.Chapter.One.

"Come on Mick, cheer up a bit would ya. Aren't you at all excited about the concert tonight?"

"Yeah Laura, I'm excited. Don't worry we're going to have fun tonight." Mickey's heart wasn't much into going to a concert tonight. She and her boyfriend, Matthew, of two years had just broken up a few days ago. Mickey loved the Backstreet Boys and she was glad she was going but she just wished she could be more excited.

She looked at her friends Laura and Jenn, both of whom were eighteen years old, excitedly chat away about the events about to come that evening. She had won four tickets and backstage passes to the Backstreet Boys concert. Joining her for the concert was Jenn, Laura and Tracee. Three of her bestfriends in the world. They had been great the past couple of days helping her cope with the break up. It wasn't a bad break up and it wasn't anyone's fault, it just turned out to be one of those things. She loved Matthew and she knew she always would. But hey she was going to see and meet the Backstreet Boys that night! She could put Matthew out of her mind for a while!

Mickey could hear someone trying to open the locked front door to the house. "Jenn can you get that? It's probably Tracee and I'm gonna go get ready for the concert."

Jenn looked at her friend worriedly and then looked over to Laura who just gave a quizzical shrug. Jenn then walked over and opened the door and was almost knocked down in the process.

"Hey Tracee! What are you all in a huff about?" Asked Laura in a half laugh. She was looking over at Jenn who was a little taken aback from the grand enterance.

"Where's Mickey at?!" Tracee demanded.

"She's in her room." Jenn offered, "But I'd go in that door a little less violently, she's able to knock you out, no questions asked."

"Mickey..." Tracee called as she went upstairs to Mickey's bedroom.

"What is it Trace?" Mickey questioned.

"Can you believe it?!"

"Believe what?"

"Uh hello! We are meeting thee finest guys in the world tonight!!!" Mickey laughed. Tracee tended to over react to some situations. Her and Tracee were two years older then the other two girls, although she sometimes questioned Tracee's age. Tracee always made people laugh. Oh and the things the two of them talked about! They were partners in crime. Tracee wasn't afraid of anything. The word embarrassing didn't seem to be in her vocabulary. She should get into acting. She definately had it in her! She wished she looked like Neve Cambell, someone she often compared Mickey too. The thing is Tracee looked more like Brandy. Mickey loved Tracee's dark skin and big brown eyes. Tracee had a smile that could make everyone else in the room smile, no matter how determined they were not to. Mickey had to laugh to herself.

"What?" Tracee insisted.

"Oh nothing. Yes I realize that we are meeting the finest guys tonight." Said Mickey, coming back to reality. "I'm just looking for something to wear."

"Track pants..." The said in unision. Mickey wasn't one for a great selection of clothes. She had a lot of clothes but it was mainly the same type: track pants, jerseys, tank tops, jeans, sweatshirts and a lot of jackets. Jackets were her 'thing'.

"I was thinking of my navy track pants with the stripes down the sides and a white tank top."

"All of your stuff is Adidas though, you know the guys mainly wear Nike stuff."

"Tracee, I don't care. I don't think they're gonna snub their noses at us because I'm wearing Adidas."

"I suppose..." Tracee said realizing that it did sound a little ridiculous.

"I'm not gonna look slutty am I?" Mickey asked Tracee as she looked in the full length mirror.

By now Laura and Jenn had made their way into the bedroom and looked at Mickey like she was crazy. Mickey still didn't like it when guys looked at her, and she usually let them know that. Most of the guys they knew were either scared of her or treated her like one of the guys. She was by no means a tomboy but she was tough and some people just didn't know how to react to her because they were unsure of what her reaction would be. She had long brown hair and blue eyes that just seemed to sparkle. Her aunt called her blueberry eyes because her eyes were almost purple. The combination of hair and eyes looked good on her 5'9" athletic frame. She wasn't glamourous nor was she ugly. She was just Mickey.

"Ah Mick, there are going to be a lot of people there wearing a lot less then what you are." Jenn said trying to reasure her friend who was more like a sister.

Jenn was always at Mickey's place. Her parents were always on her case about something. Her parents were just cranky people and Mickey hated having to deal with them so she rarely called or dropped by Jenn's anymore. To them she was a bad influence on Jenn because she was older and she lived on her own. Mind you that wasn't because she chose to. Her parents had died three years ago and she didn't want to sell the house that they had built. She couldn't bring herself to do it. Jenn was mischeivious and naive all in one. She just wanted to live life but she didn't want to be stupid doing so. She had no problem getting a guy with her shoulder length dirty blonde hair and her 5'7" build. She just didn't like keeping the guys for long. She wasn't ready for sex but she also wasn't ready to admit it so she would break up with guys and shrug it off for some dumb excuse. Then she would try to convince people that he wasn't right for some reason or another. The only person she was really trying to convince however, was herself.

"I know but I don't want to be one of those people. God look at how much we make fun of them and stuff. I don't want someone saying that stuff about us." Mickey exclaimed.

"We only make fun of the young ones half dressed and the older ones who are prettier then us." Said Tracee jokingly.

"Yeah and that pretty much well takes care of everyone at the concert." Mickey joked back.

"Just get ready." Tracee said getting impatient now.

"Ok well everyone get outta my room so I can get dressed." Said Mickey shooing everyone out of her room.

"Mickey?" Laura quietly said as everyone the other two were leaving.

"Yeah?"

"I just wanted to make sure that you were ok. With the Matthew thing and all."

"Yeah I'm alright Laura. Don't worry I won't ruin your evening tonight." "Oh I wasn't worried about that. I just worry about you. I know that you still love him and I also know that you won't let your feelings show."

Mickey was glad to see that someone cared so much. She knew the others did as well. Tracee usually just waited for Mickey to go to her and Jenn just had no idea what to say to her so she didn't say anything for fear it would be the wrong thing. Mickey often forgot that Laura was younger then her. Physically she looked her age at 5'6" and with long brown hair and big green eyes. She was the mothering type to Mickey though. Which was a little weird cause Mickey was the mother figure to everyone else it seemed. Laura had told her once though that even mothers need mothers.

"Seriously, I'm ok. Thanks though for asking. I'm starting to get excited now!" She wasn't lying when she said this. The thought of the crowd and then the Boys popping up from the stage. This was her fourth Backstreet Boys concert. The rining phone brought her back into reality.

"Hello?" Mickey answered.

"Hey Mick!" Returned the friendly voice of one of her best pals Frankie. "Just calling to see if you guys are ready for the big night."

"You know it! I don't know what time we'll get out of ther so I'm not sure if we're going to meet up with everyone later."

"That's ok I suppose. If I don't see you tonight then just call me tomorrow."

"Alright then Frankie."

"Oh and I think Matthew is jealous. He's afraid of how you'll feel when you meet Nick." Even though Frankie was good friends with her and Matthew he always managed to stay nuetral. He had known Mickey longer but Matthew was one of his boys. Everyone teased him of looking like Nick and acting like him too. He insisted that he looked nothing like Nick and that he was fat and not muscular. Personaly, Mickey thought that he enjoyed it because he knew that Nick was more popular then the other four members and he liked being compared to someone like that.

"I don't think Matthew has anything to worry about Frankie."

"I'll catch ya later Mick. Have fun but not too much and don't get into any fights."

"Alright then I'll see ya later." And with that Mickey hung up the phone and started heading towards downstairs.

Frankie was refering to the last BSB concert she attended. She almost got into a few scraps. That would look good, this crazy psycho going and beating up little kids at a concert. They weren't the young ones though and in Mickey's mind they deserved it. She was good though and nothing got physical. When she got to the main floor she walked in on the other girls talking about their favorite Backstreet Boys. Laura liked Howie, Jenn liked AJ and Tracee liked Nick. She and Tracee would often joke about sharing Nick and when Mikey wasn't with Nick she would be with Brian. It might sound juvenile but they were in no hurry to group up!

"Well let's go. We have to meet the radio dj before we go in." Mickey said as she was handing her money and stuff to Laura. Mickey didn't carry a purse and she was afraid her money would fall out of her pockets. The four girls bounced their way out of the house and out to the black Chevy Blazer parked in the driveway.
