For the locket, for sharing this place with me, and for letting me sleep in your arms last night.

Sonny: You're welcome Brenda. It was my pleasure, all of it!

Chapter 13

Sonny dropped Brenda off at the Quartermaine's. He watches her walk up the front steps until she disappears into the house. She was amazing, she affected him in ways he didn't fully understand, but he didn't mind the feelings either. He smiled and then went home to shower and change. He had to meet with Luke Spencer later at Kelly's.

Brenda walked into the Quartermaine mansion she stopped just inside the door and thought about Sonny. She looked down at the locket and smiled.

It had felt so good being in his arms last night. She knew that it was not what he was used to, just holding a woman, but she really admired him for being able to control himself, she was not sure how long she could control herself though. But, at the same time she was a little scared to give into her feelings for a man that might be dangerous. She walked into the entrance hall and was ambushed by Edward.

Edward: Where have you been young lady! *He does not let her answer*

Never mind, the family would like to have a talk with you.

He leads her to the study. Edward had said, "The Family." Brenda knew she was in for it this time. Sure enough, they were all out in force.

Lila, Edward, Monica Alan, A.J., Ned and Jason were all there.

Lila: Good morning Brenda dear.

Brenda: Good morning Lila.

Lila: Have you eaten breakfast?

Brenda: No, I haven't had a chance yet. Does cook have anything left.

Lila We missed you at breakfast. But, I'm sure that we can find you something to eat.

Edward: Lila, do not patronize the child. She spent the night with a hoodlum!

Alan: You would have thought that the least Sonny Corinthos could have done was to fix you breakfast the morning after.

Monica: Well you should know Alan, after all, you are an expert on "The

Morning After."

Alan: Well, if that is not the pot calling the kettle black Monica!

AJ: Excuse me, Mom and Dad, we are talking about Brenda's sex life not yours. Gee Brenda, I would have thought that you would have a hard time bedding lower than Jagger Cates, I guess I was wrong.

Brenda: Shut up AJ, you don't know anything! Not that it is any of your business, but nothing happened between Sonny and me last night. He was a perfect gentleman and he respects me, which is more than I can say for any of you!

Ned: I have to admit A.J. that was a low statement, even for you!

A.J. I just call them the way that I see them, Ned.

Ned: Put a sock in it, Junior! Brenda, we are concerned about you, Sonny

Corinthos is not the right man for you Brenda. You can do much better.

Brenda: I wouldn't be so quick to judge me, Eddie!

Ned gives her a pleading look.

Ned: Perhaps your right Brenda, I shouldn't judge.

Edward: What was that you just called him?

Brenda: Just a nick name I have for him.

Ned was able to breathe again.

Brenda : Well Jason, I'm sure you have an opinion about Sonny, so lets hear it.

Jason Actually, I think that Sonny is kind of cool.

All the Quartermaine's, except Brenda and Lila: "What did you say!?"

Jason just shrugs.

Edward: We know that you are just dating Sonny Corinthos to get our attention Brenda, well, you've got our attention. Sonny Corinthos is a phase you are going through and I want it to end this instant.

Reginald sticks his head into the room, he has finally decided to make an appearance.

Reg: Miss Scorpio is here to see Miss Barrett.

Brenda: Excuse me everyone.

Edward: We are not through with this discussion Brenda!

Brenda goes out in the hall to greet Robin.

Brenda: You have got the best timing of anyone I know.

Robin: Why what's going on?

Brenda: I was out all night with Sonny.

Robin: What are you talking about Brenda?

Brenda: Nothing happened, well actually it did. He gave me his grandmothers locket and I slept in his arms.

Robin: You slept with him?

Brenda: Yes, but we didn't have sex or anything. I'll tell you all about

it while we get ready for the wedding.

Meanwhile, across town at Kelly's Sonny is waiting for Luke. People are scurrying around preparing things for Jagger and Karen's wedding. Sonny is trying to ignore the preparations. Ruby is glaring at him, but other than that she has not talked to him. Luke walks in the door.

Luke: Ruby babe, a cup of your best coffee, and one for my friend as well.

Robin: Luke can I speak to you for a moment.

Luke: Sure, what's on your mind darlin?

Ruby: In case you haven't noticed, we are preparing for a wedding here and Sonny Corinthos is not at all welcome.

Luke: A wedding here, what's the matter was the pool hall down the street all booked up?

Ruby: Luke, I don't like him. I don't like who he is or what he has you doing. So you finish your dirty little business and get him out of here before Karen or Jagger arrives.

Luke: You got it babe!

Sonny was Frank Smith's right hand man in Port Charles and Luke Spencer reported to Sonny. They had successfully helped Frank Smith escape from jail about a week earlier. Now, Frank Smith was in hiding, nobody knew where exactly. Sonny knew that Luke would really like to know where

Frank Smith was hiding. In fact, Luke would probably be the first to admit that he wanted to find Frank and kill him. Luke had every right to feel the way he did about Frank, after all Frank Smith had hounded and tormented the Spencer family endlessly for the past 15 years. Sonny liked Spencer, Luke was loyal and thought on his feet. Most importantly, Spencer could get just about any piece of faked identification a person needed. He had gotten himself and Sonny the documents that identified them as U.S. Marshals and allowed them to breeze Frank out of jail.

Still, no mater how much Sonny liked Luke, Frank Smith was still his boss and the person to whom he owed his loyalty. He dreaded the day that he had to choose between friendship and loyalty. Luke walks over and sits backwards on a chair.

Sonny: What is wrong with your aunt?

Luke: She's afraid we are going to crash the wedding.

Sonny: I see, and we didn't RSVP.

Luke: You got it man!

Sonny: What have you got for me?

Luke: Information and a little warning. Word on the street is that some people are a little upset with your rapid rise to power. Everyone realizes that with Frank out of town indefinitely, you are in control.

Sonny: That makes some people nervous? Do they think I can't handle things?

Luke: Sonny, your reputation with Joe Scully has proceeded you. Everyone knows you can handle things, Frank's confidence in you alone is enough to snuff out any doubts.

Sonny: The question is, should I be the one handling things?

Luke: To most of these guys you are an outsider, your reputation aside, they just don't know you.

Sonny: Are you talking about a potential turf war. That's not what I want, Luke.

Luke: Nobody wants a war. But there are a few people who may try to take you out, quietly.

Sonny: What are you suggesting I do?

Luke: Watch your back man, and maybe hire a few body guards.

Sonny: Thanks for the warning.

Luke: I thought you should know, but I didn't want to disturb you yesterday evening.

Sonny: I'm glad you didn't disturb me yesterday evening!

Luke: You got something going on with someone special?

Sonny: Brenda Barrett.

Luke: The "perfume girl", the "Face of Deception"? That Brenda Barrett?

Sonny: That would be the one, and only Brenda!

Luke: Well, I have to admit that she is a beauty, but other than that why?

Sonny: For one thing, she stands up to me. I deserted her on a date and the next day she told me off and she was right.

Luke: A woman that talks back, that turns you on?

Sonny: Brenda is strong, independent smart and very sexy. All of that turns me on, it really does.

Luke: Whatever spins your wheels. My wife has ruined me for ordinary women, so I have no comment.

Sonny: I had better get out of here, before people start arriving for the wedding.

Luke: Remember what I said, watch your back. And when your around Miss

Barrett, better watch your front as well.

Sonny: Thanks for the advice and the information

Sonny leaves Kelly's and does not realize he is being followed. He needs to think and there is only one place where he can do it. He walks to an alley, two men follow him. One of them pulls out a gun, the other one shakes his head. Sonny is getting into his car

Man1: Not now! It is too public here, we must follow him!

Man2: I know where he is going.

The two men get in a nearby car and follow Sonny's car.

Nearby, Brenda and Robin are on their way to Kelly's. Brenda is driving her new car. She suddenly gets a feeling of dread. She shakes it off as just nerves concerning the wedding. Sonny's car stops at the top of the mountain and he gets out. The car that is following him also stops and the two men get out with their gun's drawn.

Brenda stops the car outside of Kelly's and her and Robin get out and go into Kelly's and up to one of the rooms. They open the door. Karen turns around and greets them with a smile.

Sonny walks up a small hill. He turns around and the two men greet him with guns drawn.

Chapter 14

Robin goes to hug Karen.

Karen: I'm so glad that you guys got here all right. I hear that the streets are starting to get icy.

Robin: They are starting to get a little icy, but Brenda drove us here in her new Porsche.

Brenda: Not that a fancy sports car really matters on an icy road.

Robin: So how can we help you get ready?

Karen: I'm almost finished. My mom helped me with just about everything.

Brenda: You look gorgeous. Is it cold in here?

Robin: I don't think so, why?

Brenda: I just felt cold air. Anyway, Karen, do you have your something old, something new and all that.

Karen: Well my dress is new, my mother made it.

Robin: It's beautiful!

Brenda: What about the rest? *She can not shake an uneasy feeling that something is wrong.*

Karen: Well, I have a blue garter and I hadn't really thought about something old or borrowed.

Brenda fingers the locket that Sonny gave her. But decides against loaning it to Karen.

Robin: I was hoping that you would say that.

She reaches in her purse and pulls out a small jewelry box and hands Karen a pin.

Robin: My mother wore this when she married my stepfather Duke, it is very old. I want you to wear it tonight.

There is a knock at the door that makes Brenda jump. She is extremely nervous.

Sonny is extremely nervous, but he manages to keep his cool.

Sonny: I think there is some mistake here. What is this all about?

Man1: Don't try and be a wise guy Corinthos, you know what this is about.

Sonny: Let's pretend for a minute that I don't know what this is about.

Man2: Our boss feels like Frank Smith made a bad business move when he put you in charge.

Sonny: See there, your problem is not with me at all. You should take this up with Frank Smith.

Man1: He ain't here and you are here.

Man2: Besides, do we look stupid?

Sonny: Well, actually.....

Man1: Shut up! You're just a punk Corinthos, nobody is going care if we rub you out.

Sonny: Frank might care.

Man2: You're replaceable.

Sonny: Are you willing to take that chance? By the way, who is your boss?

Man2: We aren't stupid.

Sonny: Hey, since I'm going to be dead any way, what have you got to loose? Come on, who sent you?

Man1 Don't tell him Larry!

Man2: I told you not to use my real name Johnny!

Sonny uses their bickering as a chance to rush them and try to grab there guns. The sound of two gun shots invade the night air

Robin opens the door of Karen's room. Stone was standing in the hall outside of the room. He was dressed in a tuxedo and looked gorgeous.

Robin's heart skipped a beat when she saw him.

Stone: Wow! Three beautiful ladies in one room! Robin you take my breath away.

Robin: Thank you. You look good too. *Thinking to herself, "That was so stupid!"*

Stone: Karen, you and Brenda look nice too.

Karen: Thank you Stone. I know that Jagger really appreciates you being here tonight.

Stone: It was the least I could do. He sent me to let you know that he had gotten here safely.

Karen: I'm glad he did. The roads are starting to get icy and I was getting nervous.

Stone: He's nervous too. In fact, I need to get back down there.

Stone leaves the room and is walking down the hall. Brenda follows him out.

Brenda: Stone wait! Have you seen Sonny today?

Stone: Just for a few minutes. He stopped by the apartment to shower and change. He told me about last night, not details or anything, just how he felt. You mean a lot to him Brenda.

Brenda: Yeah well, the feeling is mutual. Was he all right with the wedding today and everything?

Stone: I guess, why?

Brenda: I don't know, it's just a feeling I have.

Suddenly, the blood in Brenda's veins turns cold and she feels like she has been hit in the side. Her face turns white.

Stone: Brenda, are you okay?

Brenda: No, I'm not okay. I have to go, tell Robin and Karen I'm sorry, but I have to go! *She runs.*

Stone: You have to go where? Brenda!

Brenda runs down the stairs and nearly bumps into Jagger

Jagger: Brenda?

Brenda: Look Jagger, best wishes and much happiness to you both, but I have to go find Sonny!

Jagger: Brenda the roads are a mess!

She is long gone. She runs to the docks, but Sonny is not there. Soft snow flakes start to fall, but Brenda hardly notices.

Brenda: Sonny where are you! * She frantically screams, then realizes where he must be at.*

Brenda: The tower! *She runs to her car and gets in and dives like mad to the lookout station.*

At the look out tower, Sonny sees the sparks from the guns, but it is too late to do anything about them. He drops to the ground.

Man1: Damn it!

Man2: We weren't supposed to shoot him, we were only supposed to scare him!

Man1: Lets get out of here!

The two men run past Sonny's car to their car. They jump in and peel out down the hill and back towards town. Blood from Sonny's wounds stains the fresh fallen snow.

Chapter 15

Brenda was driving like a mad woman up the icy mountain road. Another car came down the hill at her and passed her by. But it wasn't Sonny's

Jaguar and he had not been one of the two people in that car.

Brenda: I thought that Sonny said this place was unused. He, Stone and I were the only ones that knew about it.

She wondered if Sonny had lied to her. If he used the look out tower for business dealings. Maybe that was all she was feeling, just her uncertainty about Sonny Corinthos and who he was and what he did for a living. Maybe she should just turn around and go back to the wedding.

Something compelled her to keep driving, something made her feel that

Sonny needed her. She was almost at the top of the mountain. Somehow

Sonny manages to stand up and stagger towards the road. His vision is blurry and he has no feeling in his right arm. Brenda sees a figure standing in the middle of the road up ahead. She swerves to avoid the person and her car skids on a patch of ice and hits an embankment. She is shaken up but, unharmed. She gets out of her car and runs to the fallen figure she saw standing in the road and realizes it is Sonny. She turns him over and opens his jacket and sees blood on his shirt.

Brenda: My God, Sonny you're bleeding!

She half drags and half carries him to her car and puts him in the passengers side.

Brenda: Sonny, what happened?

Sonny: *Weakly* Brenda?

Brenda: Sonny I have to get you to a hospital!

Sonny: No, no hospital! Call 555-1221 and ask for Cusack, tell him I've been shot.

Brenda fumbles with her cell phone, but is finally able to dial the numbers. She does what Sonny asks and Cusack says that he will bring a doctor.

Brenda: Hurry, please! *She hangs up the phone.*

Brenda: Help in on the way Sonny.

Sonny: Brenda, don't leave me.

Brenda: Don't worry, I'm staying right here. But you have to promise me the same thing, hang on Sonny, Please!

He slips in and out of conciseness.

Sonny: Brenda?

Brenda: I'm right here.

Sonny: How did you know?

Brenda: I don't know. I just knew that you needed me Sonny.

He slips once more into an unconscious state. Brenda takes his hand, it is cold and he looks so helpless and lifeless. Tears begin to spill from her eyes and roll down her checks.

Brenda: Sonny, please hang on. Please Sonny I can't loose you. Sonny I

Love You!

Sonny opens his eyes again.

Sonny: What did you just say?

Chapter 16

Brenda: I said that I need you to pull through and that I love you!

Sonny: Brenda, I don't know what to say.

She kisses him gently on the lips.

Brenda: You don't have to say anything right now, we can talk about it when you're stronger. I just wanted you to know, that is all.

She hears movement behind her. Cusack have arrived with the doctor in tow. Brenda moves out of the way, so that the doctor can get to Sonny.

After about 1/2 hour the doctor comes to talk to Brenda.

Brenda: He's going to be all right isn't he?

Doctor: I'm sorry, but it does not look good. He has two bullets, one in his shoulder and one in his side.

Brenda: You can remove them though, right?

Doctor: He has lost to much blood. If I tried to remove them he would probably die.

Brenda: And if you don't remove them?

Doctor: He will probably die, as well.

Brenda: What? He looks better, are you sure?

Doctor: I have stabilized him for the time being, but we need to move him to someplace more comfortable.

Brenda: There is a look out tower up the road. It has heat and a cot.

Doctor: Good, lead us there.

The doctor and Cusack carry Sonny while Brenda leads the way to the look out tower. She climbs the steps and finds the key to the door where she saw Sonny get it from the night before. They carry Sonny in and place him on the cot. Brenda lights the lantern and goes to get some blankets to cover Sonny. Brenda is covering Sonny and trying to make him more comfortable. The doctor starts to leave, but Cusack blocks his way.

Cusack: Where do you think that you are going. That man over there still has two bullets in him.

Doctor: I've done all I can do for him.

Brenda: Then why did you help us bring him here?

Doctor: I figured he should be comfortable while he died.

Brenda: You can't just let him die. You've got to help him!

Cusack: You Will help him. If he dies, you die!

Brenda is starting to freak out. She starts to cry uncontrollably.

Doctor: I can't do anything without a transfusion of blood, any volunteers?

Brenda: Yes! You can use my blood, I'm a universal donor! I won't let him die!

Cusack: There, you see, no problem.

Doctor: It was a joke. I can't do that. Your blood is untested and it could kill him. I won't be responsible.

Cusack: You'll be dead if you don't take responsibility for saving this mans life!

Cusack is really scarring Brenda. She wants to run out into the night and leave these crazy people behind her, but if she did that than Sonny would surely die and she can not stand the thought of loosing him.

Brenda: Please, I carry proof with me that there is nothing wrong with my blood. If you do this and Sonny dies, we won't hold you responsible.

The doctor looks at Cusack, who nods his head.

Cusack: The lady is right.

Doctor: I have never heard of anything like this in all of my years as a physician, but okay, I'll do the transfusion..

Brenda: I don't have to look do I? Because, I can't stand the sight of blood.

After the transfusion Brenda felt very weak. She can barely hear the doctor andCusack discussing the medicine that the doctor was leaving for Sonny and what to do if Sonny did not if make it through the night. Brenda wraps up in a blanket and falls asleep on the floor. A few hours latter she wakes up, she is all alone with Sonny. She walks over and makes sure that the door is locked and then walk over to Sonny and kneels on the floor beside the cot. She puts her head on his chest and makes sure that he is still breathing. His breath is shallow, but steady. She listens to his heart beating for a while and then get up and goes to a small table where the doctor has left a bottle of medication and a bottle of water. Propped up against the bottle of medication is a card for a funeral home. She crumples the card up and throws it away.

Brenda: I won't be needing that!

Sonny: Brenda?

She rushes to his side.

Brenda: I'm right here Sonny. *She takes his hand.*

Sonny: Don't leave me.

Brenda: Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere.

He falls back asleep. She takes her cellular phone out of her purse and calls the Quartermaine house. She is relieved when she gets Reginald on the phone.

Brenda: Reginald, this is Brenda. The roads are icy, so I'm going to spend the night with Robin. Tell anyone who asks that I will see them in the morning.

Brenda hangs up the phone and goes back to sitting beside the cot and watching Sonny sleep. He looks so sweet and innocent, just like a little boy, but then again little boys do not usually get shot and left to bleed to death on mountain sides. She runs her hand through his hair and kisses him lightly on the forehead. It was enough to wake him though, and he looks up at her and smiles.

Sonny: You're still here?

Brenda: I promised you I wouldn't leave. You scared me, I thought you were going to die.

Sonny: I might have if you hadn't come along. What happened?

Brenda: Why don't you tell me Sonny?

Sonny: You saved my life, thank you.

Brenda: I had to, after all you owe me!

Sonny: What do I owe you?

Brenda: Well for starters, you owe me a body job on my car, and you bled all over my seat.

Sonny: A little club soda will get the blood out of your car's seat.

Brenda: I don't even want to know how you know how to take blood out of car leather!

Sonny: You probably don't. So is that all I owe you? *He is giving her an extremely hot look.*

Brenda: Well, I also loaned you a couple of pints of my blood.

Sonny: Okay, I get the picture. You loaned me your blood?

Brenda: Yes Sonny you needed a blood transfusion and my blood type fit the bill

Sonny: You know what this means, we are connected now.

Brenda: It also means that I'm responsible for you. Now how do you feel?

Sonny: Come here Brenda.

He takes his good arm and wraps it around her and pulls her close to him. She rests her head on his chest.

Sonny: I'm feeling a lot better now that you're here.

He loved holding her and just being close to her. In fact, he just loved her. Now more than ever he realized that is was true. He was in love with Brenda Barrett! A smile spreads across his face. She pulls away, stands up and walks away from him. She looks nervous and slightly uncomfortable.

Sonny: Hey, where are you going?

Chapter 17

Sonny: You said you wouldn't leave me.

Brenda: Don't worry. If I didn't leave when you were bleeding to death

and I didn't leave when Cusack was threatening to kill the doctor if he

didn't help you, I'm not leaving now! I need to get your medication.

She walks over to get the bottle of pills and the bottle of water.

Sonny: I'm sorry you had to see Cusack threatening the doctor. He can

get a little excited at times.

Brenda: Hey it worked. So who am I to complain about his methods. Here

take these. *She gives him 2 pills.*

Sonny: Yes ma'am, nurse Barrett!

She lifts his head up so he can drink from the bottle of water.

Brenda: Sonny, this is not a joke, you almost died tonight!

Sonny: I know Brenda. If you hadn't come along and "loaned" me your

blood. I probably would have died. I owe you a lot.

Brenda: Yes you do, you owe me an explanation for one thing. What

happened here tonight?

Sonny: I guess you probably wouldn't buy the idea that it was all a

hunting accident?

Brenda: Not a chance!

Sonny: It was all a big misunderstanding. A couple of guys mistook me

for somebody else and I got shot. Then you came along and saved my life,

end of story. Now about what you said to me, before the doctor arrived.

Brenda: Sonny, I shouldn't have said anything.

Sonny: But, you did Brenda.

Brenda: Look, a lot has happened tonight. Can I call somebody for you?

He realizes that he is making her uncomfortable and that he might drive

her away if he pushes too hard. So he decides to let it go for the time

being.

Sonny: Yeah, can you call Stone, you can use my cell phone if you can

find it.

Brenda: You didn't have one on you when I found you.

Sonny: I must have dropped it somewhere.

Brenda: That wouldn't surprise me. I'll just use my phone. What's the

number?

Sonny: 555-1711

She dials the number and doesn't get an answer.

Brenda: No answer, maybe he turned it off for the wedding and forgot to

turn it back on.

Sonny: Maybe.

Brenda: I'll try calling Robin at home, maybe he is with her.

Brenda dials Robin's home number Robin answers the phone.

Robin: Hello?

Brenda: Hi Robin, it's Brenda.

Robin: Brenda, What happened after you left Kelly's? Are you all right?

Brenda: I'm fine sweetie. Have you seen Stone?

Robin: Not since the wedding ended, but that was several hours ago.

Brenda: If you see him or hear from him will you have him call me on my

cell phone. It's about Sonny

Robin: Brenda are you sure you are okay?

Brenda: I'm sure. Robin, if any of the Q's call for me will you verify

that I'm staying with you tonight.

Robin: If that is what you want, sure.

Brenda: Thanks Robin. I'll talk to you in the morning.

Brenda hangs up the phone.

Brenda: Robin hasn't seen Stone for a couple of hours, but I told her to

have him call me if she hears from him.

Sonny: Can I use your phone for a minute.

Brenda: It's not long distance is it?

Sonny: I can reverse the charges if it will make you feel better.

Brenda: That's not necessary. Here you go, since you seem to have lost

your phone.

Sonny: I can't imagine how I could have lost it from my inside jacket

pocket. (Sonny's lost phone is not just a prop device, it will actually

become important later, I promise)

Sonny dials a number.

Brenda: Do you want me to wait outside?

Sonny: You promised you wouldn't leave.

Brenda: I just thought that you might be making a call that you don't

want me to over hear.

Sonny: I wouldn't do that.

Sonny: *To the person on the other end* Spencer, if your there pick up

the phone!

Luke was not very happy about being awakened in the middle of the night,

but he had pretty much expected Sonny to call. He had already spoken to

Cusack and knew what had happen.

Luke: I'm here Corinthos, I'm wishing that I wasn't though. I suppose

that you want me to come over there.

Sonny: Yes, I would appreciate it if you hauled your rear over here.

Brenda: Is the perfume girl still there with you.

Sonny: Brenda has not left my side. And if you don't start giving her

respect, I'm going to have to rough you up.

Luke knew that he was teasing.

Luke: I guess anyone who has stuck around after your adventure tonight

is pretty brave.

Sonny: You're right about that, she is the bravest person I know.

Luke: Okay, I'll be there as soon as I can get out of bed. Where exactly

is this place?

Sonny: It's at the end of road 1. Oh, and see if you can find Stone and

bring him along.

Luke: Aren't I enough company?

Sonny: I need somebody to stay with me and somebody to take Brenda home.

Luke: Well I'd bring her home with me, but Laura would object, she's not

into threesomes.

Sonny: I would personally object to that one my friend. See you soon.

Sonny hangs up the phone and looks at Brenda. She is staring out the

window towards the city.

Sonny: What are you thinking about Brenda?

Brenda: Last night, I guess our secret place is not going to be a secret

anymore.

Sonny: There will still be parts of it that are our own secret. Last

night belongs to only you and me Babe.

Brenda: Before tonight, did only you, me and Stone really know about

this place?

Sonny: As far as I know yes. You two are the only ones I ever brought

here.

Brenda: Oh, I just thought maybe this was where you brought all your

women.

Sonny: Brenda, you thought this was where I brought my conquests or

something?

Brenda: I'm sorry, your word that it wasn't should have been enough.

Sonny: Brenda, I would never cheapen what I feel for you by taking you

to a place like that. You are not a conquest for me, a challenge yes,

but a conquest never!

Brenda: I believe you. By the way, I'm not going home.

Sonny: Yes you are.

Brenda: I promised you I wouldn't leave. I never break a promise.

Besides you need me to take care of you.

Sonny: What I need is for you to be comfortable, but most importantly, I

need you to be safe.

Brenda: Do you think that the guys who did this might come back?

Sonny: I have no idea, but I'm not taking any chances with your life and

no offense, but I don't think that either one of us would be much

defense against those guys if they did come back.

Brenda: I need to make sure that you're okay. Remember, you owe me. How

can I collect if you're dead.

Sonny: Brenda, you've already made sure that I'm okay. I'm not going to

die on you, not after all you've gone through tonight to make sure I

survive. I wouldn't do that to you Brenda.

Brenda: Okay, I'll go.

Sonny: Good girl. Now, lets just enjoy our time here before Spencer gets

here and one more person learns of our secret place.

He puts his arm around her again and they both look out the window at

the city lights.

Chapter 18

Sonny had drifted back to sleep and Brenda was watching him again. She

had decided that watching him sleep was her new hobby. There was a soft

knock on the door that startled Brenda. What if it was the guys who had

shot him coming back, or what if Cusack had decided that he did not need

her as a witness.

Brenda: Wait a minute, bad guys don't knock on doors, they break them

down.

She hears the knocking again, and then someone says, "Brenda, open the

door it is Stone and Luke." Brenda opens the door and hugs Stone.

Brenda: I'm so glad you guys are here.

Luke: How's Sonny?

Brenda: Good, considering all he has been through tonight. He's

sleeping.

Sonny: No I'm not asleep.

Brenda: How long have you been awake?

Sonny: For a while, you were enjoying watching me sleep. I didn't want

to spoil it for you.

Brenda: If you did not have two bullet holes in you I would clobber you

Sonny Corinthos!

Luke: Two holes huh? I told you to get a body guard.

Sonny: I'll do that first thing in the morning.

Luke: A little late if you ask me pal.

Sonny: Stone, I need you to call some guys to come pick up Brenda's car.

Stone: Okay, what happen to your phone?

Sonny: I have no idea. Tell the guys to clean it up and take it to a

body shop. Make sure they understand that it is to be repaired and not

destroyed!

Brenda: Destroyed?

Sonny: After you make the call, take Brenda home and then come back

here.

Brenda: Sonny you can't be left alone. The doctor said some one had to

stay with you tonight

He turns to Luke.

Sonny: Spencer, can you stay here while Stone takes Brenda home?

Luke: Yeah, I can stay here for a couple of hours.

Brenda: One problem, I told the Q's that I was staying at Robin's, but

it is too late to go to her house.

Luke: Don't look at me. I already told you I wasn't taking her home with

me.

Sonny: You can go back to my apartment. Stone and I won't be using it.

You can shower and crash for the night.

Brenda: I don't know about this guy. I save his life and then he just

kicks me out?

Sonny: Brenda, come here!

She goes and sits on the edge of the cot. He pulls her towards him and

kisses her long and hard on the mouth.

Sonny: Does that feel like kicking you out.

Brenda: No, not at all.

Sonny: Like I said before, I want you to be safe and comfortable. I may

never be able to repay for everything that you did here tonight.

Brenda: I'm going to have fun thinking of ways for you to repay me.

Sonny: I don't doubt that!

Luke: Excuse me, remember us? I think that Stone and Brenda were just

leaving.

Brenda: Okay, his medication is on that table. I gave him some about an

hour ago, so he should be okay for a while. You may have to change his

bandage later.

Luke: Yes nurse Barrett!

Brenda gives him a dirty look.

Sonny: She doesn't like to be called that.

Stone: I'll be back soon.

Sonny: Take the Jag. Make sure that Brenda has everything that she needs

to be comfortable.

Brenda, do not go through my drawers, you will not like what you find.

The rest of the place is all yours.

Brenda: Thank you Sonny.

Sonny: See ya tomorrow Brenda?

Brenda: Maybe, we'll see. Goodnight Sonny.

Brenda and Stone leave and Luke bursts out laughing.

Sonny: What is so funny?

Luke: You are, she has got you wrapped around her finger so tightly that

you're turning blue.

Sonny: *Smiling* Yeah, isn't great?

Luke: So, what happened here tonight?

Sonny: I have no idea. Two guys showed up and told me their boss was not

happy that I had gotten a new job.

Luke: Then they shot you?

Sonny: Yeah, but I think that they just wanted to scare me, not kill me.

I jumped them and the gun went off.

Luke: What makes you think that they just wanted to scare you?

Sonny: That's what I heard one of them say as they ran off.

Luke: So who wants to scare you and why.

Sonny: The why is easy. Who ever sent those guys wants me to step down

from my new position as Frank's second in command. The real question is

who wants my job?

Luke: And what are they willing to do to get it away from you?

Sonny: Luke, it's not you is it?

Luke: I gave that up long ago my friend.

Sonny: I had to ask.

Luke: I understand. Good thing that Brenda came along when she did or

you would be dead.

Sonny: Yeah, and I don't think it was just luck either. There is this

connection between us.

Luke: Are you in love with the beautiful Miss Barrett?

Sonny: Can you keep a secret?

Luke: That is my middle name.

Sonny: I'm so in love with her I can hardly see straight when we are in

the same room.

Luke: Does she feel the same way about you?

Sonny: I don't know. I'm not even sure that she knows how she feels. She

told me she loved me tonight before the doctor got here and then she

wouldn't talk about it later.

Luke: Women, you can't live with them and you can't drop them off the

dock.

Sonny: Well, I don't know about that observation. However, what I do

know is that a beautiful woman that I'm in love with is sleeping in my

apartment alone, and I'm stuck here with you. Somebody is going to pay

for this inconvenience.

Stone took Brenda to the apartment and then called somebody on the phone

to keep watch outside while he went back to relieve Luke. Brenda has

just stepped out of the shower and is wrapped in a towel. She is tempted

to look through Sonny's drawers to find something to sleep in, but he

asked her not to and she is willing to respect his wishes. She sees one

of his shirts draped over a chair and picks it up. It smells like his

cologne. She slips it on and lets the towel fall to the floor. She does

not feel conformable with the idea sleeping in his bed, without him that

is, so she goes over to the couch. Stone has piled some pillows and

blankets at the end of the couch. She walks over to the stereo and turns

it on. Then she pick up a blanket and lies down on the couch thinking of

Sonny. The song, "Crazy Love" starts to play.

Chapter 19

It is the next morning and Stone and Sonny have gone back to the

apartment at Sonny's insistence. He figured that he would be more

comfortable and a lot safer there than at the lookout tower. Sonny was

also worried about Brenda, both physically and emotional. He was worried

that whoever had set him up would come after her and he was also worried

that everything that happened last night might have really scared

Brenda. He was afraid that after last night she might not want to have

anything to do with him. Stone is helping Sonny up the stairs to the

apartment.

Stone: Sonny, I really don't think that moving you was such a great

idea.

Sonny: I need to check on Brenda and make sure she is okay.

Stone: There were guys watching the apartment all night. There is no

place that she would have been safer.

Sonny: I'm not just concerned about her physically, I want to know how

last night affected her emotionally.

Stone: Sonny you were shot last night!

Sonny: I know that. Ouch! Could you be a little easier with me!

Stone: I'm trying, but it isn't easy carrying you up these stairs.

Sonny: You know, you don't have to remind me that I was shot last night.

When they finally get into the apartment they find Brenda asleep on the

couch with the blanket pulled tightly up around her neck.

Stone: See, she is fine.

Sonny: She looks so beautiful and peaceful when she sleeps. Will you

help me into the bedroom?

Stone helps Sonny to get settled in the bed.

Stone: Do you want the bodyguards to stay.

Sonny: No, I don't think we'll need them. I'm not really comfortable

with somebody watching my every move.

Stone: What should I tell them.

Sonny: Tell them that they can go home now. Thank them for doing such a

good job last night of protecting something that is important to me.

Stone: You mean our CD collection, right?

Sonny: Yeah right our CD collection! And Stone, take your time make sure

you wake Brenda on the way out.

Stone: Sure, how much time do you need?

Sonny: Give me about an hour.

Stone: An hour! Sonny I know you don't need me to remind you, but You

Were Shot Last Night!

Sonny: I just want to talk to her and make sure she is all right.

Stone: Yeah right! See you in an hour Sonny.

Stone goes out to the living room and wakes Brenda

Brenda: Hi Stone, how is Sonny doing?

Stone: You can find out for yourself, he's in the bedroom.

Brenda: Should he have been moved?

Stone: Probably not, but he was getting restless and I think he wanted

to check on you.

Brenda: Where are you going?

Stone: Sonny wants me to send the guards home, I'll be right back.

Brenda: I'll go check on him.

She walks into the bed room and is standing in the door. She is still

wearing his shirt and when he looks at her his eyes almost fall out of

his head.

Sonny: Wow!

Brenda: What?

Sonny: How come my shirts never look that good on me?

Brenda: Yes they do. You have great taste in clothes.

Sonny: Why don't you come a little closer so I can check this out.

Brenda: Said the spider to the fly? I don't think so Sonny.

Sonny: Why not?

Brenda: For one thing, It looks like your temperature is rising and I

wouldn't want you to over heat.

Sonny: Brenda, you make my temperature rise by just being in the same

room with me.

Brenda: Precisely my point. I'm going to go shower and to answer your

next question, no you may not join me!

Sonny: Why not?

Brenda: For one thing, Stone will be back any minute and you are not

supposed to get your bandages wet.

Sonny: Are those the only two reasons?

Brenda: What are you asking?

Sonny: How do you feel about last night. Do you still think I'm too

dangerous?

Brenda: I'm still here aren't I?

Sonny: Yes, but for how long? Weren't you scared last night?

Brenda: Yeah, I was scared when I thought you might die and I was scared

when the doctor wouldn't help you and Cusack was yelling at him, but

through most of it I found this strength that pulled me through.

Sonny: You are amazing! Has anyone ever told you that?

Brenda: Not really.

Sonny: You are. Imagine how amazing we could be together.

Brenda: Sonny are you trying to seduce me with flattery?

Sonny: No, of course not!

Brenda: Sonny, you were shot last night!

Sonny: Why does everybody feel the need to remind me of that. Brenda,

are you saying you don't want me?

Brenda: I think we both know the answer to that question.

Sonny: Then what are we waiting for? I was only shot in my shoulder, not

anywhere important!

Brenda: Sonny! I'm going to go take my shower, then I'll check your

bandages.

Sonny: Hurry back!

The door to the bathroom closes and he adds.

Sonny: We only have an hour.

Chapter 20

Brenda had finished showering in record time and was wrapped in a towel.

She reached for her dress and then she noticed that she had left her

dress draped over the chair in the bedroom. She had two choices, either

she had to put back on Sonny's shirt or go out and parade in front of

him only wearing a towel. She felt that both of those options were out

of the question. She did not want to tease Sonny unnecessarily. She

wanted him more than she had ever wanted anyone or anything in her

entire life and she knew that he wanted her as well. But, something told

her that she needed to wait, at least until he had recovered from the

shooting. Plus, she was not sure how he really felt about her, maybe she

was still just a toy to him, a young sexy plaything. Brenda knew that

once she made love with him there would be no turning back and no

walking away. She decided that she could not spend the rest of the day

in the bathroom. Stone should have been back by now, she would ask him

to hand her the dress.

Brenda: *Calling from the bathroom* Sonny!

Sonny: Yeah, did you change your mind about me joining you in the

shower?

Brenda: No! Is Stone back yet?

Sonny: No, why?

Brenda: I left my dress out there and I need someone to hand it to me.

Sonny: Sorry, I'm not supposed to move around. You'll have to come get

it yourself.

Brenda: Sonny, I'll only come out there if you promise to close your

eyes.

Sonny: Are you serious!

Brenda: Yes, I don't want you getting any ideas!

Sonny: Brenda, my imagination gives me more ideas than seeing you in a

towel ever could.

Brenda: I'm not responsible for your imagination Sonny!

Sonny: I disagree. You are the foundation of my imagination.

Brenda: Promise me you'll close your eyes.

Sonny: Okay, I promise!

Brenda: Okay, I'm coming out.

Brenda runs out of the bathroom, grabs her dress and then runs back and

closes the door.

Sonny can't figure her out. She tells him she wants him, but she doesn't

want to do anything about there mutual attraction. She tells him she

loves him, but later she refuses to talk about it. He wonders if she is

just playing with him. Maybe all he is to her is a dangerous boy toy

that can be used to shock her family. She already has his heart, but

maybe he gave it to her to freely. Maybe she doesn't feel the same way

about him that he feels about her. She comes out of the bathroom.

Brenda: Ready for me to check those bandages?

Sonny: Sure, but first we need to talk.

Brenda: About what?

Sonny: Us, where this relationship is headed and what we mean to each

other.

Chapter 21

Brenda: You want to talk about our relationship and what we mean to each

other?

Sonny: That's what I said.

Brenda: When you have something on your mind you don't beat around the

bush do you?

Sonny: That's how I live my life Brenda. Straight to the point.

Brenda: So what is the point to you and I?

Sonny: Well, up until last night I would say that it was more of a game

than anything else, but last night something changed.

Brenda: What would that be?

Sonny: I'm not really sure. At least it is not something that I can talk

about without pushing you.

Brenda: You mean about me saying that I love you.

Sonny: That is only part of it. That is more about you than it is me.

I'm not sure why you could say that last night and can't say it now.

Brenda: I just did.

Sonny: But I mean, say it and have it mean something.

Brenda: I'm not ready to make a commitment like that to you Sonny.

Sonny: I know that and I respect it. I'm not even sure that I want you

to make that kind of commitment, or if I'm ready to make that kind of

commitment to you.

Brenda: Thank you for not pressuring me.

Sonny: What I do know is that you are a desirable woman and I want you.

The thing is that usually when I want something, I move in and grab it,

boom! And when it is all used up, I move on.

Brenda: Disposable love life?

Sonny: Yeah, it's convenient.

Brenda: So, why haven't you done that with me?

Sonny: Not sure, just when I think that I can't wait anymore and I want

to grab you and make passionate love with you, then you say that we need

to wait, suddenly I can wait.

Brenda: Doesn't make much sense does it?

S No, so what do we do now?

Brenda: What we're doing is going too badly. I say we keep it up and see

where it takes us. Now, let me take a look at those bandages.

Sonny: Stone changed them.

Brenda: I can tell. Did he do it in the pitch dark? I don't think he

could have gotten them any less straight if he had tried.

She untapped the bandages from his wounds. Her hands on his chest make

him tingle all over. He takes her hand and starts to kiss it.

Brenda: Sonny, Stop that! I'm trying to work here.

Sonny: So am I.

Brenda: Sonny, haven't you listened to anything I've been saying here?

Sonny: Yes I've heard everything that you have said, but does taking

things slow mean I can't kiss you? Because if it does, you should just

have left me on that mountain side. Because the day I can't kiss a

beautiful girl is the day that I'd just as soon stop breathing.

Brenda: You don't have to be so drastic. Kissing is fine. In fact I like

kissing a lot.

She finishes changing the bandages and then bends down and gently kisses

him and then she pulls away.

Brenda: Shouldn't Stone be back by now?

Sonny: He'll show up sooner of later.

She realizes what is going on.

Brenda: Sonny, how long did you tell Stone to stay gone anyway?

Sonny: You are one smart lady Brenda, I told him to give us an hour.

Brenda: Did you really think that you could seduce me in an hour!

Sonny: Can't blame a guy for trying.

Brenda: Maybe I should have left you on that mountain side! You can be

infuriating sometimes!

The front door to the apartment opens.

Brenda: Is that Stone?

Sonny: It had better be.

Stone comes into the bedroom.

Stone: Hope I'm not interrupting anything.

Sonny: *Sounding disappointed* Your not.

Stone: Brenda, I went to check on your car.

Brenda: And?

Stone: It should be ready the middle of next week.

Brenda: Great! Sonny, your paying for it.

Sonny: Of course, unless I can find those guys that shot me. Then I'll

take it out of their hides.

Stone: What are we doing for breakfast?

Sonny: I can't cook from this bed.

Brenda: I can't cook at all.

Stone: I can make eggs ALA Stone!

Sonny: You just think you can! Go to Kelly's.

Brenda: No way, I want to eat before noon. I'll go to Kelly's

Brenda leaves to go to Kelly's and pick up breakfast. She runs into

Robin on the way.

Brenda: Great my alibi has arrived. You can go with me to Kelly's it

will look more natural.

Robin: Exactly why do you need an alibi Brenda. Why did you run out

before the wedding, where did you go?

Brenda: It's kind of hard to explain. I found Sonny Corinthos bleeding

to death on the side of a mountain and saved his life and I also told

him that I love him.

Robin is completely shocked.

Chapter 22

Robin: How did Sonny react when you told him you loved him?

Brenda: Well, he was mostly unconscious at the time. But we talked about

it later.

Robin: And?

Brenda: I think that we both realize that I said it mainly because I

thought that he was dying.

Robin: Was it true though? Are you in love with Sonny Corinthos?

Brenda is silent for a while.

Robin: Oh My Gosh! You are in love with him!

Brenda: Yes I am.

Robin: Brenda how could you let this happen!

Brenda: You don't really choose the person you fall in love with. It

just kind of happens.

Robin: But, every one told you he was dangerous and yet you continued to

get close to him. You had a choice.

Brenda: Robin, who were you with last night? *Brenda was talking a guess

that it was Stone.*

Robin: Stone, he stopped by the house after he took you to Sonny's

apartment.

Brenda: Where was Mac?

Robin: The Outback.

Brenda: And if Mac had been home, would Stone have been welcome?

Robin: Probably not. It's not the same though, uncle Mac doesn't know

Stone the way I do.

Brenda: It's exactly the same. You don't know Sonny the way I do. Mac

sees Stone the same way you see Sonny.

Robin: I guess Sonny is kind of cute in a brooding sort of way.

Brenda: Sonny is beyond cute. He is drop dead gorgeous! And he is so

kind and sweet. But what really makes him sexy is the way that he

respects me. He thinks that I am capable and smart and he tells me so.

Robin: You are capable and smart Brenda. I'll make you a deal, I won't

judge Sonny before I get to know him if you promise not to tell Uncle

Mac that Stone was up in my room last night.

Brenda: Stone was in your room last night?!

Robin: Nothing happened. Luke Spencer called him and he left. I guess to

go take care of Sonny.

Brenda: Robin, do we need to have a talk?

Robin: No, I already had one with Felicia and between her and the Public

School system, I think I have it covered.

Brenda: Just make sure it stays that way!

Robin: Brenda you are embarrassing me!

Brenda: I don't mean to, but sweetie, I just want to make sure that you

stay safe. Have you and Stone talked?

Robin: A little, but it is not the easiest subject to discuss.

Brenda: I know but it is important. If you don't feel comfortable

talking about it with someone. You probably are not ready to do it with

them.

Robin: Brenda, Please!

Brenda: Okay, enough said, the subject is closed.

Robin: Thank you!

Brenda: Did you really mean what you said about getting to know Sonny

better.

Robin: I guess so, if he is going to be a part of your life.

Brenda: Good, lets grab breakfast and we can both go back to his

apartment and you can get started.

Robin: Me and my big mouth!

Brenda: I guarantee that once you get to know Sonny, you're going to

love him!

Robin: Me love Sonny Corinthos? That will be the day!

They go into Kelly's and order four breakfasts to go. Ruby is a little

suspicious, but she doesn't say anything because Brenda is with Robin.

As they are walking back to the apartment Brenda calls ahead to let

Sonny know that she is bringing Robin.

Brenda: Hi, it's me.

Sonny: I would know your gorgeous voice anywhere. Did you get breakfast?

Brenda: Yes, no problems.

Sonny: I thought maybe Ruby would refuse to serve you or something.

Brenda: I didn't tell her who the food is for.

Sonny: Smart girl!

Brenda: You keep saying that I'm smart!

Sonny: That's because I believe that you are. Why do I get the feeling

that you don't?

Brenda: I'm starting to.

Sonny: That's my girl. So are you coming back soon?

Brenda: Why do you miss me?

Sonny: Always when your not here. Plus, Stone and I are about to eat

each other, we are so hungry.

Brenda: Yuck! Not a pleasant idea. I'm on my way back and I'm bringing

Robin, so make yourselves presentable

Sonny: You got it babe! See ya soon.

She hangs up the phone.

Brenda: Come on Robin, our guys are starving!

Robin: Brenda, I'm not sure this is such a good idea! If Uncle Mac were

to find out that I was at Sonny Corinthos apartment he would flip!

Brenda: He won't find out. We're just having breakfast, we're not going

to rob a bank!

They head for the apartment.

Chapter 23

The breakfast at Sonny's had gone really well. Sonny had been charming

with Robin and Brenda could see her best friends attitude toward Sonny

warming up. Robin had to admit that Sonny was very charming and he had

been sweet with Brenda, but Robin could not bring herself to trust him

completely. Still, he and Brenda had become major cheerleaders for her

and Stone and for that she was grateful. It had been about a week since

Brenda had last seen or checked on Sonny. She had been busy all week

going over plans for the record company her and Lois were starting and

approving for the Deception spring campaign. Sonny had left several

messages for her, she just hadn't found the time to call him back. Her

phone rings, she picks it up. It is Sonny.

Brenda: Hello?

Sonny: Brenda is that you?

Brenda: I thought you said that you would know my voice anywhere!

Sonny: No, I said that I would know your gorgeous voice anywhere! But I

have gotten used to talking to your answering machine or leaving

messages with Reggie. You are one hard women to get a hold of.

Brenda: I'm sorry. I have been very busy. I haven't been ignoring you on

purpose. How are you feeling.

Sonny: Almost as good as new. I'm a fast healer. I actually called to

let you know your car is ready.

Brenda: Fantastic, where is it?

Sonny: I have it here. You can come by this evening and pick it up. I'll

even cook you dinner.

Brenda: You cooking? You must be feeling better. How about if I come by

about 6:00?

Sonny: Sounds good. Do you have a way to get over here or do you want me

to send the limo?

Brenda: The limo would be nice.

Sonny: Okay, see you then.

The limo drops Brenda outside of the apartment and the driver walks her

to the door. She notices two other guys watching the apartment. The door

opens and Sonny is standing there with the key to her car.

Sonny: Your car's in the garage, why don't you go check it out while I

pour us some wine.

Brenda: Okay, but who are those two guys watching the apartment.

Sonny: Their names are Pete and Joseph. They are same guys that kept

watch the night I was shot. They did such a good job, I decided to hire

them, at least until I find out who was behind my shooting.

Brenda: Okay, if you think that they are important.

Sonny: Go on and check on your car, you'll be all right walking to the

garage.

Brenda: I'll be right back.

In a few minutes she comes back.

Sonny: So, how is the car?

Brenda: Perfect! Thank you so much.

Sonny: You're welcome Brenda. I hope you are hungry because a made my

famous pasta with clam sauce.

Brenda: Actually, I'm not all that hungry. In fact, I was thinking that

there is something I would rather be doing.

Sonny: And that would be?

Brenda: Why don't you come over here and I'll give you a hint.

He walks over to where she is sitting on the couch and sits beside her.

She reaches up and touches his face and then kisses him. At first they

kiss softly, exploring each others mouths. Then their kissing becomes

harder and quicker. Brenda pulls away from Sonny's mouth.

Brenda: Make love to me Sonny.

Sonny: Are you sure?

Brenda: I've never been more sure.

She starts to kiss him again. He kisses her neck and shoulders. She

starts to unbutton his shirt.

Sonny: Wait Brenda.

Brenda: No, we've waited long enough. I don't want any more.

She starts to kiss him again, but he stops her.

Sonny: But I do.

Chapter 24

Brenda gives Sonny a puzzled look. He takes her hands and leads her to

the couch. They both sit down.

Brenda: I don't understand. I ask you to make love to me and you tell me

you want to wait?

Sonny: That's right.

Brenda: I thought you wanted this is much as I do. Has something changed

between tonight and the last time we told each other that we wanted to

be together?

Sonny: Yes and no. I still want you more than words can express. When I

told you that just being in the same room with you made my temperature

rise, that was and still is the truth. I mean, Brenda I have your blood

running through my veins. Even when we are apart, I can still feel you.

Brenda: I know what you mean. This week, when I didn't talk to you, I

still knew what how you were doing.

Sonny: Brenda every time that I see you, I have to stop myself from

grabbing you and making love to you.

Brenda: Why stop yourself Sonny, I'm here and I'm willing. *She reaches

up to caress his face.*

Sonny: I know you are, but there is something that I have to say first.

I used to think that I had life pretty good. I thought I was happy, but

then I met you and I suddenly understood what it really means to be

happy. Because, Brenda you really make me happy and I don't want to lose

you.

Brenda: You won't ever lose me.

Sonny: Brenda, I Love You!

Brenda: You do?

Sonny: Yes, I do. I have from the moment I first saw you.

Brenda: I love you too. I mean it.

Sonny: I mean it too, and there is nothing that I want more in this

moment than to make love to you, but I wanted you to know that I love

you first.

He takes her face in his hands and kisses her passionately. He unzips

her dress and lets it slide to the floor. He kisses her neck and

shoulders and then her mouth again. She unbuttons his shirt and slides

it off of his chest and shoulders and proceeds to kiss them. She runs

her hands through his hair and then down his back. He picks her up and

carries her to the bed room, they continue kissing as he gently places

her on the bed. They explore every inch of each others bodies, feeling

things for each other that they have never felt with any other person.

They make love for hours and then fall asleep in each others arms. The

next morning they wake up in each others arms. Sonny smiles at Brenda

and she gently kisses him and smiles at him.

Brenda: Good morning.

Sonny: Good morning, you are so beautiful to me.

Brenda: I could get used to hearing that in the morning.

Sonny: I could get used to waking up with you in my arms.

Brenda: You are amazing. Has anyone ever told you that?

Sonny: Your the only one that matters, but actually I think that the

truth is that we are amazing together!

Brenda: I always knew that we would make a great team. Was it worth the

wait?

Sonny: What wait? Last night we made time stand still. There was no past

and no future, just you and me in that moment. Brenda, I never felt

before the way I felt last night.

Brenda: I know what you mean, it was beyond amazing, I love you Sonny

Corinthos!

Sonny: And I love you Brenda Barrett. Are you happy Brenda?

Brenda: I never knew I could be this happy. I never want it to end.

Sonny: It won't.

Suddenly there is a violent knock on the outside door of the apartment.

Brenda: What was that?

Sonny: I don't know!

Brenda: The guys are still watching the door right?

Sonny: They should be. I had better go check.

He gets up and puts on his robe and opens the door. Pete and Joseph are

out side the door and they are holding back several police officers,

including officer Rick Johnson and Detective Alex Gracia.

Sonny: What's going on here?

G: If you'll call of these goons, I'll tell you.

Sonny nods to Joseph and Peat to back off. They let Garcia and his men

go.

Sonny: Let them go boys.

Jason Sure boss.

G: Michael Corinthos Jr. I have a warrant for your arrest.

Sonny: On what charges?

G: You are wanted in connection to the death of two Federal Agents

Brenda has just walked out of the bed room after quickly putting on her

clothes. She is just in time to hear the last part.

Brenda: What are you talking about, Garcia?

G: Brenda, this doesn't concern you. We are taking Mr. Corinthos in for

questioning in connection with the murder of two FBI agents. Lets go

Corinthos!

Sonny: Can I at least get dressed?

G: You have 5 minutes!

Sonny: *To Brenda* Call Luke Spencer!

Brenda: Okay, but I'm going with you.

Sonny: Brenda, you don't have to, I'll be fine.

Brenda: I want to go with you.

G: Corinthos, your wasting time! You now have 3 minutes!

Sonny goes to get dressed. Brenda goes to call Luke and at the same time

is giving Garcia and his men dirty looks.
