Celine was born March 30, 1968 in a small towm in Canada. She is the youngest of 14 children. She was discovered by Rene Angelil (who in 1994 became her husband) at age 12. Angelil signed her on his contract, and morgaged his house to pay for Celine's first 2 albums. Celine was very successful as a french artist in Canada. At age 18, she went to school to learn english, and in 1990, she released her first English album "Unison." Her first single off the album "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" is the song that made Celine Dion famous in the US.
In 1992, she released her second english album "Celine Dion." This album includes the song that made "Celine Dion" a house hold name. She along with Peabo Bryson sang the theme for Beauty & The Beast. The song won an oscar for best song. The album also includes her mega hit "If You Asked Me To."
Celine's third english album "The Colour of My Love" was released in 1994. This album includes her #1 billboard song The Power of Love. It also includes the hits Misled, Think Twice, Only One Road, and When I Fall In Love w/Clyde Griffin from Sleepless in Seattle.
In December 1994, Celine married her manager/lover Rene Angelil, despite the fact that she was 26 and he was 52!
Celine released her 4th english album "Falling Into You" in 1996. This was her most selling album. Since 1998, the album has sold almost 40 million coppies around the world. The album includes her mega smash Because You Loved Me from Up Close & Personal. The song knocked Mariah Carey's One Sweet Day out of the #1 spot on billboard singles after her record 16 week run. The album reached #1 on billboard after Celine released It's All Coming Back To Me Now. The song reached #2 on billboard. The album also includes international hits Falling Into You, All By Myself, and Call The Man. Celine won 2 grammies for Falling Into You. She won best pop album, and album of the year. That same year, she won 3 world music awards. Most selling Canadian artist, most selling pop artist, and artist of the year.
On November 18, 1997 Celine released her 5th english album "Let's Talk About Love." The album debuted at #2 on the billboard chart, and eventually reached #1. This album features collaborations with many artists like Beegees, Diana King, Brownstone, Barbra Streisand, and Bryan Adams. This album includes the song that everbody around the world has heard (or they've been living in space the past year *S*) My Heart Will Go On from the Titanic movie. The song debuted at #1 and stayed their for 2 weeks on billboard. The album also includes the hits The Reason, Immortality, Tell Him, and To Love You More.
