Ain't nothin but a heartache/ Ain't nothin but a mistake/ That's why/ I love it when I hear you say/ I want it that way/

Kyla walked into the YM studios in New York City. She had her portfolio under one shoulder and her bag on the other. She walked through the large glass doors and met with the stylists. Today was her first official photo shoot with other celebrities. And, yes, she was a bit nervous.

"Hi Kyla! I'm Suzy, I'll be doing your hair and make-up for today. The other girls already shot their spreads, so this should go quickly."

"Oh, but I thought their were like, five other people in the photo shoot with me."

"Well, for the final spread their will be a girl for each guy. You know, placed indivisually? Your going to be doing your shoot with him over their." She said while pointing to the back of a blonde head of hair.

"Oh, ok! Sorry, I'm sort of new at this." Kyla said while smiling.

Suzy only needed about fifteen minutes to do Kyla's make-up. She said she was naturally beautiful and didn't need much at all. Kyla stood tall at 5'10. She had long, thick, light brown hair, with big almond shaped brown eyes. Her skin was almost always tan because of the Florida sun. However, she flew four hours to make it to this photo shoot.

"Wow! You did an incredible job. Can I take you home with me? I could use your make-up knowledge everyday." Kyla said while admiring herself in the mirror.

"Oh, honey! I hardly did a thing. You should either thank your parents for blessing you with those georgeous genes, or thank yourself." Suzy said sweetly.

Kyla blushed at the compliment. She never took compliments well. Mainly because she never thought she deserved them and didn't quite understand why anyone would waste words on her.

"That is really nice of you to say. So, what will I be wearing?" Kyla asked.

Suzy rummaged through the rack of clothing. While Suzy was looking through the clothes, Kyla looked over at the blonde head of heair wondering who it was. She couldn't see his face because it was facing downwards. He looked to be playing some kind of hand held game.

"Here ya go! This is your outfit. Your only needing one because the other girls had one also. Go in their and try it on." Suzy instructed.

Kyla walked past the chair with the blonde mystery man in it. She couldn't see him eyeing her because she was way to interested in the tight form fitting dress she was just handed. She walked into the dressing room and put it on, careful not to smudge her make-up or mess her hair.

"No way! I am NOT going out in this. My breasts are overflowing in this. And my hour-glass is to much of a glass." Kyla said to herself.

"Kyla! Sweety, come on out." Suzy yelled.

Nick's eyes looked towards the dressing room door when he heard Suzy call her Kyla. He just thought that was a pretty cool name. Familiar too. He looked back down at his game and then heard the dressing room door open. He saw a leg come through the door and then a head pop out.

"Uh, suzy? I think their's a problem!" Kyla said.

"Come on out, let's see!"

Kyla walked out of the room and Nick non-chalantly looked over to her. He stared at her feet, which were in platform sandals. Then they followed every curve all the way up untill he reached her face. He raised an eyebrow and smiled.

"I think I'm missing a part to this dress!" Kyla said while shifting in it.

"Sweety, you look beautiful! You have a great figure! Very curvy! How old are you again?"

"17! Do you have something for me to cover this up with?" She said while covering her exposed cleavage with her hands.

Suzy shook her head 'no' and laughed.

Kyla sat in what looked like a director's chair with her legs crossed. She sat up straight, so her cleavage wouldn't pop out more. She sipped her bottled water through a straw, untill she heard the door open. Five very familiar guys walked in. All dressed in matching Armani suits. It was the Backstreet Boys.

"I don't get it! We get all fancy smancy in these suits and then they have us barefoot! Why? Why on earth do they do that? We've been doing promotional photo shoots since I was 14 and they always like us barefoot!" Nick said while laughing.

Kyla laughed at the comment that the blonde guy had made. She knew right away that it was Nick Carter. Well, she knew who all of the guys were. But, she especially remembered Nick. He looked completely the same as he did back when he was 14. However, she stayed back and didn't say a word. He was a big time star now. She didn't need to bother him with a game of 'Remember who I am?'

"They like us barefoot because the fans like to see what kind of feet we have!" Brian said.

"Yeah, but we all know that they pray you wash your's first!" AJ said while pointing at Nick.

"HEY!"

"Guys! Don't fight! Not today! Please!" Kevin begged.

"Kevin's right! Let's not fight! Just be happy!" Howie said.

Kyla was mesmorized to see the band from her own hometown of Orlando right in front of her. She had watched them from stage one. But, of course, she hardly ever spoke a word to Nick back in the day. How on earth was she going to go through a photo shoot with him?

"Hey, are you the girl in the shoot with us?" A very familar voice asked her.

Startled, Kyla jumped out of the directors. She turned around to be face to face with the face she had wanted to be close to years ago. But, never had the guts to do so. She slowly backed away.

"Y-yeah! I'm Kyla...Stevens. I'm in the shoot with you guys." She said while smiling at everyone of the other guys, but Nick.

Nick gave her a weird look and noticed how she was avoiding looking at him. Then it clicked into his head. Kyla Stevens. From Orlando. The shy girl who never spoke a word to him, or anyone else. Shy little Kyla. A much different looking Kyla.

"It's nice to meet you Kyla! I'm Brian." He said while holding out his hand.

"I'm AJ!'

"Kevin!"

"Howie!"

Kyla went down the line and shook all of their hands, except Nick's. It was like she was avoiding him. Like he was the plague of something. But, he tapped her on the shoulder.

"Kyla Stevens? I'm Nick Carter!" He said with interest in his voice.

"It's nice to meet you!"

"Meet me? We've met before! I remember you! How could I foget you? You were so shy during the Orlando Little Entertainer productions. You never spoke a word to me. I thought you hated me." Nick said while laughing.

"Wait, so you two no eachother?" Brian asked.

Kyla blushed and shook her head, not knowing what to say. Nick noticed her uncomfortness and spoke for her.

"I was 13! It was before the BSB formed. My mom put me in a program in Orlando and Kyla was in the same one. But, she was so shy and she didn't speak to anyone. I was beginning to wonder if you could speak!" Nick said while smiling.

"Y-yeah! I can speak! I just am, shy!" She said in her own defense.

"Well, don't be shy around us! So, your an Orlando Native? Were heading back down tonight!" AJ said.

"Yeah, me too! Flying Delta?" She asked.

"Of course! We love Delta!" Brian said.

"I love it too!"

The five of six of them talked untill the photographer came into the room. After about three hours of four different rolls of film, he finally decided he was done. They had a little bit of down time during the time it took to develope the film so Nick pulled Kyla over to the corner to talk.

"Kyla, it's great to see you again. You look...so..so different!" He said.

"Yeah, I know! Puberty does that to you! You look, good Nick." She said while blushing again.

"Thanks! Can I ask you something?" He said.

"Yeah, sure!"

"You model now, right?"

"Yeah, a little."

"Well, I was just telling the other guys that your body is...really, you know? Not like the other models." Nick said.

Kyla felt uncomfortable. Here she was, talking to Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys. Nick Carter, the guy she was always to afraid to talk to. And not he just told her, her body was basically weird.

"Yeah, I'm not a waif! I know? Would you like me to wear a sign that says "I AM NOT A WAIF?" You know? Cuz I really asked god to give me these damn breasts and this damn curvy figure right? Yeah, right? You know! Why do I care what you think? I don't care!" Kyla said while defending herself.

"Wait! Kyla! I didn't say that! I mean, you don't look 17. You've grown up nicely! Very nicely! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound rude. I just didn't know how to come out and tell you how grea-, beau-, how good you look." Nick said while blushing this time.

"Oh, sorry I got so upset! I just, well, nevermind! Let's go check out the pictures."

They checked out the pictures and then headed out of the YM studios and straight for the airport. They were all seated conveniently close to each other. And Nick found this another great opportunity to finally find out why Kyla never spoke to him back then.
