Once all the police left Nick looked over at Tabitha. She was wearing his button down shirt and had a huge blanket wrapped tightly around her body. He looked down at the hand that she was still holding.
"Hey, how are the two of you doing?" Megan asked, walking over to where they were sitting on Tabitha's car.
"I'm doing pretty good. I'm just thankful that he passed out before he could do any real damage. I'm also glad that the guys came when they did." As she said the last part she gave Nick's hand a squeeze and smiled at him. Megan saw this.
"Well, I'm going to go check on Jess. She's pretty upset."
Nick looked in Jessica's direction. "Looks like she's getting some therapy from Kev." He said with a laugh.
The two girls looked at her friend. Sure enough she was getting some heavy duty physical therapy. (Hehe)
Well, I'm gonna go find Brian. See you two later." Megan left Nick and Tabitha still holding hands.
"Tabitha?" Nick broke the silence that had fallen over the two of them. He had been thinking.
Tabitha looked up at him. "Yeah, Nick?" He looked at her for a minute, leaned in and kissed her.
This time no one came looking for them. No one interrupted them. No one said anything. They all just watched.
When they pulled apart there were cheers from the guys. Nick ignored it.
"Tabs, I don't know what I would have done if I had lost you tonight. That guys could have killed you. I don't even want to try to imagine what my life would be like if you weren't in it. I realized something that I should have recognized a long time ago."
"Nick, what are you trying to tell me?" Inside she was hoping that he had felt what she had in that kiss.
"Tabitha, I'm pretty sure that I'm in love with you." He spit it out and looked down at the hood of the car. Tabitha looked at him. She looked down at the hand she was still holding. Then she looked up at him and smiled.
"Nick, you have no idea how happy I am to hear you say that." Having said that she reached up and kissed him.
When they pulled apart they starred at each other. Nick pulled her to him and held her close, praying that he would never have to let go, still holding her hand.
