THE SON SHE LEFT FOR HIM

Time is so near....I hear a baby wanting to come into the world..." his smile could barely contain all the happiness his face beamed brightly. The warm breeze that softly touched his skin, increased his senses, and he knew all would be well. " My love....all will be well...whispers in the wind have told me..." he placed his hand on her tight, bulging belly to feel her body prepare to forge their creation. Looking to her, her face glowed in ambiance, and his pride beamed under glistening eyes. Her face shined as a true woman. The creature of creation. An essence that surpassed his own. Though her arms stiffened, and her hands tightly clamped onto the earth, the rest of her magnificent body was in ease. Her brows crossed together in joy, pain, and happiness. The petal soft cheeks, he so loved to feel were damask, and wet. Her beautiful mouth smiled in eagerness to hold the child  they created in love. Yet she bit her lower lip in fear he recognized. Roughly she turned her head sideways, and nestled it onto her shoulder. The movements of her belly were consistent, he knew only soon did they have to wait.

Looking into the green, fragrant plain, with tall blades that swayed in the wind, he was glad they moved from the sandy dunes of the Daw Lands. For they were cruel with heat, and desolate death could be seen in their floor. They had spent a day and night in the realm. During the day he pitched a tent, and made her rest while he kept her cool. They had plenty of rations, and she was comfortable. Raamel, their work animal, loved the movements of her stomach, it always rested it's head on the belly of it's master's love. The heat was kind that day, perhaps the gods smiled mercy to them. When the sun became pink, and violet, he awoke her to prepare for their journey to the comfort of the Verni Va Plains. They both shared laughter, as she struggled to rise. He knew the, her belly had dropped to make way for the child's birth. Laying her head down, she sprawled in defeat. Raamel bowed, offering it's strong neck. It's eye's simply said " Let me help"   Once she stood , he hugged her, and fought back tears for his love was never so strong as she stood in the final stage of bearing.

Traveling in the glowing  paths of the silvery sands, they both felt strangeness within the breeze. Nightfall had brought cool winds, to the sandy dune, tensing her muscles and enabling her body for the work ahead. Traveling peacefully under the moon, his limbs knew no weariness, and the gentle animal fell under no exhaustion as it carried master's love with devoted strides.  They both shared a common purpose to get her to safety.

Now looking down at her, he raised the delicate cloth, that covered her even more delicate skin. He kissed her stomach smiling. She raised her knees up tightly, and he looked back to her face. Tears trickled down, and he saw her struggling with pain. Smiling he poured words so comforting " You struggle...release your pain...containing it prolongs the birth....be not ashamed of screams, I shall hear them as beautiful announcements.."
He began to rub her hips lovingly, as he did the first time they shared so many nights ago. She smiled, and raised up supporting herself with her elbows. Throwing her head back, her graceful neck became dense. Slowly she began to moan. Gently singing unto the wind. But soon even that became as growls of a wolf, or great animal. Her spirit became as one with creatures of another place. They seemed to guide her strongly. He saw the thick blanket she laid upon flower with her blood. Rich crimson roses that soon enlarged into endless pools. His eyes witnessed amazement, as her stomach flattened under his touch. He saw a tiny mound crown into a head. Tender sprightly hands pulled out the delicate life. He was thankful, for never would he had yanked such a wonder. It fell out, balled up, and fighting to move. It's blue gray skin warmed in color the moment he held it. The delicate babe opened it's mouth to cry it's first breathe unto the world. Grabbing a stone, he severed the lifeline from mother to child.Taking off his shirt he wrapped his son inside and held him high.

Smiling he bent to kiss her. She became so pale, and flowing. She cried tears that puzzled him, for he not only didn't recognize them, but they stabbed pain into his heart as well. She gently fell back weak, and broken. Touching his shoulder, her eyes told him " I must see..."   He laid the crying infant on her chest so it faced her. Tears fell from her eyes like a winter's rain. One dropped onto the babe's cheek, and it blinked looking to her. Recognizing each other, they locked eyes together in a moment neither fate, heaven, nor hell could ever erase. She looked up to the sky in regret. Her eyes screamed " NOT NOW...NOT NOW.."   feeling the wind break, and become still, she looked to him. He became full of panic and heartache. Slowly she reached for him with her palm open. Touching his arm a single tear fell as she smiled for the last time. Gently she closed her eyes, and her hand fell to the earth.

A ball of anger, pain, and fear grew deep inside before he howled shaking the sky above him. Raamel managed to kneel to lay next to the lifeless body it so worshipped. Laying it's head on her stomach, it looked so lost. The wind began to blow again. He held the now glowing stone, and looked to the son she left for him.< br>
