I had recieved a letter at one point from a creationist. It was a plea to get schools to stop teaching evolution because they aren't allowed to teach creation. In this letter there were some very invalid points made about the scientific accuracies (which were inaccurate) in the Bible. The letter then took an interesting turn. It appeared that the creationist crusade had given up, and admitted defeat. It stopped arguing for the Bible to be taught in the school, but it took an odd turn, it claimed that evolution was a religion and it too should either be taken out of school or the Bible put in.

The reasoning involved in turning evolution into a religion is like this. The letter stated "Evolution has no proof, so it's a faith, which makes it a religion!".

I really love this quote. It is the greatest thing I have ever heard a creationist say. If I got this right, there is no proof of God. The creationists drew a target around their foot and opened both barrels. Boy, that's just too good.

Now the real problem with the statement is that Evolution is a theory, correct that it is not proven, but the difference between theory and faith is that a theory has a reason to be believed. It's the first step to finding out the truth on a subject. Faith, is the belief of something that has no signs of existing. So to say a scientific theory is a religious belief is just a good way to make yourself look really dumb.
