Boyd's Birthday

Boyd's Birthday

When I first arrived at Becky's house, Boyd told us a joke: "Why did the chicken cross the playground? To get to the other slide!"

Speaking of chickens, when I heard some peeping, I asked Boyd to show me where the "chips" are, so he took me into Mom's bathroom to show me. Boyd then explained to me how the mama chicken "poops out the eggs."

Then it was finally time to start opening presents. He was so excited to get started, that he had a hard time waiting for everybody to get in the room. When Bishy would say, "wait!" he'd snap back at her, "It's my birthday! I can do whatever I want!" Ah, yes, Bishy has taught him well!!!!

Here are some pictures I took of Boyd's birthday.

In this first present-opening-shot, he's opening a book from Out Laurie and Uncle Eric called "I love you, Grandpa." When Dave and Guy Dee thought that was a strange book title coming from them, Becky explained that we need to look at the cover, where there are pictures of grizzly bears. Aahhhh, now we get it!

When he'd pick up a package, his mom would say, "that's from me and Dad" or "that's from Grandma and Grandpa," and Boyd would look at her and say, "how'd you know, Mom?" as if she was magic or something.

In the next picture, he's opening one of the Geo Trax boxes. Boy, that sure turned out to be a huge hit!

Earlier in the day, Becky asked Boyd, "How old are you today?" He shouted, "Fifteen!" She held up four fingers and said, "Noooo ... how many are you?" And he shouted, "Five!" (hahahaha) So she said, "nooooo ... here, count my fingers." So he went, "One, two, three, Four!" (Yay!!!)

Boyd is pulling the things out of the gift bag that Out Laurie and Uncle Eric sent. Here he's looking at the "hissee fit" snake lollipop.
Out Laurie sent a CD of silly songs they had been singing in the car. After he realized what it was, you can see how happy it made him!!!

Then he pulled out the pencils and admired them. And look! It's a squishy bee! "See? You squish it like this!" he told us.

Besides the Geo Trax set from Grandma and Grandpa, he got some other vehicles; a garbage truck and police car, and a tow truck from Ellie and Guy Dee.

"See, you squish it like this!"
the tow truck has a lot of levers and buttons to push

One of the things Becky got for him were these big giant Hulk Hands, that make sounds when you punch them (e.g., "don't make me angry! you wouldn't like me when I'm angry!") When Boyd opened it, he backed away in a hurry and said, "I don't like it!" But when Becky demonstrated what they do, he came over and started hitting the hands. And hitting them. Over and over. It turned out to be one of the things he liked most.

Boyd "doesn't like" his new Hulk Hands

Grandma and Grandpa gave Boyd a little "Luigi" figure. Boy was that a huge hit! (The boys kept fighting over it.) And he got a little Matchbox cup-toy thingy for playing in the car. Dwight gave Boyd a little dinosaur bank that used to belong to him. (Hmmm ... I wonder if Aunt Diane gave him that idea?) Then Boyd opened the "Tag Tails" game with four animal "tails." Bishy explained it to him (she sure liked it).

Bishy demonstrates how to wear a zebra tail.
Then she helps Boyd put on the lion tail.

Boyd would keep going back to those Hulk Hands and pounding on them.

Here's a picture of Boyd with his Hulk Hands. On the coffee table below, you can see "Hissee Fit" that Out Laurie and Uncle Eric gave him. Supposedly it's an all-day sucker that won't make his hands sticky. Um hmm. We'll see about that!! Also on that table is the Brats coloring book that Becky said kept Bishy busy all day long. She had nearly finished the entire thing!

I.D. said, "let me see that hand!" and Boyd (very reluctantly) let Guy Dee try it
Then the "zebra" fell down from exhaustion, and "Hulk" went over there to beat her up

And here's the Pirate Ship play set that Out Laurie and Uncle Eric gave him. Boyd brought it over so Guy Dee could open it for him, and he could start playing with it

Dwight liked the Pirate ship set too

Meanwhile, Dwight was extremely content to play with Luigi while Boyd wasn't paying attention.

Here's a picture of Becky putting the finishing touches on Boyd's dirt cake. (I couldn't resist trying some of it myself, and boy was it delicious!!)

...finishing touches
the beautiful dirt cake!
You can see how much Boyd admired it

Here he eats one of the worms out of the "dirt." (He's clutching his new Luigi in the other hand.)

But after eating the worm, he wasn't interesting in eating any cake, he wanted to get down and play! So it was right back to the new pirate set from Out Laurie and Uncle Eric.

Boyd loves that little Luigi!! When he had Luigi in the little Geo Trax police car, he said, "Mom! Mom! Look, Mom! It's super spy Luigi, Mom, of a cop car!" (He likes to add "of" into his sentences. It's so cute!) When Boyd was distracted, Dwight would play with Luigi.

Dwight kept a pretty good grip on Luigi, and would put him in the police car (or fire truck) and Luigi would drive it around. Dwight would play peacefully like this - until Boyd would notice and demand that Luigi be given back.

There was also a big Geo Trax set from Grandma and Grandpa, and lots other Geo Trax things from Mom and Dad. All of the kids loved that stuff too.

Boyd thought the little people with the Geo Trax sets looked similar to another little people they have. "Look, Mom, it's a Rescue Hay-row!" (That's how he says "hero.")

Now Luigi is driving the garbage truck (see him there in Dwight's left hand?), and Boyd is busy with the fire station.

Then Boyd was back to his pirate set. So, that's it. I hope you enjoyed the show!!
